Stop making me regret my Pro 4 Purchase .

I have enough regret as it is.

i7 Iris is too OP and 16GB RAM is too OP for laptops.

Eelviny got a reaction from FakezZ in Android N might get a Continuum like feature or aims to replace ChromeOS
I'm quite liking the idea of a mobile-first window system. So many operating systems are trying to achieve convergence where the same OS can run on every device, but Android has to scale up instead of down - I imagine companies such as Microsoft and Canonical are going to have to spend a lot more time honing the performance of their systems on less powerful phones, while Android already has that efficiency and can add more features going up.
Plus, my inner designer is drooling at the simplicity and style of Android's implementation.

I think in year or two from now MS and Canonical will not have to shrink their OSs so they can run on mobile phones, because phones will become faster then many laptops these OSs work on today
Even todays flagships with 4 GB LPDDR4 RAM and Quad/Octa core CPUs are faster then many entry level laptops, not saying about GPUs. Lol mobile phones run games at 1440p
My hackintosh  laptop that has only one GPU HD 4000 which has 333 GFLOPS at max speed is worse at graphics capabilities then Adreno 530 which has 498 GFLOPS. Also my laptop has 4 GB DDR3 RAM. So i think even today they could make this kind of OS that runs on every platform.
Let's face it windows is dead (windows phone)
Canonical does really good job but ubuntu touch still is not as fluid and efficient on same hardware as android is. I have installed them in dual boot right now on my nexus 4.
Apple will not make it until they have powerful enough phone.
Android has many apps, games, it's open. It's the best candidate for this. If they make new android N optimized for working with monitor and mouse/keyboard it would be amazing. This future is near.

My theory is that it is the default colour for the website community software that LTT is using, as the default theme for the software is blue!
    It's such a browser-specific property that I'm not surprised it's been overlooked.

Eelviny got a reaction from GetShrektMrKrabs in Ok to have mid-tower case side panel facing ground?
Orientation doesn't usually have too much of an impact in terms of airflow. Dust buildup can always be an issue if gravity is able to make dust fall through an open top vent.
The biggest thing to consider is orientation agnostic - Will it have enough room to get air from the outside? I remember a video Linus did on putting a PC in a cabinet - although his solution might be a bit OTT.

As for cases, maybe an old server case? I'm really not sure - someone more knowledgeable will have to confirm if that's possible.

EDIT: @GetShrektMrKrabs, beat me to it by seconds!

    For starters my potato specs.

    AMD Phenom II x4 B55 @ 4.04GHZ
    8GB DDR3 Kingston Fury 1708mhz
    EVGA FTW HC2 GTX 580 905 core /2106 memory.
Game installed 2x Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB drives in RAID-0 Array.
    ACER H223HQ 20.5" 1920x1080 75hz display
    Wired XBOX 360 S controller

Game settings used for a visually impressive and smooth experience with my hardware.

A note, the game found instability with my GPU which other stress tests and games never did! so i turned up the voltage a notch, it did raise temperatures a bit but it's perfectly fine for a 580 at 83c maximum, and this is in a warm room of 27c ambient.

    So the game...

I have played similar style games such as Assassin's Creed where you will do set missions, find a new area, go to a tower and get that placed on the map enabling you to fast travel to and from previously found towers.
I AM NOT a fan of Assassin's Creed games at all, in fact the only one i mildly enjoyed was IV Black Flag.

Shadow of Mordor does what the creed games just cannot (you can argue they are very different games, yeah visually you are correct), it gives me visuals and performance that are undeniably amazing, the game is so well optimized it leaves others wanting, however the graphical requirements are higher than actually needed for unknown reasons. AKA High textures wanting 3GB Vram nonsense, but a small blunder compared to the achievement that this game is on a technical level.
There is no pop in with the game world, everything seems to just live and you do feel like you are a part of this game and are fighting the creatures of Mordor, it feels believable and often times i just cannot stop playing.
The sound is excellent and more than fit's what the game is capturing, there is also a lot of great detail added to characters, the voice acting is superb and some of the best i have ever seen.

The graphics menu is excellent, you can tweak this game up or down to suit a vast array of hardware no problem at all, however just ignore the Vram suggestions on the right side with textures unless you wish to try running the HD texture pack on Ultra, that will possibly eat most cards Vram.
Ambient Occlusion is one of those things you either love or hate, games that have used it like Battlefield 4 for me i just did not care as it barely added anything other than an unrealistic black outline to everything, however in Shadow of Mordor it is implemented greatly and really gives everything a fantastic look, NPC's pop out of the 3D world, i don't know AO just seems at home in Shadow of Mordor, it greatly enhances the visual experience.

Motion Blur and FXAA are really well done, it adds to the immersion (motion blur) and FXAA is a shader based method to help deal with those annoying jaggies, it's not over the top and barely hit's the visual clarity of the game.

The combat is excellent and uses a simlar system to the Batman games, it is so satisfying being able to deal a deadly kill sheering your enemies head off! can't get enough of that

I have 4 hours into the game so far and just don't want to stop playing.

If you wish to purchase this game yourself, here are two links to epic deals for the game, it really is an unmissable experience in my honest opinion.

Eelviny got a reaction from Moonzy in Upgrading CPU, do I need to buy more thermal paste?
Best practise is to always replace the thermal paste when you pull the components apart. The paste needs to form a strong "bond" between the two components in order to transfer heat most effectively. Your beast CPU cooler will be for nothing if the heat doesn't even reach it properly.
So, in short - yes, you'll have to buy some.

Eelviny got a reaction from ClobberXD in Atx or not?
That's not dependant on the motherboard, only the PC case. I always recommend Fractal Design, but there's plenty of other case manufacturers that can fit a 240mm rad into an mATX case. Just don't try to fit one into a mini-ITX motherboard/case combo.
Also, make sure you do your research - some cases may support two 120mm fans, but not have enough height/depth to fit in a 240mm radiator since they need a slight bit of clearance above them. This is something to watch out for in all cases, not just mATX ones.

A nice bonus to HDMI is having the audio routed over the same cable - not possible with VGA. While the speakers (if any) built into computer monitors are a bit tinny, it's better than nothing!
As many have said before, VGA is dead - long live the HDMI king.
