Leanora reacted to OddJob001 in New Samsung Ody Neo G9 has same recall issue as the original version.
I originally made the post on reddit about issues and recalls on the 1st edition Samsung Odyssey G9.

I have since returned 2 of the original Ody G9s, under recall. If you own one, they will allow you to return it, without question, for a full refund. All you have to do is keep telling them "its under recall".Even when they want to send someone out to troubleshoot it, just tell them "no, its under recall."

They are under recall due to a 240hz horizontal scan line issue (as seen here: https://i.imgur.com/7P7K7Ls.png).
I went through 2 monitors, hoping one with an updated manufacture date would resolve the issue. It didnt.

My next thought was, "ok, lets return the 2nd one and get the Ody Neo G9, upgraded panel. They must have this issue fixed in this panel right?"
    WRONG.
The horizontal scan line issue STILL EXISTS in this new Neo G9 panel.

The updated monitor and panel are nice, I'll say that. There are additional buttons for quick switching between monitor settings (profiles). Its a bit more durable (doesnt move around as much), the frame has a more streamlined look to it, the colors and contrast are quite a bit better than the original. The blacks are amazing.

Im not sure what Im going to do. Who knows if this issue will ever be fixed. It's not present in 120hz, only in 240hz, so at least Ive got that going for me.
I am certainly going to reach out to Samsung support and have them look at this. For awhile they were saying that replacing the mainboard on the monitor was resolving it for the 1st edition. But then later they told me that was no longer an option.

I wanted to share this with all of you that are looking at upgrading to ultra-wide. I will post more updates as I get them.
tl;dr - New Samsung Ody Neo G9 has the same horizontal scan line issues at 240hz that are under recall on the first Ody G9.

Leanora got a reaction from Ben17 in How does AMD usually price Ryzen in the UK?
Just import from Germany, Netherlands or Scandinavia, it will be cheaper than buying in the UK, especially if you order from Germany.
Quite a few websites from Germany have an English option also.

How things will be after Brexit, no one knows.

There is some increase past 3000mhz. But not really worth the increase in cost.

Again i am still waiting for more trustworthy benchmarks.

HWMonitor has never been reliable with Ryzen.  You should switch to HWiNFO or Ryzen Master.

There is no reason to go for the 2700x over the 3600. Not for the price and not for the performance.

RGB gives more FPS so go with Aorus?

You would still get some signs of life, as in constant reboots or a crash at the get go.

It's recommended. If you really don't want to then swap the parts and see if it runs. I'd advise you do a fresh install though.
It's one of the reasons why you want to have the OS on a separate partition, wipe it without loss of data.

Sounds like a good plan when you're on a budget.
If you want to stream yourself then check a review that goes into gaming + streaming.  for that CPU, I haven't seen one yet.
More cores on that are better.
Also, what mainboard were you thinking of getting?

If you have a use for the extra cores, want the bragging rights or be more future proof then, provided it aint hurting miss piggy, get the 3950x I'd say.
As others said, date has been confirmed, it's a yield and availability issue.

No, It's too vague, what do you define as hacking?
A mod is a hack too
changing some .ini and registration files is a hack too
The first step to better ones security is to acknowledge that there is a problem. If you do not know that a certain hack is possible how can you ever do something against it?

The GPU has nothing to do with it. What I can say is that the 1080TI is wasted on the CPU.
I always used one of the scythe mugen  coolers, it did it's job well enough.  I can't remember if I was using 1 fan or 2 fans on the cpu block though.

Speaking of GPU's, you mentioned the Sapphire HD 7870, that is a 2GB GPU. You might want to check for a cheap 4GB card.
Sadly I don't know NVIDIA cards well enough but AMD side i wouldn't go for anything less than a 290, the 300/400 series are just refreshes.
You should be able to find something for around 100/150 CAD I think?

It would but I can't make one with a 2400G nor even with a 2200G for 400CAD, If you can I would love to see it and probably end up saying to go with that one.

Seems decent enough. It's hard to say if it would run cyberpunk. What i can tell you is that I was running the witcher 3 with my 2500k @4.6 + AMD 290 at med and some high without AA around 40-50 FPS on 1920/1080.

The 3rd option, while it does not do a whole lot extra for gaming, 2 more cores for compiling etc is nice to have.
Up to you if you think that's worth paying 400cad instead of 200.

Previously I had an 2500k that was on 4.6Ghz, a bit less success with the 2600k, 4.2Ghz 'only', both air cooled.

1st option in part depends on how far you can overclock it. There is not that big of a difference to the 4000 series.

You certainly will not get twice the performance between option 1 and 3.

If you you want to upgrade then go for a 3000 series, better single core speeds and more cores unless I am mistaken.

For now you want the highest single thread speed, the future however is multi core.
    Does that answer your question?

Leanora got a reaction from JoostinOnline in Will 144hz make huge differnce
    It depends on the person.
Some are sensitive to it, others not at all.
Personally I am not actively aware of a difference with my 144hz monitor vs a 60hz one.

The same with cinema,  a regular screen and imax, for me it's just louder and a bigger screen, that's it.

Having said that, other people are like once they go 144 they never go back.

Try it out and see yourself.
