I'm building my first computer this summer, and so far I have an i7 6700k and a 390x. Should I go for an i5 6600k and a 980 ti instead for my GPU power? I've been kicking around the i5 with 980 ti option possibility for a bit but I'm not sure. Everyone's opinions would be much appreciated!

I'm building a rig that can handle 1440p or 1080, but I want a monitor that has higher than 60 Hz refresh rate. The cheapest monitor I could find is the acer GN246HL Bbid 24-inch with 144 Hz refresh rate for 190$-200$USD. I planned on getting that, but now I'm possibly having second thoughts. Should I just suck it up and get a 1440p monitor with higher refresh rate? If so, any suggestions of the cheapest one, possibly around 300USD? Thanks!

The 980 seems to be a bit more expensive, so I've kind of been in favor of the 390x.
