  1. Hey everyone, I think the title speaks for itself. For the last two years I was studying my ass off to get into med school so I was fortunately (or unfortunately to some degree) not aware of the semiconductor/GPU shortage that has set the enthusiast community on fire. When I got out of my cave I realized my system with i5 6500 16G, and GTX 970 is practically obsolete for my requirements in a gaming system, and any GPU I can get my hands on has approximately a 250% markup on it. My question is, what GPU old or current gen, can get me 70-80 plus FPS on 1080p guaranteed on high/ultra settings on the new AAA releases? Of course I will pair the new GPU with a CPU that won't bottleneck it, so any pointers on that front is hugely appreciated as well. I have a significant sum saved up, but I'd like to spend as little as possible on a GPU as I'm getting ripped off in the first place. Thank you everyone in advance.
  2. Budget (including currency): 1300-1500 EUR (all budget for the PC) Country: Turkey Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Counter-Strike, AAA Games, light AutoCAD and Adobe Photoshop Other details Have an existing system with GTX 970 4GB, intel i5 6500, 8x2 16GB ram (2133 MHz) 128 GB SATA SSD and a 1 TB hard drive. I plan to build this new pc late June, early July this year. I haven't been following the tech scene for four years and have no clue about GPU or CPU specs or bottlenecks other than mining and chip shortage has skyrocketed GPU prices. Main question that's been bugging me is should I sell my system alltogether and keep the money for the build or scalp it for some parts such as RAM and storage. For the target performance I'm aiming for 144 plus FPS on 1080p high/very high settings as I'll mostly be playing FPS games. I'd also prefer complete nvme storage if the budget allows it. I'd appreciate any input or help. Have a good day everyone!
  3. Hey LTT forums, I have been using a galaxy s7 edge for 2.5 years know and it has been a rather pleasant experience but I want to return to an iOS device. I watched the keynote and I got very mixed feeling about what I should get. Apart from the thickness and the single camera config the XR seems like a great deal but the LCD screen really bothers me. Should I get the XS for the steel build and the better screen or is 250 dollars too much for that kind of improvement? Please let me know. (ps: please keep in mind that I will not buy the XS max and I can afford both the XS and the XR but as a student I have to consider the cheaper one if the differences are minor.)
  4. For some reason in my country g903 is 50 bucks more expensive. Would buy a g903 if that wasn't the case
  5. thank you! going to run to my local store and buy a g900 and a extended mouse mat this weekend (cant afford powerplay )
  6. Hi guys, my g502 has been with me for about 3-4 years. It has no issues but it started to get old, the cable is in a bad condition and I just want a change. Would a transition from a g502 to g900 be too rough? I read some reviews and I am not quite sure.
  7. I thought so too thanks for the advice. But I get really frustrated because I have all this money laying around and I am in a time frame so bad I have to wait for everything
  8. Hi guys, I have a i5 6500 and I was wondering if I should upgrade my cpu to a 8700k or wait for next gen intel processors. I want to upgrade my cpu because I plan to pick up a 1170ti or 1180 and I don't want any bottlenecks and I want a cpu that would last me 2-3 years. What do you guys think? Wait for next gen or buy a 8700k now? Note: I will do slight overclocking with 8700k if I get it and I will not delid it.
  9. Hey LTT forums, I am planning to upgrade my setup and I was thinking about starting with the monitor because I am waiting for the 11xx series for the gpu. I want a 2k panel with 100hz+ refresh rate and 1-4 ms response time. I also prefer something 24-27 inch but 27 is a little big for me and I'm trying to be budget friendly to save up for the gpu and the cpu. Btw, I also have a strong contender and is it any good? (https://eu.aoc.com/en/gaming/products/ag241qx) Do you guys have any recommendations? Please let me know.
  10. I was REALLY impressed. I also have a 970 and this card can take on overclokcs like a beast. I aslo plan to get a 2k display for it and i might do your settings.
  11. @AskTJ is right here. First gen ryzens just feeds on high speed memory like a drug. Your ram is 2133 Mhz (fairly slow, 2400mhz is bare minimum for 1600x) and it is in single channel which makes it even worse. Swap the sticks immediately. Frame issue is probably a bottleneck because of ram as Fallout 4 was a breeze for me with i5 6500 and GTX 970.
  12. Option 1: choose the 1060 Option 2: sell both and get a better card (Far better)
  13. Absolute overkill for your monitor. GTA 5 and W3 has some ridiculous settings when maxed out which can degrade your performance up to 15% (Hairworks cough cough). Crank down some settings just a little bit and you will see 120+ in 1080p. Get a 100+ hz 1080p panel or 1440p 60hz panel so you don't waste that 1070ti.
  14. Stick with the 1280x1024 as 800x600 is usually wandering around like a mole half-blind in fps games. 10hz wont make a lot of difference anyway.
  15. I don't know when the new gen of nvidia cards are going to be released but I can tell you that ("Will the 1160 be released with the 1180 and 1170?") xx60 series usually release after 3-4 weeks after xx70 and xx80 series are released. I also recommend that you wait for the next gen.
