  1. alright, thanks, i'll take a look at lowering TDC values. Would lowering the curve optimizer make any difference or would more likely lower single core performance?
  2. Hi, I have a 5950x and would like to get even more out of the chip if at all possible. I have an MSI x570 Tomahawk wifi and a be quite pure loop 280mm, so cooling it shouldn't be too much of an issue. My current Pbo settings are: PPT: 210 TDC: 200 EDC: 150 PBO Scalar: 10X Max cpu boost clock override: 125 Curve optimizer is configured to be per core, best 2 cores are -15, 4 best cores after those are set to -20 and the rest is set to -30 If anyone can help me optimize these values so i can get better performance (preferably single core, multi core is at a high enough level for me), i would appreciate your help.
  3. Hi all, I was wondering if any of you have recommendations for triple monitor arms that support a 32" 21:9 curved monitor (xiaomi) in the middle and a 16:9 28 to 30" monitor on either side. Currently I have a Arctic Z3 pro and it's amazing but it is just a bit too small for me to have the 32" monitor with anything larger than a 21.5" monitor next to it
  4. Hi, i've been wondering for a while nos if its worth getting a custom loop for my pc. Currently running a 5950x with the be quiet AIO 280mm and a 3060ti. Would it be worth getting everything i need for a custom loop and running it with only a 5950x at first until i can get a gpu that can be watercooled or is it better to just keep it as is right now? My current temps under load arent above 70 with a pretty extreme pbo 2 curve, on linux while gaming
  5. yeah, that's what i found, guess i'll go for that one when black friday comes around
  6. I've been looking into getting a m.2 pci-e gen 4 drive. I just found both of these drives, the PM9A1 being about 60 euro cheaper. I couldn't really find a difference between the 2 except for a bit lower random write speed but higher sequential write speed. I also know the PM9A1 is a OEM version, but according to the page i found it has the same amount of warranty. Does anyone here know if there is a downside for the PM9A1 compared to the 980 pro? I'm planning on buying the 2tb version and using it for a linux install, some games and unity/unreal.
  7. Hi, thanks for the response. I now have a score of ~11000 in multicore r20 and ~630 for single core r20. PBO is set to 210/190/200, LLC to mode 8(most vdroop), best 2 cores at -20, the 4 best cores after the first 2 at -25 and the remaining at -30. I would really like to get higher single core scores, but i don't think it is going to be possible with the current bios on my msi x570 tomahawk gaming wifi. I could get higher multicore scores by increasing my PPT setting to ~250 but my cpu will instantly go to 90C, which is too hot imo. I would have to upgrade my cooling to do that. Currently i have a Be quiet pure loop 280mm, but eventually i want to go custom when i have a gpu that is worth going custom for(I currently have a 3060ti). If anyone still has some tweaks i can apply to get higher single core scores, let me know
  8. Hi, I've been trying to get my 5950x to run better. I initially had a pretty good overclock with PBO, but when i was at 100% usage my temps would slowly creep up to 90C. This made me unconfortable, so i've been trying some new PBO settings. Currently i get about 11000 multicore score, 4.4GHz all core and 620 singlecore, which seems to be around 4.85GHz. This is in Cinebench R20. A lot of people online seem to be getting singe core scores of about 660 with pbo. I currently have the next PBO settings: 210/235/245, while also having a -20 offset on all cores and +50(saw lower scores if i put this on +100 or higher) The multicore test seems to not go above 80C and the single core is under 60C. Does anyone know if i just got unlucky with my chip? or maybe i am just missing a few settings. if anyone has any tips to get a higher single core score, please let me know, also open to higher multicore of course.
  9. Hey everyone, thanks for the recommendations. I've done quite a bit of research today based on your suggestions and I think I'm going to put together my own keyboard(barebones, switches and caps). After thinking about it I also think i want to make it tenkeyless and i'm going for the Kailh BOX Jade switches. I'm not sure for the caps yet, because it might change based on the barebones i'm going to buy. Anyone know of any TKL's for a reasonable price? If not I think i'm gonna go for Glorious PC Gaming Race The Glorious GMMK-TKL.
  10. I've been looking at it for a bit, found a site for the Kailh BOX keys(it sends from a country nearby so it saves me some money with shipping and customs). I was wondering though, does the GMMK fullsize (barebones) come with stabilizers? The pictures i've seen of it seem to have stabilizers shown on them but I want to know for sure before I buy everything and it doesn't come with stabilizers
  11. Hey, thanks for the response. I have tried mx browns before and i did like them, but i haven't had them as my main keys before. I'll look into your recommendation.
  12. Hey, The last ~4 years i've been using the razer blackwidow ultimate 2016. lately I have been noticing that the keys sometimes come loose(numpad 0 and enter key). I also start to feel differences in actuation force. I'm going to use the keyboard mainly for typing and gaming and i prefer clicky switches. I have been looking at DAS keyboards, but I'm open to any brand except for razer, since the keyboard i have been using isn't that great for the price i have paid and because of the software. the one from daskeyboard i was looking at is the das root 4. Here a little list of what the keyboard must have: clicky or tactile maximum price around 200 euro full layout if it has software, it has to be good software Here a little list of nice to haves: rgb backlit All recommendations are appreciated, I don't have much experience with mechanical keyboards, only the blackwidow.
  13. I also bought a 3060 ti on launch day. a few drivers i had seemed to crash a lot less for me, but i don't really know which version they were. The one i currently have(461.40) is rather bad for me though. In the last 2 days, i have had multiple crashes which have either hard resetted my pc or forced me to restart my pc, because if I start any game, it is a black screen and makes the driver crash again after about 10 seconds of black screen. I really hope nvidia fixes the drivers soon.
  14. Hey, currently i have a triple monitor setup, but one of the screens is really bad(an old 753p tv), so i am thinking of buying a new ultrawide display. My main display i currently is is an LG29UM69G, which is 2560x1080p, 75Hz and has freesync. I have 3060ti(yes, i was one of the lucky few who actually has one of the magical 30 series) and i use my PC for a mix of productivity(programming for work and school) and gaming. I only use 1 display for gaming, which will be the new 3440x1440p display. I also have a monitor stand, so the stand doesn't matter to me at all. Here are the requirements that i at least want in the display: 3440x1440 75Hz or higher refresh rate Freesync or Gsync Around 350 Euro, with a max of around 400 maximum of 83cm wide, so it fits with the other monitors on my monitor stand Good enough colors to play video games with, I don't do any color accurate work monitor needs to be black Here are things that i would like it to have, but aren't dealbreakers if the display doesn't have them: Curved display Really small bezels Nipple style interface controller like the LG monitor i currently have HDR(I know this isn't gonna happen) UPDATE: I found a screen that i might want. It is a bit more than my initial budget. The one i found is the Xiaomi BHR4269GL, which as far as i can tell checks all the boxes of my must and a part of the should requirements. If anyone has ever used this monitor or heard anything about it on why i should or shouldn't buy, let me know
  15. yep, just tried 4.5Ghz all core with 1.3V, but that wasn't stable in a 2 minute stress test. 4.45Ghz is stable though and the max temp i've seen was a bit about 70C. I think i'll keep this overclock for now.
  16. That certainly true. I also think i'm mostly going to have small bursts of all core usage(compiling software and shadercompiling in unreal). Right now i put it at 1.3 volts with a core clock of 4Ghz and the temps were around 67C.
  17. Not yet. With my previous cpu(i7-6700K) i used the bios overclock, but after a while i tried overclocking it myself. After trying for quite a while i got the same results. I will definitly try to lower my voltages though
  18. While running the test built into ryzen master, the voltage is at 1.44, sometimes dipping to 1.43x volts, the frequency starts at 4.35Ghz, but slowly climbs down to 4.27Ghz. The temperature also slowly keeps climbing, but that's pretty normal. After a 2 minute run, the temperature was at a max of 82 and the clock speed was at 4.274Ghz
  19. I got my Ryzen 9 5950X running today with a Be Quiet Pure loop 280mm. While idle(cpu running at ~600MHz max) the temperatures of the cpu are between 35 and 40 Celsius. With the Ryzen Master software enabling Auto OC mode and testing, i see temperatures as high as 80 Celsius. Are these temps normal with my cooling? I don't really know if I applied enough thermal paste(went for about pea sized, since last time i applied a cooler rice sized seemed to be not enough). The thermal paste i used is Artic Silver 5
  20. i can try that tomorrow, don't really feel comfortable putting it in the oven, but if it is already broken for sure, there isn't really much to lose
  21. So i tested it again, The igpu is still seen as the main gpu, and when i look in the bios, both pci-e slots i tried show nothing in the slot when the gpu is in it. I guess I'm gonna have to buy a new gpu. I will try the 1080ti in my new pc tomorrow, but i don't have high hopes for it
  22. My pc does start with 1 cable plugged in, but i don't get any output to my display via the igpu or 1080ti
  23. The card has some debug led's, which turn on when one of the pci-e connectors isn't connected. When i connect one of the power cables, the integrated graphics also don't show me anything, which is a bit weird. I am currently updating the bios of the motherboard, let's hope this fixes it, I don't have high hopes though
  24. After i turned of my computer because it froze up, i tried to turn it back on again. It didn't. After troubleshooting everything(checking if psu was working, pc started without gpu connected, etc) i finnaly think i found what the problem is. The right pci-e 8 pin slot on the gpu. When i plug in 1 of my pci-e cables, the pc boots. after turning it off and removing the cable from the slot and putting it in the right slot, it doesn't boot and my power supply gives a little pop(i think it is a short, don't know how though). With the gpu pluged in, it doesn't turn on, because it NEEDS both power cables to run. I have a gigabyte aorus 1080ti. Please help me with this issue, if i can't fix i will have to buy a gpu pretty fast, since i will be getting a ryzen 9 5950x tomorrow. Thanks in advance
  25. Thanks for the response. One of the kits is CL 17, the other one is at CL 18. Don't know if i would really notice a difference between those 2. Here are the 2 kits I am looking at https://www.gskill.com/product/165/168/1536218671/F4-3600C17D-32GTZKWTrident-ZDDR4-3600MHz-CL17-19-19-39-1.35V32GB-(2x16GB) https://www.corsair.com/us/en/Categories/Products/Memory/VENGEANCE-LPX/p/CMK32GX4M2D3600C18 there is about a 10 euro difference where i am from between these 2, the G. skill one is the more expesive one
