  1. Hey guys, I have this problem with motherboard that suddenly died on me. it is the second time I replace the mother board on this rig. My specs are the following. MB: MSI H81I CPU: i5 4670k (no overclock) RAM: vengeance 2x4GB running 1600mhz GPU: GeForce GTX 770 (EVGA Super clocked) PSU: Rosewill capstone 550m (550watts) The same issue happened from when I originally replaced my Board, it turned off and never came back on. So I replaced the motherboard and 3 months later same thing happens. I do not see anything worn with my PSU, CPU or RAM, they all work and function correctly the only thing I did notice about the GPU. When held up to an angel the pins to the left have some sort of stain on it that makes them appear lighter than all the other pins it seems like a circle. I also see the same trend in some pins on the right side. Though not as prominent. Can anyone here tell me if these are normal ? Or can help me come to a conclusion on what killed my board? Because it's just the board that is dead everything else works like a charm. Thank you!
  2. Not even HP could answer the question if you can upgrade ram or add 2 sticks of ddr4 on top of the lpddr3 it already has
  3. Let me rephrase, It's for a costumer that absolutely wants it!
  4. I have to buy this exact one but I don't know if you could upgrade the ram
  5. I have to buy this exact same laptop here for a costumer that does not want to change the model http://store.hp.com/us/en/pdp/hp-elitebook-840-g3-notebook-pc-(energy-star)-p-t6f44ut-aba--1 but I am so confused on the ram. To my understanding LPDDR3 in soldered in the motherboard this laptop says it has 4GB of LPDDR3 but at the same time it has 2 RAM slots! I don't understand is that even possible? if I add a stick of 4 will I have 8GB or only 4 will be recognized?? please help!
  6. Thank you for everyone's input on this matter I appreciate everyone's response and I will surely make an educated choice but one thing is for sure, no matter what, I will never drop school. Thank you again. The Linus tech tips community has to be among the best on the Internet.
  7. Hey guys I want to get input from everyone in this case I've already talked to my parents, family members and close friends. here is some back ground on me I am currently a first year student at my local university studying computer science for AA then branching off to I.T for the (networking track) and some day I would like to achieve a masters in cyber security. So my dilemma is the following. I was presented with a great opportunity I've been working in I.T. For next semester to work full time for my local county in a school pretty much manage their network and make sure all the school computers run smoothly. A very stedy job with benefits. However I have already been working in I.T for around 5 months but only making commission and it pays really well but not knowing what your paycheck looks like at the end of the week adds extra stress. Okay so I am faced with keeping my flexible commission I.T job and have a comfortable school schedule or go to school at night (or maybe even quit school) and work full time for the county and since I am relatively new to the workforce in I.T I would like opinions on this particular matter. Thank you
  8. Thank you for your input man! I really want to get into the field of cyber security or network administration. Those two field both interest me a great deal. Also my dad was a bit skeptical about the job when I said 200 to 300 dollars as well but to be honest the first day on the job I made 190. I have been making over 100 dollars for the 4 business days I choose to work in. I'm not too worried on that aspect I just don't want to go chase something that might now workout (the internship) when I already have my foot in the door with this job. However I will still work and do the internship and see how it goes.
  9. Well I will try I just do not want to burn myself out.
  10. Well as the title states I am a fairly young guy, 18 years old and I just landed myself a tech support job with a small local company. I also landed an and I.T internship at my local county's data processing center during the summer(I have not accepted yet). I was wondering. Now I am faced with this decision should I stay working at my tech support job that I have the possibility to make 2 to 3 hundred dollars a day? (I said possibility because I have no salary I get payed in commission 70%) or should I leave do the internship give 110% and hopefully get hired by my county or attempt to do the internship and work at the same time? I want you guys to help me figure out what to do because I will eventually decide on my own but I want some people with more experience in the tech field to help me out a bit. Since this is the first internship I have been offered I don't know what to do or if internship are even worth it. I know I might sound kind of dumb on this whole topic but I just graduated from high school and I did not expect any of this so I just want some opinions with people that have experience in the field. also the internship is about 20 to 24 hours a week unpaid and my job I can pretty much work whenever I want.
  11. I currently attend the largest school in south Florida and I'm part of their tech support program and we've been slowly pushing Windows 10 through the network for the past few weeks. It's pretty cool that they are upgrading but it's also slightly problematic since we are running on our own private domain every time someone logs in the "setting up Windows" loading screen pops out. That seems to cause some problems with getting things done in time since in some computers it can take as much as 10 minutes.
  12. What the fun of that, the reason why at least I watch racing is because of the unpredictability of the drivers. In all races their human error involved, I'm not talking about a huge crash just to please an audience that likes to see the drivers get hurt. I'm talking about the human error of not braking soon enough not hitting the apex of the turn or downright pushing the car to the breaking point. I understand technology is making huge leaps in the robotics industry but racing? Come on! racing is already in the decline and has been for a while now, if you add self driving cars to it that are nearly perfect driving machines, that's it. The fun an excitement is over instead we will be rooting for the car who has the best launch control system that gets poll position. In my opinion it's extremely innovative but not for racing.
  13. Hey man makes me happy that I helped someone. Thank you for taking your time to look at the post and sorry for late reply
  14. Hi so I have not seen a guide in this section about this issue so I will make one that will be short and sweet. what worked for me was going to services. After going to services scroll down all the way till you find "superfetch" right click it and choose properties. look for "startup type" and on the drop down menu select disable and click on apply. Then right click again on super fetch and select "stop" After make your way down to the search bar again and type in "Notifications" select "notifications & action settings" When the window pops out turn on the option of "show me tips about Windows" which should be to your right. Your hard drive usage should go from 100% to about 3 -20%. If you do not like reading there is also a video I made about it check it out if you want. Thank you and let me know if it was helpful!
