  1. Go ahead and climb a cliff while holding a GoPro perfectly steadily and come back with a time-lapse video that matches its smoothness while providing "good enough for the average consumer" quality. This isn't meant for production use (although using a steadier and higher quality camera setup, it theoretically can be considering the algorithm they use is very flexible), its meant for everyday people who take videos with their google glasses, or GoPros or smart phones and point&shoot cameras so they can share with their friends and families.
  2. I really don't know what they're doing with their marketing. I understand that a select group of hardcore FPS gamers will love it, but to most average gamers its going to come off as "hey look, we took an FPS game and took out all the features that makes most modern FPS games unique and advertised our lack of features as a feature". I know theyre aiming for that hardcore FPS market, but considering this is a paid game, I get the feeling this thing is going to die after a few weeks max. I like their no bullshit philosophy, so I hope it works out since they seem to actually want to make something nice, but chances are, huge failure is ahead.
  3. Could you be any more ignorant or oblivious? Tape is still in widespread use in almost every data-center for archival and storage purposes. Just because your gaming PC doesnt have a tape drive, doesnt mean its "ancient technology".
  4. Yep, it goes to a Kingston Digital MobileLite Wireless here in the US.
  5. I heard the same uproar when the first 720p phone screens were released but then a few months later, if a phone didnt have 720p, it got trashed by every consumer and reviewer. Then once again when 1080p phones were released, the same thing happened. And now, once again, its happening with 1440p. Idk, maybe I'm starting to see a pattern here But what do I know. I mean, phones only need 480p screens, and 5 mp cameras are good enough and no one needs LTE Advanced while HSPA+ is plenty fast, right? These same arguments of "we don't need *insert name of new technology or better spec here* " comes along every single time something new happens in the industry, and then a month later, the people who opposed these things somehow turn into their biggest proponent.
  6. You're comparing desktop drives to portable drives which see much more abuse in terms vibration and whatnot, that might be it? Or you might just be unlucky. In general, indifferent of brands, hard drives are pretty darn reliable after over 30 years of existing.
  7. Prepare for people with anecdotal evidence of having used 2 to 3 drives max calling an article citing usage data from thousands of drives to be bullshit. Yep, makes perfect sense.
  8. If Siri's gonna respond with snarky and useless comments to glass related questions, they ought to have at least made it funny. These just seem like unfunny and desperate attempts at putting down something for no reason other than being afraid of it.
  9. Except you can't buy it anywhere. I'm sure it'll be good but I've had terrible experience with Asus trackpads. Macbooks, as much as I find OSX useless, are very well built and the trackpad is second to none (not to mention the battery life is outstanding). Just put windows or Linux on it and you're good. I had a chance to use the S7 392 and besides having very good hardware and battery life, it also has one of the best trackpads I've used on a non apple laptop.
  10. Yeah, just grab any 1080p monitor. Given the latency and resolutions offered by consoles, anything higher than 1080p @ 60 Hz and 10ms response time is useless to say the least. Tv's have much slower response times, consoles are made for TV's in mind. Not even trying to put down consoles, but seriously, any high end monitor is a pure waste of money for console gaming. Any $120 1080p monitor will do.
  11. From what I could find, game laws in the EU make it exceedingly difficult to hold such contests for EU citizens. The US and Canada has comparatively lax gaming laws, so for a company, a lot of these giveaways are much easier to hold for Canadian and American Citizens than it is worldwide. If you're just someone running an youtube channel and wanna give something away, you don't really have to worry about game laws, but as a big company, it's a big deal. But that being said, it really blows for the people living in the 6 other continents.
  12. Again, people deciding to work their mouths before they work their brains. They specifically said you can't run anything commercial, which I fail to understand why it would be a problem considering its a consumer grade plan. Your game server you use with friends or your chat server and what not wont be blocked. Stop complaining and actually put some thought and reading into it. This only affects the people abusing a home connection and using it for business purposes.
  13. The government had nothing to do with it. The googling happened at work and the boss happens to be a paranoid moron.
  14. If your computer boots up and the chips aren't getting hot, then it should be fine. Look up pictures of your motherboard model and see if the motherboard in those pictures have similar substances on their BIOS chips. That being said, I wouldn't worry about it, seems to me like leftover marker fluids from the manufacturing process.
