  1. I love some of the mods on here. Here's my first case mod/ paint job, thought I would start with a cheap pc! Might have it in my lounge I like it so much, a few £s of paint and a sharpie and you're good to go
  2. I know that used to be the case, didn't know if they had improved. Sounds like as long as the AMD can handle being a htpc, the graphics are worth it
  3. Intel does appear to have a significant edge. Do you know how Kaveri compares to hd 610? Also the g4500 has hd 530, how does that compare?
  4. I'd probably want two channels of ram as I've heard igpus perform better in dual channel. I suppose have some extra ram can't hurt haha. I'll see if I can get that setup in a while build under £200. Cheers
  5. I've heard that the Pentium chips hugely out perform the quad core a10 chips. Is this really true? And will it really matter for my intended use?
  6. Don't have any parts except the RAM. 16gb of ddr3 which would be great for an igpu. So socket doesn't really matter. Will try and buy used but budget is about £200 (f****** brexit = $200) and it needs to have a low power consumption as I plan to use a Pico PSU.
  7. Hi everyone I need a low power CPU for a home theatre PC that will be able to handle some light gaming ( think tomb raider 2013 at 720p) with no separate GPU. Narrowed down to -- Intel Pentium G4500 (Intel HD 530 graphics). Didn't want G4560 as I wanted to use my ddr3 ram. Or.... -- AMD A10 7800 ( Kaveri igpu) Please back up your opinions ( not just 'Go for intel, AMD are crap' for example) Thanks everyone.
  8. Hi everyone Bit long winded but looking for some help. Saving up for a house so I'm going to be living in my caravan, and in summer just off of solar power. As a result I want my gaming pc drawing no more than 120w when gaming so I'm not going to be able to have it as is. I'm going to have to make a low power gaming PC that runs off of 12v. It also will be on a pretty low budget so will I buy second hand when possible. Would like medium settings at 720p on games like Rise of the tomb raider and Far cry 4 (4 cores). Here's my idea so far CPU - i5 2400 (undervolted by 0.09v) CPU cooler - arctic passive cooler intel version GPU - GTX 1050ti 120watt(currently have a gtx960 but 1050ti has lower power consumption with better performance). Motherboard - cheapest H61 board maTX PSU - 200w pico power supply (no AC to DC power waste) Then 120gb SSD And a cheap case Interesting article here on i5 2400 undervolted. Just look at the graphs and see the i5 2400's performance. http://www.silentpcreview.com/intel-2100t-2400s Let me know if you have any ideas, I currently have an i5 4690k but I'm worried it might be a bit power hungry. Also if I get the i5 2400 for £40 I'll be able to make a HTPC when I get a house. Thanks in advance for the advice. Alex
