  1. Hey guys, I recently installed precision drivers on my MSI GS63-8RE, and it's by far a more pleasant experience than the default ELAN drivers. However, before the update to precision, Fn+F3 would enable and disable the trackpad automatically. After updating the drivers, this no longer works, I assume because the computer looks for an ELAN device but can't find it. Is there a known way to either remap what the key combo does outside of the Steelseries Engine, or a way to edit the path/variables used so it can work with my precision-updated trackpad? Thanks in advance :)
  2. Your lead ended up being worth it My roommate talked to his electrical engineering friends and one of them gave me this link: https://www.premier1supplies.com/p/ezereel-wind-up-reel?gclid=Cj0KCQiA2L7jBRCBARIsAPeAsaPyNhKoKrMDgtYZU_FWXeGZO_OGyDe7UZi9VVGGhzvYCya1sr2m4_caAg0qEALw_wcB It looks worthwhile, and not too heavy to carry around. Thanks for the help!
  3. Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone on here has any experience with transporting long Ethernet cables that constantly need to be used? My friends and I have to Discord in some of our D&D members, so I usually run a 100ft Cat6 flat cable to the router of whoever's house we meet at that day. Unfortunately, the cable tangles too much even when I pack it with care. Anyone know of a way to reliably roll it up for constant use and travel? I like the idea of a retractable reel, but I can only find garden hose sized reels, and I'd rather not purchase a brand new pre-retractable cable.
  4. That's actually a huge help, thank you so much!
  5. Aorus X7 Pro. Literally any 17.3 monitor would work, just gotta splice it in.
  6. Kind of a weird topic for the case modding section, but I don't know where else to post this, and seems to fall under "other mods". Please let me know if there's a more appropriate place to post. I'm trying to source a supply of used laptop hardware. My screen is pretty much on it's last legs, and I'm looking to just splice in a new panel. I don't know where I could get one though. I'm looking for a 17.3" 1080p display, preferably 100Hz or higher. Anyone know any online shops that deal in old hardware and used parts?
  7. I figured as much. I'm not shy to DIY, just wondering if it can be done, and where I could find a screen online somewhere. (It isn't anything too special. Aorus X7 Pro with a 1080p 60Hz, average color accuracy and gamut.)
  8. I want to boot my PC into MacOS High Sierra, Windows 10 1803, and Ubuntu 18.04.1, but I'm not sure which should go first. My primary RAID configuration has 2 drives for Windows (my main ecosystem), and I have a third drive that's partitioned as: 100GB: Linux 100GB: MacOS 40GB: Unallocated 1. Do I need to backup my Windows stuff if the High Sierra installer targets the 100GB partition on the third drive? I've heard installing MacOS after Windows is already on the system can cause problems. 2. If I do need to back things up, what's a good way to do so (besides just copying everything onto an external 1TB)? 3. If I back things up, and end up needing to fresh install EVERYTHING, would the best order be: MacOS > Windows > Ubuntu? Thanks y'all
  9. So, kind of a weird question, but I don't think it's impossible to jank in a new display on a laptop. Is there any info on modding stuff like this? My current laptop monitor got a little fried after a Conductonaut mishap, and while it still works, it's quite literally physically burnt across 95% of the display. Everything has a smoky tint now. The easy solution is find a mobile display on eBay, open, splice, and it's good to go. But would it work if I found a better one? Instead of a 60Hz, a 144Hz?
  10. Thanks, appreciate the help. I had no idea that Asus even existed
  11. I'm looking around for a 2-in-1 that can handle small games like Castleminer Z, Minecraft, and Terraria. It's a planned upgrade from a Yoga 710 with a 7200u in it. I'd also prefer that it's light, bout Macbook Air or Pro status; somewhat compact, like the current Yoga; and can hold a decent charge when not gaming, like 6+hours. The XPS 15 2-in-1 looks good, but the Vega M in it is somewhat overkill. Budget is roughly $1000 USD to about 1300. Oh. And this is for a friend who's mom is insistent they purchase from Best Buy -__-
  12. So after several hours of software hell, I managed to fix my issue. I installed my drivers, restarted several times, then tired updating to 1803, but that made things worse, so after like `15 instances of creating restore points and going back to the previous version of Windows 10, I ended like this: 1. GPU issue is fixed. Thank god for that. 2. I'm staying on this version of Win10 for a while, since I get stuck in a login loop now without my GPU's being detected AT ALL. Thanks for all the help from everyone in this thread, it was a long arduous process but I'm all good now.
  13. Alright. I'll try that. And I just checked, yeah I'm on 1709
  14. Wagnardsoft?
  15. No results for that either. I've noticed Windows 10 isn't entirely consistent from system to system.
