I'd like to issue a warning regarding the recent sponsor Athletic Green AG1 on The WAN Show. I'd advise against taking sponsorships from supplement companies, as this is a very slippery slope with known shady regulations.

I got sold on AG1 from another youtuber I watch and tried it for a month. After the month my bloodwork came back with highly elevated liver enzymes. I don't drink alcohol, nothing has changed other than taking AG1 every morning, and I have 5 years of quarterly blood work which shows this is very abnormal for me.

You can find a lot of people complaining about the same thing online. I even contacted AG1 about it and they offered me a full refund and said it happens to some people. Supplement sponsorships are a very slippery slope. Without having regular bloodwork, people can seriously and permanently injure their organs by over supplementation.

    Concerns regarding Epomaker’s sponsorship.

hello! I’m a long time watcher, back in the NCIX days. I’ve been in the Mechanical Keyboard hobby since 2008 and currently moderate /r/mechanicalkeyboards. In the past I’ve been in direct contact with Plouffe via X formerly twitter, however I felt it pertinent to address this here. Epomaker was a recent sponsor on the scorpion chair. We felt that it was necessary to inform your team that Epomaker has a long standing ban on Reddit for quite a few anti consumer practices. I have a lot of respect for LTT and feel that it’s necessary to raise these concerns as Epomaker does not fit the mold for a quality sponsor. I’ve included links to previous Reddit posts regarding Epomaker that I feel is important. If you have any other questions, please feel to reach out here or through Reddit/Discord. My account is Cobertt on all platforms.

OR13N reacted to Other James in Weekly Sponsor Concerns Update - Jan 05, 2024
Hey all! Happy new year. We’re back at it with a couple long awaited follow ups.

    ASUS
I know you have all been waiting for more information regarding the influx of ASUS complaints we’ve seen over the past half year or so. When we last posted an update a few of us had a sit down with our ASUS contact and laid down both short term and long term goals and expectations. Internally, we had a date in mind of when we expected them to hit those short term goals. We are not going to hit that date. While many of you may be happy to hear that we are not renewing with ASUS for 2024, in the end we are a bit disappointed that they have made no progress towards those short term goals.

There are a couple of additional things I wanted to note, just to offer some transparency. The members of our business team have different relationships with different brands and partners. And ASUS was a long standing one. We truly believed that the contact we have spoken with wanted to facilitate the changes within ASUS. But the problems were so deeply rooted and systemic that we don’t see a timeline where the smaller fixes end up being addressed anytime soon. We really did want to give our contacts the benefit of the doubt, but in the end we have sadly just been left with doubt.

That being said, there are some projects that you may see that are rollovers from last year that we still need to get out in the near future. But after that, we have no plans for 2024. That doesn’t mean the door is closed forever. We do want to keep talking with them, keep monitoring them to see if they take any strides to fixing the issues, especially in their customer support department.

We also just want to make a quick note that this is on a sponsorship end. I can’t speak if non-sponsored coverage will pop up at some point. Or if one of their GPUs will end up in a build we do on stream. But we will not be taking money or product from them in exchange for anything we produce until we see follow through on improving their products and customer support.

    Secretlab
I also wanted to follow up regarding Secretlab because we did see an additional post regarding a customer support rep using some…questionable language. When we last did an update for Secretlab we had expressed that we expected better from them. At that point in time, internally, we had pretty much come to the agreement that we wouldn’t be working with Secretlab until we see much needed improvements.

We appreciate everyone for sharing their experiences with us. While we can’t rectify every problem you may face with a brand, it does help shine a light on larger issues when we talk with our partners. And we like to try different avenues to see if we have any luck. One of which can be putting you in touch with reps from different brands. Again, we ask that you’re respectful to those contacts, to each other, and to LMG staff and moderators as well.

    Thanks again.

At least it's not as bad as the 90's where you'd literally see your flagship cpu become half the speed of the next flagship only a year later.

Nice touch that the "nobody likes being given something only to have it taken away from you" B-roll has a Stadia controller being taken away.

Anyway, largely fair arguments...unfortunately. I think people really do underestimate how fucking expensive hosting video is (and why YouTube has basically remained a monopoly as a result)

Watched the video on 720p on a Fold 3, looked super crisp. I agree that we don't really need it, and I rarely change to anything over 720 or 1080.

speaking on bandwidth and "more resolution isn't always better", i was watching this on floatplane, on a 2012 13" MacBook Pro, which only has a 1280x800 display. therefore, there's no need for me to bump the res to 1080p (the max i have as i don't have the 4k tier, there's no point i don't have a 4k display), and look at this:

look at the blockyness of the background. i wish since Linus obviously knows that it matters that the 720p experience was actually good, because why else would you have it. i understand that setting it to 1080 on this computer is pointless, since it only has a 720p display effectively, but then the quality is so bad it looks more like 480 due to all the blocks..... ugh

You can play AAA titles in low to medium settings, not sure about City Skylines since it is a CPU intensive game and can tax yours pretty easily. Consider getting AMD? LIke an old 2600 or 3600 if it's available in the second hand market there.

You don't need to worry about "damaging" your components, there won't be any. You just won't get the fps you need since the GPU is so old.

I disagree-- mine does 4.1 at 1.375V with sufficient cooling and power pretty easily, and most chips will do 4.2 if you go a bit above "daily driver" voltages.

Nevertheless, 4 flat is very impressive on the stock cooler. Have you tested it with something more intense than gaming, like prime95 or Cinebench R23?

ignore any bottleneck you might have because the graphics card is temporary. It just doesn't matter.

    Credit to: @LukeSavenije

The following list is based on facts, ranked on power delivery and known problems. The list will include boards that support CPU overclocking available at retail from different brands.

There are still differences in performance among boards of the same tier. As a result, those that barely made it into that tier will be in orange while those that are better than others in the same tier are in blue. Unless specified, boards sharing the same name and chipset in different form factors are ranked the same.

    For advanced users: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Smj5dh97n32wJqm5dkdDcQt8ID7vH52-lKzaaXUUQx8/edit?usp=sharing

    AMD

All current draw figures are based on Prime95 small FFT with AVX unless otherwise specified, in other words the worst case scenario.

Only often recommended sku of CPUs in the same generation and core/thread count configuration is named, others share the same rating.

Zen scales down frequency and voltage according to EDC (current limit) and TDC (thermal limit) settings of the motherboard so in theory you won’t cook the VRM of any board at stock, you just lose frequency.

For tier A and above, due to lack of feasible CPUs that allow testing of the boards at higher current ratings, there are some level on guessing in terms of how much more power the VRM can take.

    AM4 (Athlon, Ryzen 3, Ryzen 5, Ryzen 7, Ryzen 9)

B550 and X570S Speculation: If you cant find the board above, then it should be here. If it's already up there, then ignore what it's placed here

    TR4 (Ryzen Threadripper 1xxx and 2xxx) X399

sTRX4 (Ryzen Threadripper 3xxx) TRX40 (largely guessing since there's little data)
