  1. Delidded CPU... the slider on my delid tool got stuck and I couldn’t get it out with a hammer or after drilling it (broke my bit). So I had to cut the delid tool into several pieces with a hacksaw and finally got my cpu out. It works still but I have no thermal paste or liquid metal to reinstall it. I also cut my hand pretty bad. TLDR: don’t use a slightly warped 3D printed delid tool

  2. I got cable combs for my pc and after installing them it no longer worked... like lol wut?  I had to tear out a bunch of crap and my hard drive smells of burnt toast but it works now.

  3. Well the cryptocurrency apocalypse has descended upon us... maybe GPUs will be cheaper finally

  4. So around 2 weeks ago I built a shiny new NAS with a Raspberry Pi running OpenMediaVault with 2 2 tb WD Red drives set to mirror mode. However, a few days ago I suffered a catastrophic power outage which caused me to lose all the data on both drives (luckily I managed to recover the data off the NAS drives). It appears that somehow the power outage caused the partitions on the drives to disappear or the software raid in OpenMediaVault was syncing the drives or something. So I’m currently looking to replace this NAS setup as I don’t want to have to deal with recovering 400 gigabytes of data every time their is a power outage. I was originally thinking of putting a UPS on the Raspberry Pi and having it automatically shut down after the UPS detects a power outage but their is still the risk that somebody accidentally unplugs the Raspberry Pi or the UPS fails. I’m currently thinking of building a cheap pc to use as a NAS because that would be less likely to fail during a power outage. Currently I’m thinking of using one of those motherboards with integrated CPU. However, I’m not sure whether they will be powerful enough to run like FreeNAS or unRAID. I could also attach the drives to my server but unfortunately the server is 1U and can only fit 2 drives and one of the drive bays already has a hard drive in it. What do you guys think is the best option? Any suggestions for parts for the cheap pc build idea? (I have a budget of $150 for that, not including a case. The power outage appeared to have caused my fridge to break too so I don’t have much money to spend on replacing the NAS)
  5. The power went out, and my RAID array on my NAS is GONE. But all my data is intact, which is good. But the circuit breaker tripped on my mining rig during the outage and I lost a few cents.

  6. UPDATE: I fixed it. So apparently after I used DDU to uninstall my driver and rebooted to reinstall the driver, windows update would install a different driver before or after I installed the driver I wanted. That driver was the one causing issues. So I rebooted into safe mode and rolled back the driver installed by windows update and that appeared to work.
  7. I think it's some kind of issue with the driver installed or GeForce experience because it appears to only occur when those things are open The crashes, that is.
  8. It says it's working properly when the driver is working
  9. Here is a picture of what happens after I try to install drivers:
  10. I recently decided to update my drivers for my GTX 1070 and afterwards my screen went black and their was this wierd tile like pattern which appeared a minute later. It kinda looked like normal windows but with a line of giant pixels as my desktop. Afterwards I rebooted my PC and windows would not start and was stuck on a black screen with a loading icon. This happened before after driver updates so I booted into safe mode and uninstalled the driver and replaced it with the previous one, which was the only driver that appeared to work on my PC. However, after using my PC for a while and turning it off for the night, I came back the next day to find that it had gotten stuck on the same black screen with loading icon after I turned it on. I deleted the driver again and installed the earliest driver I could find. However, today I was playing overwatch and my screen suddenly went black and the same thing happened again! I don't know what to do now. In the past, I had reinstakled windows and that did not fix the issue. However, after the most recent update the drivers appear to be permemantly broken. Does anyone know how to fix this? And if I were to have to RMA my GPU, does anyone know what size screws and standoffs are used on the backplate? (I have a waterblock on my GPU, (the driver issues started before I installed the waterblock) and when I was reassembling the cooler I over tightened some of the screws and broke them in half and they are stuck in the standoff)
  11. I know a lot of iPhones had an issue like this my phone happens to always die randomly does that mean I can sue Apple?
  12. I only have 58 mb left on my 1tb meme drive rip

  13. Is YouTube down or something because I can't watch any videos?

  14. Wait... I put the batteries in backwards after the other battery exploded... IT WORKS NOW!

  15. RIP my 5 year old Logitech MK320... It happened to die right when I was trying to set up my new Ubiquiti controller on a Pi Zero and I only have one other keyboard and it's kinda cable managed to my PC...

  16.  I actually did buy a Ubiquiti AP AC LR, and the thing is by far the best wifi AP i've ever used. Except for the fact that the controller software won't work on my PC so I have to get it on a RPi

Can I ask a question about the Ubiquiti AP?   With it plugged in and setup, do you see the AP and the router as separate wifi's that can be connected to (when viewing on a phone or tablet say?).  Or, does it simply extend the existing wifi?  I'm considering purchasing one but am worried I will get that scenario where the phone is connecting to the hardware furthest away instead of the device with the strongest(closest) signal.

  17. I bought an EK S360, the kit was pretty nice and easy to install. The only problem I had with it was that the screws weren't labeled and I had some trouble figuring out which was which.
  18. I think it works because my devices connected with Ethernet to it never have issues
  19. I have around $200 to spend and I'm not sure if i want to replace the router as I think buying the access points would be cheaper
  20. So I need some help, my wifi signal is terrible in my house and I'm trying to figure out how to fix it. I have a Netgear C3000-100NAS with a Linksys EA6100 AC1200 router connected to it. I bought the Linksys about a year ago because the range on the Netgear was so bad that you needed a direct line of sight in order to have a decent connection. Initially, after I bought the Linksys router the range was amazing and I could get a wifi signal everywhere in my house. However, strangely enough, the range on that router has become worse and worse, to the point where the signal has trouble getting through more than one wall (my walls are normal drywall). Additionally, for some reason both of the routers have issues where the wifi randomly stops working and turning the routers on and off doesn't fix it. I determined it is not my ISP's fault because I have my server and my computer wired to the Netgear with a network switch and they never have problems. I've tried resetting the Linksys and not using it for a few days but the range is still bad. Also, I determined that the Linksys wasn't overheating or anything. I originally wanted to buy a mesh router system or a new router but those things are way too expensive. However I saw that those Ubiquiti Unifi access points were relatively cheap and had excellent range. I'm thinking of buying a few of these: https://www.amazon.com/Ubiquiti-UAP-AC-LITE/dp/B017MD6CHM/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1484586766&sr=8-2&keywords=ubiquiti+ac. I have a few questions though, can I connect it to my Netgear router/modem via Ethernet and will it work as an access point for that router or can they wirelessly connect? Also, how many do I need for my house (I live in a single family house, around 2600 square feet, 3 floors)? Also, do i need a computer constantly on to control the access points?
  21. RIP everything on my SSD... Had to reinstall Windows, (it was corrupted), but because I already had several times where I had to do this, I backed up everything on my SSD to my HDD because I'm smarter now.

  22. I just made my radiator rgb and it looks lit (bad pun)

  23. Lol this reminds me about how all of the default windows 10 applications on my PC have simultaneously stopped working... Microsoft, go fix your stuff!
