I have lately been looking for a new monitor for around £90-100, i have been looking on Amazon and have found a few, however most of them either have bad reviews or the build quality isn't the best. So far, i have only found this one: https://www.amazon.co.uk/BenQ-GW2270H-Flicker-Free-Monitor/dp/B0157V5VJG/ref=sr_1_8?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1503496773&sr=1-8&keywords=1080p+monitor+hdmi If anyone has any decent recommendations then please leave them for me. I will be using this monitor mainly for gaming aswell.

What is a good internet adapter for Linux?
KJ4 replied to KJ4's topic in Linux, macOS and Everything Not-Windows
Hi there, I am extremely sorry for my late reply. I used a LAN cable and the Internet worked perfectly, however my Internet adapter was still very slow. -

I'm not using a laptop, i am using my desktop. And what i mean by slow is that i can barely browse the web or download really small packages. The distribution that i am using is Linux Mint 18.1 -

My adapter is the V3. I have tried plugging it into a USB 3.0 port, and a 2.0 port on my desktop aswell but there was no change. I used Linux Mint on my laptop (not using the internet adapter) to test it out and it worked completely fine, where as on my desktop pc with the adapter the internet was slow and took a while to download certain things or even browse the web. Inside the software updater my adapter doesn't show up or offer me any way to download drivers for it aswell. I have also spent a while trying to download drivers, but that did nothing either. -
That's what i was thinking because when in Windows my download speeds are always at 3MB/s.

I recently installed Ubuntu and i am enjoying it, however, there is one really annoying thing about it. This is that whenever i try to download a game on Steam or just browse the web it is really slow. My Steam downloads usually start off at around 2 MB/s and then go down to 500KB/s. I have tried disabling IPV6 and it still has done nothing. Has anyone got a proper solution to this?

Would you say Solus would be a better option than Mint?- 16 replies

I am thinking of giving Linux a go, but i'm not too sure what distro to use, what one would you recommend? I am going to be gaming on it aswell as creating word documents etc.
