  1. As Godlygamer said, it increases the rendering resolution, which I believe makes it look better, like super-sampling.
  2. Yo guys. Quick poll on display resolutions; sort of a response to @8BitBuilder's post.
  3. Honestly, all hardware companies need to fix their naming schemes; they don't make sense.
  4. Lenovo are the masters of longevity, I guess. Anyways, we should probably end this tangent and get back to the task of finding possible laptops for OP here.
  5. Generally SSDs last shorter periods of time the more you use them; hard drives can last for quite a while if kept secure/safe.
  6. Heh tell that to the one we have lying around... my parents overused that poor thing in their programming days.
  7. We have an old thinkpad somewhere in my house Their laptops are great, their keyboards are ugly
  8. Nice. How would you describe the sound/sound quality, and how would you describe the build quality? Can they take a beating in a backpack filled with textbooks, or are they somewhat flimsy? Good recommendation, BTW.
  9. Ah, the g430s. I had the G930s, and boy, were they amazing. I loved them, but they developed this annoying beeping issue. Anyways, I like these cans, but they are not meant for portability and they are USB (which is okay, but not preferable). However, if I can't get anything better, these are definitely the ones I'll recommend.
  10. I know people are going to hate me for saying it, but maybe a mac is a good idea. In addition to regular programming languages, you can test Swift, and it runs on Linux, giving you more access. For windows laptops, I am currently using an HP Elitebook, with an i5 and 16gb RAM. Decent, but I am going to try upgrading to something with a better display/power soon, as it has a 1366p display and only 180GB of storage. A better, higher-end model of this may work for you. I currently am learning Java. Note that I'm a high school student, so my requirements are probably much different than most- I don't have much money to spend and this laptop is decent for my basic needs and basic programming.
  11. What is that a link to? A little hesitant to click on a link to "googleadservices.com".
  12. Dude, you should have done a poll... this thread is going to become spammed. Also, 1080p
  13. What's up, guys? My friend is looking for a budget pair of cans that are over-ear monitors for both at-home and on-the-go use (so ideally something compatible with a phone jack*). He would like headphones good for upbeat/pop songs such as "Happy" and "All About that Bass", and he's also a moderate PC gamer. While a microphone is not necessary, it would be nice (although he could just do a mod-mic sort of thing or buy a separate mic). He has about $100 to spare (at the most). While I would normally give him advice, I think that I am inadequate for recommendations related to audio, so I am putting up this post to see if the internet can help him. If you need any more information, I can ask. Thanks! * = Screw the iPhone 7
