  1. Ah, yeah I thought it'd have to be default or something. Thank you!
  2. Yes they are all on an AD environment. This isn't doable as these users have multiple machines for different purposes and can't share the same desktop as they'd interfere with other machines. That last one, "You can also add items to the default use to show on all users desktops." is what I'm looking for. I thought maybe just creating a 'Default' folder in the windows/users folder but I wasn't sure if that'd work
  3. Hello, I'm trying to figure out a way to create a default desktop for any user that logs into a machine. I have created a custom image over a PXE boot so that any user on my network can baseline their machine with programs that is commonly used throughout the office. When they baseline they simply change the computer's name and then join the domain. Only issue is that I wish to have the machine create their desktop upon signing into the machine with their domain account with all the shortcuts to relevant programs and .exe's available on their desktop, so they can easily get back to whatever they need to do without having to recreate their desktop every time they sign into the machine. I understand that I can make the domain user have their desktop be stored in network storage but this isn't doable so I'm looking for this alternative. Can Windows have a 'default' desktop that it gives every user upon signing into the machine? I can't seem to google the correct set of words to find this specific feature so I'm hoping someone on here knows. Thanks in advance!
  4. Not sure, I didn't make the purchase. This user simply got approved to get this card and wanted me to troubleshoot why thunderbolt doc isn't working. I can't find the ports on the board to plug in a thunderbolt card so I'm just going to go with the option that this computer doesn't support thunderbolt. It is confusing why bios lets me enable thunderbolt but every port on the computer is only usb-c 3.2. Thanks for the help!
  5. That's what I was thinking but why do I have the option to enable thunderbolt in my bios? Neither the card nor the front USB-C ports seem to work.
  6. Hello all, Looking for assistance troubleshooting a problem with a thunderbolt dock into a computer. I have a dell precision 7820 that I installed a StarTech USB-C PCIe Card (Found here) When using smaller USB-C docks I can detect drives connected but only after disabling then enabling the PCIe card. When I try to plug in a thunderbolt dock (OWC Thunderbolt 3 Dock) I get the error "Thunderbolt may have limited functionality" and nothing plugged into the dock is detected. I am using the included Thunderbolt cable that came with the dock (Has a lightning symbol with a 3 on the connector), I have drivers updated for the computer, pcie card, and even one that came for the dock and still nothing. I even have the thunderbolt option enabled with no security in the bios. I'm hitting a wall of I don't know what else I can check to get this thunderbolt dock to work. Any suggestions?
  7. Tried both in case and outside on a anti static bag on top of a box. Sadly no dice. Appreciate the attempt though!
  8. Yeah I'll just buy another cpu and hope for the best. I tried rebending the one bent pin I saw on the original board which looks really good now but no post. That's when I bought the new board because I didn't think the cpu would be the problem with a board with a bent pin. Have to wait another week to find out.
  9. Tried both known working thermal take 850w gold and brand new thermal take 750w. Neither work. I'll probably just order another cpu since I got a refund on the first cpu. Currently running a 980ti but with or without the gpu installed it has the same issues. 5820k is going for 25 bucks and the mobo is going for 100. So 125 bucks vs ~200 both via ebay? Better price to performance. Plus I originally had a x99 mobo in storage but after finding bent pins had to replace it anyways. Still cheaper than that alternative.
  10. Here's a small list of what I have Gigabyte X99 UD4 mobo Intel i7-5820k I have swapped different ram, power supply, and have even upgraded my gigabyte x99 ud3 to the ud4 after I found bent pins thinking it was the issue. Everytime I plug in and power on the computer it comes on for a second and turns back off. Never posting to bios. I've flashed the bios with the mobos flash feature but it still fails to post. The FBIOS_LED stays on after failing to post. At this rate I'm going to also replace the CPU but I've already bought so many parts and replacements I want to double check myself before I spend more money. Thanks in advance!
  11. Yeah I tried it in another system (the one I borrowed the graphics card from) and it has the same issue so I know it's not power supply or cable issues. Just wanted to see if anyone knew of some other work around or would bring up something I missed. Thanks!
  12. Yeah I was thinking that if I'm not even in windows yet it can't be drivers making bios have green lines. Tried different DP cables and monitors so I know it's not them. Must be factory defect. Got from newegg with warranty so just gonna RMA it. Yeah I thought I was going crazy and reseated it like 4 times. Even tried it in a different computer and got the same issues. Just gonna RMA, thanks!
  13. Purchased a new 3070ti and after installing it I either get no post or post with green lines on the screen, even in bios. If I run 3DMark it gets to the graphics test 1 or 2 sometimes and then crashes and just shows me a black screen till I restart the computer. Trying to see if I'm missing something and if I can fix it before I RMA it. Just so you know: I have put my old graphics card in the computer and have no issues, yes I have individual cables for both 8-pins (no splitter), and I am not overclocking as it's fresh out of the box.
  14. Ran the MemTest. Ran for like 7+ hours and found no errors on any of the sticks of ram
  15. Every since a few months ago, every time I try to update or shut down my computer, and the only option is to update and shutdown, I get "Memory Management" blue screen which leads me into a loop where update blue screens, it restarts, sends me to troubleshoot screen, and then tries to update again if I just restart or click continue to windows. If I run the memory test it says all is well and nothing is wrong with my ram. I know the easy option is to just replace the ram but 1) I don't accept that as a valid answer to my troubleshooting self and 2) I don't really want to waste my money on new ram when this ram is perfectly fine. I did have a similar post before but now I'm having new issues. I am now getting a blue screen randomly saying store data structure corruption. I assume that's the RAM as well. I used both sets of RAM on a old motherboard that held a Intel i7-5820k and never had blue screen issues. I swapped to Ryzen recently and have been having these issues ever since. Is there anything I can do to fix this issue? Processor AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 8-Core Processor 3.59 GHz Installed RAM G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 2x8GB 2400 & 2x8GB 3200 (running both in 2400 obviously, bought 2400 to start but upgraded later sadly) GPU 1080TI Motherboard Gigabyte B550 AORUS PRO ATX AM4
