  1. My little brother works for Moving Picture Company and wants a new laptop for work. He will be regularly using programs like Maya, Nuke, Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Photoshop. His living situation is somewhat unstable otherwise I would build him a tower. His budget is $2,000. It’s been a while since I’ve payed attention to the latest hardware and software and I don’t know much about laptops. edit: he just said he would prefer a 2k monitor. I told him he might have to up his budget lol.
  2. So i ordered 3pin extensions to put in my 3 120mm fans in the front of my case. My 120mm pwm fan is hooked up to the systfan header since I don't really have anywhere else to put it. I turned it on, all of the fans kicked on and I pulled up the bios. My CPU temp imeadiatly spiked, it got to 100c before I shut it down. I'm so confused.
  3. What is SIV? Also, I just purchased another corsair sp120 but the pwm version along with some 3pin extensions to connect my 3 120mm in the front. I was wondering, could I connect the pwm hub connector to the systfan header and the fan I'm putting onto the rad onto the cpu_fan. From what I understand, the systfan header is pwm but voltage regulated so fans won't boot up until about 20% and up? I'm just paranoid to not have complete control over the radiator fan. Though I won't be over clocking until I get a better monitor. I have a 23" 144hz acer. I'll mostly be gaming so would it be more prudent to have more control over the case fans or the fan cooling my CPU? Thank you again, you've been a huge help.
  4. Thank you, you've been a really big help. I was hoping to use speed fan to control everything. If I use the 140mm fan that came with the aio that could hook that up to a system fan header? It has a 4 pin instead of a and that means it has an integrated pwm signal? Or am I just saying things? Haha. If that's possible would I the be able to control the radiator fan separately with speedfan?
  5. That's really insightful about not being able to select different speeds, thank you. Im at work right now but when I get off I'll list my mobo and take all the pictures.
  6. I'm almost done physically installing all of the parts into my Phanteks entho evolve! Since it's my first build it took about 4-5 hours. I then hit a snag while installing my Kraken x42. My case has a pwm hub in the back that connects to the cpu_fan header on my motherboard and I'm using this to connect all of the fans. Is it okay to have my radiator fan hooked to the same place as the other fans? Is there another better way to do this? Also, I bought corsair 120 mm sp fans and was wondering if anyone knew what the included cable was for. It's very small and seems to be a bit more than an extension. Unfortunately using these were the only way to get some fans to reach the pwm hub. WHY ARE THE CABLES SO SHORT?!
  7. Hey guys, I've finally saved enough to buy the all of the rest of the things that I need for my build but I'm stuck on making the purchase because of the cables. I definitely want custom cables or cable extensions from cable mod or something better if there is a better alternative but my big issue is that I don't exactly know what specific cables to get. I would be really grateful for some help. If it's visible I want it nice neat and color schemed. I just really want it to look nice since I'm dropping so much money on it. Going to buy some cable combs as well. https://pcpartpicker.com/user/BrandonComputes/saved/JVNQ7P Intel Core i7-6700K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor NZXT Kraken X42 Liquid CPU Cooler Gigabyte GA-Z170X-UD3 Ultra ATX LGA1151 Motherboard G.Skill TridentZ Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3200 Memory Samsung 850 EVO-Series 1TB 2.5" Solid State Drive EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 8GB FTW Gaming ACX 3.0 Video Card Phanteks Enthoo EVOLV ATX Mid Tower Case EVGA SuperNOVA G2 550W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply Corsair Air Series AF120 Quiet Edition 39.9 CFM 120mm Fan Corsair Air Series SP120 High Performance Edition (2-Pack) 62.7 CFM 120mm Fans Corsair Air Series AF120 Quiet Edition (2-Pack) 39.9 CFM 120mm Fans Corsair STRAFE Wired Gaming Keyboard Logitech K400 Plus Wireless Mini Keyboard w/Touchpad Mionix NAOS 7000 Wired Optical Mouse GGing Pro gaming mouse pad (extended) NZXT hue+
  8. I'm saving up for a gtx 1080 and will be mostly be playing on my tv. I know the 1080 is pretty over kill for 1080p, would that still apply to a 55 inch tv? Would I see jittering or screen tearing? I will eventually get a 4K tv for sure but it would probably be a while.
  9. Hi, thanks for taking time to look at my build. Just wanted to know the thoughts feelings and maybe suggestions from the experts on here. http://pcpartpicker.com/list/r7Kccc main concern is if I need a better power supply and or another SSD. I don't want any hdd. The $700 for the Msi 1080 twin frozr was just a guesstimate. Thought I heard it would be somewhere around there.
  10. Thanks, by upgrading the PSU, do you mean to a higher wastage? Or a higher grade then 80+ gold? and I can't drop the case, I'm in love. The led lighting is to go around my desk for ambiance.
