Recently I built a new PC and chose the Corsair H110i GT as a CPU cooler. After a while I started noticing a weird grinding noise, coming from the fans of the CPU cooler at certain fan speeds. When I first built the PC I connected the case fan controller (which came included with the case) to the CPU header on the motherboard, and the CPU cooler to the white pin on the fan controller as written in the quick set up guide. Then I connected the fans for the cooler to the pump. Correct me if this isn't the proper way to wire it.
I tried connecting the fans directly to the CPU_FAN and CPU_OPT headers on the motherboard but the same noise was still there. Disconnecting the fan controller completely didn't help either. It seems like the noise is happening at about 1500 RPM when I tested in Corsair LINK, not at lower or higher RPM. When I was listening near the cooler I also noticed a weird noise coming from the pump itself which I hadn't heard before. I wasn't very concerned about the fans, but the noise from the pump is odd.
I recorded the noise https://drive.google.com/open?id=0Bz22wuK-Tfb5eEdoTms3R3YwRGs. From 0:00-0:05 both fans and the pump is running at idle (Default mode on the fans and Quiet mode on the pump in LINK). Then I stopped the fans with my finger to only hear the pump, until 0:11 where they started spinning up again and the fan noise happens at 0:12. Then they start idling again.
I haven't had any temp issues at all, not even under heavy load. I'm pretty sure nothing is touching the fans but I find that very unlikely due to it only happening around a certain speed.
I'm thankful for any ideas you might have to fix this problem and I hope someone bothers to read this far, and if you did, have a cookie!
