Just made some minor changes to my PC, redid all my overclocking after I accidentally set it to 4666 c16 (oops), I think 3200 c16 1.35v is pretty good considering this kit is not good, and I finally updated my profile ?

Wait you got it to 3200Mhz on a Zen chip? Daaaaamn that's pretty nice, most of the time they throw fits at anything above 2933Mhz. Also double points for HyperX Fury, that line has been pretty damn dank in my experience. I run Red HyperX Fury DDR3 in my X58 rig, and my main rig has HyperX Predator RAM (it was the prettiest RAM IMO when I bought it).

Yeah, its pretty insane considering this kit stock is 2666 c16 and came out in the z170 era. I've had it at 3733 c17 1.42 volts before stable but that's more voltage than I want to run considering there isn't much airflow, and with how low power this CPU is I don't really feel like tuning it more is worth it even though I feel I could get 3400 with a happy voltage and CAS latency. I cant wait to get a new CPU in if I decide to keep this PC; I didn't actually really chose the components in this PC considering I bought it used as a whole PC for super cheap, but so far they've all been excellent.

Oh yeah, the 1300X should be... slightly ahead of a Haswell i5 IIRC, maybe a bigger lead with how fast your RAM is. Unless you're doing stuff that actually needs more than 4 cores, it'll be a damn good CPU. I had a 2200G for a bit that I just ran at stock (it's literally a 1300/1300X with a GPU taped to it AFAIK), was a noice little thing.

If you do decide to change platforms, I can highly recommend X99 and I swear I'm totally not biased, honest.?

I really don't use this PC much, I find myself using my laptop with a 2700u far more often for the convenience factor mostly. This CPU is a bit slower than my old i5 6500, and considering how CPU limited I am in the games I "play" (read: csgo once every 2 months), I'm considering a 6 core. Quad cores are fine to me but it's weird having a laptop that creams my desktop in CPU performance (it literally holds 3.8ghz across 4c8t for ~5 mins, really impressive considering the anemic cooling). X99 is super fun, if boards were cheaper I'd definitely be playing with it.

Look for EVGA boards with bent pins. They use "more gold in the sockets", but more importantly, because of that the pins are thicker and easier to fix if they are badly bent. My X99 Micro2 was only $50 because of "bent pins", but I slapped my Xeon in and it's worked without a single issue, didn't actually have to fix any pins either. The X99 Classified in my main rig came from a B-Stock sale, got it for only $99. If you aren't looking to slapp in big OCs then the FTW K or Micro2 would be the best options due to having a full PCIe 3.0 x4 M.2 slot (the Micro, FTW, and Classified are older and only have an x2 slot that throttles most drives) so you can slap in a nice SSD (heck, it's only $60 now for a Sabrent Rocket 512GB NVMe drive).

CPUs aren't too much, I massively overpaid for my 5820K and it was still "only" $160 (both cheaper and - when overclocked - faster than the R5 2600 at the time I got it). I think you can get them for way cheaper now, and I saw a guy selling one on here for only $50 a bit ago. They do get toasty once OCed though, so you would need a pretty good cooler if you wanna push a proper OC (4.2-4.5 is a massive difference over stock).

I might think about it, I'm really in PCs for the hardware enthusiasm and I'm getting bored of this one at this point, so I might try it. I've been wanting to have some fun with bent pins for a while, if I get a deal I'll maybe get it. NVME drives are crazy cheap, it doesn't even make sense to go SATA anymore considering a proper TLC DRAM 1tb drive is only $10ish more than a cheap sata one.

Heck yeah! Same reason I have X99 too lol, I really like the hardware. I tryed Ryzen for a bit but I didn't like it, mostly because I ran a 2700X. Can't push that over the stock boost with a manual OC without unsafe voltages and insane amounts of heat, so it was pretty disappointing after a while. Ended up hopping back to X58 for a while actually (with a 1080 Ti, slight bottleneck I think?) purely because it's fun to tweak, then moved to X99 when I got that deal on my Classified.

Still need to get an X79 classy and CPU at some point, I sadly skipped that gen. CPUs there are excellent overclockers as well, I think because they're all based on Sandy Bridge. The Haswell-E chips on X99 are usually great, though the Broadwell stuff is oof unless you luck out and get a golden chip.

Yeah, I want some fun considering this rig barely gets used.
