Faster Internet for FREE in 30 seconds - No... Seriously
Jarf10 replied to James's topic in LTT Releases
Linus said while changing the DNS in windows that the secondary DNS ip is the backup address. But is it? From some other forums I read that windows more use it like load balancing. In my case my own dns server on DNS1 is always questioned for my local domains so I dont know if it initially ask it to DNS1 or that in some cases it can not find it on DNS2 so it will question DNS1. A little research and a video from LTT should clear up a lot I think. Whenever it happens please also research how different platforms treat the DNS servers. -
Thanks! 45Drives is the guy from the video explaining everything! Thumbs up!!!

It would be cool if the CentOS setup could be explained more! I think there are loads of people who just want to turn an old computer into a shared save space at home

The advice of ChrisCross is good, but when I hear you've the budget for a GTX1080 I would also consider to buy a ultra-wide. I don't say it's better but take it in consideration

Awesome experiment! I only thought that quadro's were THE graphic cards to go if you talk about video-editing. I might also be totally wrong but I missed those in the benchmarks .

Thanks for this information man! I use the Spec-02 because I was on low budget at the time I bought it. Officially it only supports 120mm RAD's but my H100i GTX first fitted fine at the top. Then I bought new RAM-sticks and my RAD didnt fit any longer at the top. Now I push air through the front but never look at my HDD temps . I actually was planning to find out how to put the fans under 40% because my cpu is most of the time 27 degrees in the lowest configuration in corsair link. Do you know any software to monitor the HDD's better?

I am just searching for a way that if my computer failes my NAS has covered the latest data it could see. I am sure there are solutions for that but I am just unexperienced and hope you guys can give me a little advice.
-
Well the sync solution is great but both computers need to run. I saw freenas introduced bitorrent sync. as plugin but freenas recommend 8gb of ram. Are there better solutions out there? For me it would benefit to download at school, homeworkfiles on my homedesktop. My desktop is off at that moment so I want to save those files onto a NAS.
-
If I delete something by accident or someone else is on the fileserver the data would be gone. And I dont have to change those files I only need to work with it sometimes.

Hi guys, I really hope you can help me. I want to make a fileserver out of my old computer and I know there are tons of solutions for that online. But I want to sync my documents automatically to the server. And I dont want to give any other user permission to change the folders and files I only want to let them read it. I don't know how to search exactly for that. Hopefully you guys can help! Greetz PS. I only have 4 gb of ram hope that is not a problem
