  1. Hi I recently purchased an ASUS ROG Strix B550-F motherboard, and now my Xonar DGX sound card doesn't work. When I try to install the drivers, I get an error saying that "No Xonar hardware was detected" or something along those lines. I have updated the chipset drivers for the MB, but to no help. Does anyone know if Asus usually cuts compatibility like this? Or should I just be patient? The main issue for me now is that the Realtek Drivers randomly boosts the microphone gain (Sennheiser Game One) suddenly. I have tried disabling all of the software "enhancements", but nothing helps. Also, I have to almost max out the gain and input volume to even be heard on discord. Does anyone have experience with Asus' Realtek drivers?
  2. Hmm okay. I will just try and hope for the best since Microsofts tech support is near impossible to contact . I "fear" I have a lot of time to figure this out as I ordered a Ryzen 5600X...
  3. Thanks, I did not know about this method! Will this be a problem if I'm logged on with the same account on both a laptop and my current desktop? Will this method "know" which license key to use so I don't screw up my laptop?
  4. Hi So I just ordered a new motherboard and, I'm trying to figure out how to move my current Windows 10 license. I've seen articles like this (https://www.groovypost.com/howto/transfer-windows-10-license-new-pc/), and it seems like it should be possible. The problem is that I have a Windows 7 license and upgraded for free to W10, and I don't know if I can reuse the W7 activation key to activate W10. This article claims it is possible https://www.howtogeek.com/266072/you-can-still-get-windows-10-for-free-with-a-windows-7-8-or-8.1-key/. Have any of you tried this? Or am I just wasting my time and have to buy a new W10 license? (or simply learn to live with Linux)
  5. Budget (including currency): 16 000 NOK (~$1,700) Country: Norway Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: FEM-analysis, CFD-analysis, Topology optimazation. Other details: Don't need any peripherals. Software used: Fusion 360, OpenFoam, Altair Hyperworks. I'm part of DNV GL Fuel Fighter, a technical student organization at NTNU, and we work with creating an energy efficient electric car for Shell Eco-marathon. For this we need a new computer for running simulation on our car's aerodynamics and structural points. So far I've been looking at the Ryzen 9 3900X possibly combined with a RTX 2060. However, I'm not entirely sure that a GPU will actually help that much in our simulations. I can't find any good info regarding Fusion or Hyperworks, but OpenFoam seems to utilize the CPU most. If you have any knowledge about this, I would appreciate if you share it with me. Former members have advised us to go for 64 GB RAM, so I need some suggestions here. Also, the case doesn't need to be fancy. Easy to build in and good airflow is the most important. Thanks in advance
  6. I know about the MB/RAM part, that's why I'm waiting to upgrade it, but I had not considered wating for the Ryzen 4000 series. The 5500 XT costs exactly the same as the 1660 Super. EDIT: 5500 XT is slightly cheaper, but not much.
  7. As the market for used PC components in Norway is quite sparse, I don't think I will buy anything used for a reasonable price. Sadly the RX590 is not sold on any reliable websites here in Norway anymore, so I think I have to go for the 1660S. Pricewise it wouldn't make too much of a difference anyways. Thanks for the help though! I think my plan now is to buy the 1660S, try to get a stable overclock on my CPU, and then maybe order the Ryzen 5 3600 if I catch it on sale sometime soon.
  8. Budget is around 3000 NOK (Norway). Also if anyone has a decent guide for overclocking, please share it. My MB (Gigabyte Z97-HD3) comes with an "EasyTune" tool for overclocking, but when I tried it, the CPU was running a square wave of 5 sec at 30% and 5 sec at 3-4% at idle.
  9. Hi, Currently I'm running i5-4690k + GTX960, which has served me well the last years. But now it is really struggling to run Borderlands 3 on the lowest settings, and with Cyberpunk 2077 coming later this year I'm concidering either buying a new GPU or just building a new PC. When I'm playing BL3 I can see the CPU running at 80%, and GPU is pinned at 100% all the time... I'm concidering the GTX 1660 Super, or anything in that price range. I do have the money to buy a new PC, but I don't want to blow money unnecessary. I would like some input on if I can get by with a new GPU and possibly overclock my current CPU, or if I should buy a new PC altogether.
  10. If it's static electricity, I probably should just stop rubbing my wool socks against the case...
  11. Hi I just tried to connect my headset to the AUX port on the front IO on my Define R3 and heard some weird scratching/buzzing noices coming from inside of the case. No sound came through my headset, so I tried wiggling the jack and it made even more weird noices. I just unplugged the cable and put it back in, and now everything works as normal. I even tried wiggling it more, but didn't hear anything suspicious. The AUX port isn't loose in any way, so maybe there is a bad connection in the cable inside the case (?). I have my front IO connected to the soundcard (ASUS Xonar DGX), but I don't know if that has anything to do with it. Any tips are greatly appreciated
  12. I just formatted my SSD, and it seems to be working now.
  13. Hi Recently I have experienced several programs failing to launch, especially Logitech Gaming Software (LGS). This problem occured after I performed a scan with Malwarebytes, and the programs haven't worked properly since. But whats really weird is this problem often occurs only on Sundays and not so often on any other day in the week. The problem is often caused by me playing a game for sometime and start another one later on. After this, LGS will most likely not launch. I can see that the process is running in Task Manager, but the program won't launch even after I have ended the process. I have tried restarting my computer twice today, but it didn't help, even when I shut it completely off by unplugging it. Something else worth mentioning is that LGS works after the PC has been off during the night, but a restart does nothing. I have tried reinstalling LGS several times earlier, downloaded the newest version but with no luck. I have also tried to delete all the files for the program but that didn't help either. My theory is that Malwarebytes deleted a file that was pretty crusial for LGS to launch, and it isn't very easy to fix. Someone recommended that I should just format my SSD and hope that should fix my problem. I have of course tried contacting Logitech's Support, but it has been almost two weeks and no answers. I hope someone would help me or give me any tips on what I could do.
  14. Finally managed to fix it by deleting all the files manually instead of uninstalling it. Went in to ProgramFiles and AppData and just deleted everything.
  15. Shitty software indeed! I just reinstalled it, and it remembers the custom colors I made, but now only one game shows up when I scan for profiles. I am pretty sure it has to be something wrong with the software, because the surround button on my G35 only works when I unplug it and plug it in again.
  16. So my light profiles (and the game list in LGS) for my Logitech G410 are deleted every time I reboot my computer. I took a scan with Malwarebytes, and that's when the problem started. I have re-installed Logitech Gaming Software and I have uninstalled Malwarebytes, but it didn't help. I have tried to contact Logitech Support, but since they need 2 weeks to answer I will try my luck here. EDIT: the problems occurs even when I just end the process in Task Manager.
