  1. I'm going to try a new SSD and see if it changes things. What bios settings could effect this?
  2. Okay so I guess I should of been more clear, I don't have a budget but lower is better. I think I'll go with the 10400f option. Should be more than enough for everything that be needs. Maybe cut a corner on the motherboard for a cheaper option as well. Like I think the 5600x will just be way too much pc for his intended use. Thank you all, this puts me on the right path.
  3. Older PC; have had this issue for years but finally want to get to the bottom if it. When booting up, 90% chance it ends up loading for anywhere between 5-45 minutes, happens right after the bios screen (spinning dots - BEFORE windows loads up); 10% chance it loads right into windows. Operating system is 64 bit windows 10 pro. 6700k, Asus Z170-A, 32 GB RAM, EVO 960 500GB M.2 + EVO 850 500GB SATA + 2 (3TB) HDD + RTX 3070 + 1080ti (for output for monitors) + 1000 watt PSU (plat rating). Absolutely no clue what my bios is or how to update it (realizing this might be the issue...) Technically, no software is running since when I boot it goes through the first screen flash or whatever and then the spilling dots that form the circle appear and either load right up or end up hanging for up to 45 minutes THIS IS NOT MY PC, BUT THIS IS WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE FOR 5 to 45 MINUTES. The other post said this is a failing hard drive. What is the program to check for bad sectors again?
  4. Budget (including currency): Maximum $1000 - I'm looking for value for the use case; this is just a placeholder amount. Country: Canada Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Media (to TV), web browsing. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): 1) I have all the peripherals AND monitor. 2) I have a lot of pc parts laying around and managed to throw this together. https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/jpBs9N 3) I'm not looking for a monster, but I have only really bothered making high end pc's in the past and I have no idea what combination works at a lower price point. 4) Effectively, I need a CPU + MOBO + Cooling solution for the CPU. Any help is appreciated
  5. Hello, I'm upgrading my workstation to 6 monitors and I need 3 more 27 inch monitors with DP outputs. These will only be displaying data and graphs. I'm in Canada and would love it if anyone could recommend anything for this purpose. Cheers!
  6. Okay. I was just worried there much be some type of limiter on how many displays I could run without some type of additional hardware. I suppose having 2 GPU's IS the additional hardware.
  7. I'm upgrading to a 6 monitor setup to improve data display for work purposes. (Real Estate Finance). I currently have a RTX 3070 and a 1080ti in my system and 3 monitors (LG 27GL83A-B 27-Inch & 2 complete POS 27 inch monitors). The LG is connected to the 3070 and the other 2 are connected via HDMI & DVI to the 1080ti. By my count even with the GPU's I have, there is 3 DP + HDMI on the 3070 and 3 DP + HDMI + DVI on the 1080ti. I do have access to other 3000 series cards that I can use if the 1080ti isn't good enough for this purpose. Would I have any issues if I bought 3 monitors with DP connectors and plugging those in to get to 6 working displays?
  8. I like this but I have a question. Why is there two cpu coolers listed?
  9. Budget (including currency): $2000 CAD (inclusive of tax would be great, but not necessary). Country: Canada Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming at 1080p now and maybe 1440p in the future. Basically want to play most new games on high settings at 1080p for now and 1440p in the future. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I have my own 1080p monitor, keyboard, mouse. This is strictly a tower purchase.
  10. Budget (including currency): 700-900 CAD Country: Canada Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming at 1080p (CoD, Dark Souls 3). Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Building a PC for a buddy with some parts I have laying around. I have been out of the new PC building game for a year now so open to AMD suggestions as well. (My last build was 3 8700k gaming pc's). PC Parts I own and WILL use in the build to cut down costs: GPU - GTX 1660 Super PSU - 850 Watt Gold+ SSD - 1TB Samsung evo 850 HDD - Slapping in a WD 4tb drive Throwing in the mouse + keyboard + 1080p 27inch screen I have laying around. Looking for: Mobo + CPU + (Cooler?) + Ram + Case suggestions This is a gift and I would like to stay at 700$ CAD but can go as high as 900$ since I can collect some extra scratch from his other friends to help contribute to the build. Any help is appreciated. Thank you!
  11. Updating this. The issue is still not resolved and I have provided them with all the documentation and proof. "The parts request system is down and there is no timeline for when it will be up, please check back later". This is complete horsesh*t. Do not buy with Cooler Master right now.
  12. If there is no solution by the end of this month, I will definitely look into this option. I honestly didn't even think this was possible.
  13. I bought it from Amazon, but it was filled by CM. I have a full warranty with the product for 4 years. They acknowledge that fan failure is an issue but the solution is "temporarily" unavailable. The official CS has been very helpful, but the fact remains that there is no solution in play. I'm approaching my 3rd month with this ticket and they claim that the system will be back at the end of the month. Hopefully it will be resolved. Just frustrating spending 225$ on a case and another 50$ on warranty to get nowhere.
  14. This is mixed bag WITHOUT a solution so far. My Storm Stryker (White) has had 2 of the 5 fans fail since I bought it in January 2018. I reached out on their support site and that went nowhere. I ended up contacting them via twitter and they informed me that the ticket fell through the gaps. (I can honestly see how that happened). The solution the provided involves a system to request new parts that ARE under warranty; the kicker is that that system has been down for months and they also don't carry the parts anymore. I love coolermaster products, but this is quickly changing. /old man rant
  15. RESOLVED! Using individually installed VPN's within each VM and routing all the connections through my bridged internet connections between 2 Telus 500 fiber lines, I'm getting just over 2.5MB Up/Down under full load on each VM. Thankfully tests only last 60 seconds each time, so the routers don't melt. Also had to migrate to multiple host machines since even with a single high end consumer grade desktop I was running out of dedicated CPU cores before I was running out of ram. Might have too look at some of those XEON solutions if this goes any further. Not entirely the way I wanted too, but it works now Thanks everyone!
  16. I have come accross the AWS options a few times now and I'm not too familiar with linux, I'm going to try the VPN right now and if it fails... on to the next one!
  17. Yep. I only resolved half the problem it seems. I can get 50 VM's running and all have internet, but that's where "free" runs out. I'll going to see if connecting through VPN's on the VM's will create additional IPv4 connections to the site. Thanks for your help! P.S. That moment when you need to deliver a product within 48 hours and thoughts like "hmm, I guess I could order 50 internet lines" sound reasonable.
  18. The website is outside the local network. I am using IPv4 and IPv6 on the host, the VM's appear to only have IPv4. The router does seem to be doing just that (rewriting all the addresses when it performs the NAT). Would getting on VPN's within the VM's allow the test site to distinguish where the connections are coming from? I will try the BridgedAdapter method in Oracle and see if that works (I saw this as an option, but haven't tested). Thank you for the reply.
  19. Out of curiousity, could you direct me to a free vpn that you know works without any gimmicks? Much appreciated.
  20. This was something I thought about but the cost would go through the roof even at 50. 50 x 5$ = 250$ a month... the idea is to go beyond that 50 limit at a later time. But I guess nothing in this world is free. Thanks! This is good stuff, I actually already read one of those but it wasn't applicable to my situation. I'll give the other 3 a good read. Thank you!
  21. If you don't know the answer, maybe you know where to direct me... anything helps at this point. Task is: I need to access a website to run a very specific stress test where I run an injection script from the visiting environment. The criteria is that the test site gets a connection from an increasing amount of pc's (1, 5, 10, 50). All of these execute their script and I try to find where the limitation of the test site is. Currently solution: create a number of Oracle VM's and have each one access the site to complete the task, the issue is that all the machines are accessing the site from the same IP (host machine). This is an issue as all the connections must come from different IP's simultaneously. Can anyone recommend any solutions? Is my limitation hardware because of the single lane networking adapter? Am I able to split my line without having the ISP manually give me static IP addresses? Can anyone think of a solution outside of the box on this one? Any help would be appreciated.
  22. Used this but put an i100 v2 cooler that i had laying around Thanks
  23. System 1 is all purchased, looking for upgrade suggestions at this point. System 2 is where I need help. 1k-1.5k on the remaining parts. All peripherals already owned. Same with monitors.
  24. I have a multiple system gaming setup at home and I recently lost my oldest to unknown reasons. (I think I damaged the MOBO). I already own the parks listed in the links below. SYSTEM 1: The worse one off of the two: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/dcpkD2 SYSTEM 2: The better (WORK IN PROGRESS): https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/dVpkD2 I'm missing CPU/MOBO/Cooler/RAM from system 2. Looking for suggestions. I was thinking something along the lines of this combo: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/HpTg3b Budget is 1k+ CAD. Location Canada. I have Prime. Aim. Two systems. A+++ and an A+. Gaming with the wife. (PUBG mostly)
  25. Interesting stuff, so mostly all speculation and waiting once again. I'm giving my gf my old system since she got into gaming and was going to just build something new for myself again from scratch. I guess it's the 8700k
