BiscuitMassacre got a reaction from waviation9 in Using someone else's Product key
A product key can only be attached to 1 computer. If someone else were to use that key, it would be unbound from yours. If a product key is removed from am system, after 30 Days, the OS will auto uninstall. There are places that sell Windows for cheap, and somepeople crack it.

Cache is fine. The more RAM you got the more stuff the Windows will throw in a Cache to speed things up.
As you can see I have almost 10GB in Cache

Don't worry about it, it's just how windows manages memory. I really don't see anything unusual happening with your RAM. Everything sounds normal.

BiscuitMassacre reacted to DrMacintosh in Should I get AirPods?
Its possible that it could get the 120Hz, it would definitely be a way for Apple to set themselves apart from the competition. The 6s is still a solid phone and will be in 2018, which is a testament to Apple's support of their products.
The only way to know is to wait until September. I would still get the AirPods lol. Customer satisfaction is through the roof!

I've seen those. They're a little cheaper, but they seem to lack features.
I don't really have an option to try them out. Stores I go to don't let me try them.
This.
Because noise cancellation would be really nice to have.
I've heard the airpods have a little more bass or something, but yeah.

If she wants absolute assurance that her pictures will last:
M-DISC (Available in both DVD and Blu-Ray) - below is the 100GB BDXL Blu-Ray variant:
https://www.amazon.com/Verbatim-Disc-100GB-Jewel-98913/dp/B011PIJPOC/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1497040327&sr=8-3&keywords=m-disc%2Bblu-ray&th=1
M-DISC is basically an optical disc that uses a ceramic material as the writeable layer - in theory it'll last well over 100 years (They claim like 1000 years). They are very durable and won't degrade over time like a normal DVD/Blu-Ray will.
If you want a more cost effective solution, probably a RAID1 NAS with a second RAID1 NAS, mirrored, one of the NASes being off-site.

CDs are pretty durable, just store them in a dry pace and it's good.
It won't degrade over time or anything, at least not in 50 years.

its best practice, but its not a necessity. try researching what format to store images in is the best for archival, that should be achievable right?

If you keep a CD in a CD case and never open it, no, it will not get scratched.
Also, CDs were specifically made so that they could keep working when scratched, so that's not really a concern at all.

I tend to do 90Mbps for 1440p60, and it looks perfectly fine.

BiscuitMassacre reacted to HunterAP in Bitrate and Resolution Question.
According to this page from YouTube on recommended settings, 1080p60fps would need ~12Mbps while 1440p60fps would need ~24Mbps. Personally, I record at double the required bitrate (I record in 1440p60fps so I shoot for +48Mbps, usually 60Mbps), then render the video to target about 30Mbps in an attempt to make YouTube's compression less bad.
In your case, I'd recommend recording in a similar fashion, so for your case 50Mbps should be fine, but if notice jaggedness, blurriness, or pixelation after upscaling, then up the bitrate and keep testing the upscaled video.
The site I linked to also shows that going from 30fps to 60fps doesn't double the bitrate (AKA framerates don't scale bitrate linearly), but resolution does scale almost linearly (108p30fps is recommended for 8Mbps, while 2160p30fps which is 4x the resolution is recommended a minimum of 35Mbps and a "max" of 45Mbps).
You're better off over-shooting the bitrate required, edit you video and render it in 1440p with a target bitrate slightly higher than YT's suggestion and then upload it.

That is beautiful (not at all) and fits the budget (only 2.5x higher than the max budget)

Then when you get the HDD create two partitions. One partition that ONLY holds the OS that should be around 100GB. And then create another for programs, games, videos, photos etc.
That way you wont have to wipe the HDD when/if you upgrade to a SSD. You will simply just have to install the OS on the SSD and delete the 100GB partition off of the HDD. And then you can migrate whatever programs and games you want on the HDD to the SSD. and then expand the partition on HDD to get back the extra 100GB.

BiscuitMassacre reacted to Freezanator in Help in choosing my first smartphone EVER
@Jamiec1130 @BiscuitMassacre I've always pictured mobile OS updates to work this way. Let's say:
1.Hardware = Country
2. App = Island
3. OS = Bridge
So, first off, everything starts small, everything is not developed. But after a couple of years, the Island continues to develop which means there are more and more residents there. So, the Bridge has to widen as well for the residents to cross the Country to the Island and vice versa. When phone manufacturers stop widening (updating) the Bridge while the Island continues to develop, the traffic gets even more congested. The OS is simply a bridge between the app and the hardware. Once the phone doesn't receive any more updates while the apps keep getting updated (like my mom's iPhone 4 now) the instructions get slowed down and lag settles in. What do you think?
