Energycore got a reaction from sub68 in one of the threads of all time
I get that and I don't want to downplay the tough position you're in, don't worry about that. What I mean is, be kind to yourself despite of that. Tell yourself things that will make you feel loved and accepted. I care about you and I know this will work because it worked on me and several other people I've seen.
Is there someone you reach out to when you're feeling good and want to do something, or share something with them? Do you see yourself doing that?

Sir, you are you and not anyone else. And you're very valuable. So don't let these kinds of thoughts win. Fight them.

Other AVs might be better at that, but it seems like they have their own share of problems. Injecting root certs, having their own vulnerabilities, hijacking browser sessions, interfering with Windows updates etc.
I actually really like Windows Defender. It's the only AV I recommend. It's just a shame about false positives being so annoying. If Microsoft made a good false positive report system, or just made it so that defender remembered programs I whitelist then I'd say it was as flawless as an AV can be.

Maybe we start looking for Antivirus software that does respect this kind of thing? I don't care about throwing Windows Defender away again tbh

Sadly, Microsoft do make it hard.
Disabling it is damn near impossible, and on my computer qBittorent constantly gets flagged. I have to go through the process of unblocking it like once a week because windows defender seems to forget exceptions every time it gets updated. Oh and if you click the wrong option once it deletes the program files.
I can see both sides of this. I get that Microsoft wants to protect users, and hidden, malicious crypto miners have gotten quite common in recent years. But at the same time I feel really bad for nicehash or any other program that has been incorrectly flagged. Microsoft doesn't seem to care about fixing any false positives that defender has. The qBittorent issue has been going on for like a year and no fix is in sight.
Maybe this petition will light a much needed fire under microsoft's butt to at least make them fix defenders amnesia, or rework their false positive report system so they it actually does something.

Energycore reacted to REAVER117 in Dell Using Reduced Core RTX 3070 in Alienware m15 R5?
Yeah, I'm within the return window. I was hoping to get to the bottom of this, I had assumed it was a software or maybe a VBIOS issue. Sounds like it's more widespread so I figured I'd try to get the word out.

in all fairness, i'm not too upset at an abundance of caution. False negatives are an issue, but not false positives

Yeah, that's right. Same on NVIDIA's site:

Considering the number of malwares out there that makes use of mining to make money out of your computer without you ever knowing about it, Microsoft blocking them to protect the majority of their users is a good thing. Same reason why most other standalone security solutions also block anything mining related.
If miners want to mine on Windows, they can simply deactivate Windows Defender, it's not hard. It's easier than starting to mine in the first place.

For every one miner who is slightly inconvenienced by this "false positive" how many other users are benefitted? I would guess a lot. It's not hard to add an exception to Windows Defender, or to disable it all together.
I'm fine with this.

I mean, if Defender just said 'hey, here's a piece of software that you might not want. Click here to remove it' that would be fine.
Instead it just deletes it without warning, then refuses to restore it and if you download it again guess what. It deletes it again XD.

Energycore got a reaction from Latvian Video in beg for and old and used computer so that I can Work
Hi! Welcome to the forums.
Unfortunately we do not allow begging directly on the forums.
You have a couple choices you can try:
- Go to an internet cafe and ask for their scrap computers / parts, usually they'll have something they won't mind parting with and if you visit a couple places you might get yourself a complete computer.
- Depending on how dire your situation is, you might be able to scrap the equivalent of 50-100 USD and those will easily buy a computer that works well enough for office tasks.
I apologize for not being able to help further.

Energycore got a reaction from WhitetailAni in Tesoro Excalibur v2 & Sagitta Spectrum Giveaway
Hey LTT!
I want to enter the Tesoro Excalibur v2 giveaway because some 6 months ago a friend of mine spilled soda over my Deathstalker and got pretty much all the keys sticky to the point of not even being usable (some of them would get stuck down, some you couldn't even press without putting all your force). I cleaned each key and membrane with alcohol and even went to the extreme of spreading glicerin over them to try and lubricate the interface, but the keys have never been the same.

Crackling at high volumes sounds like a hair is caught in the headphone driver. You may want to consider tearing it down and checking for that before spending more money.
For 300Ω loads the Magni 3 is better than the Liquid Spark in virtually every measurable aspect, not just corner cases, and the Magni Heresy significantly better still.
If you do still decide to buy a DAC/amp around that price point, and are purely chasing objective measured performance for the money:
The Sabaj a10h might be worth looking into; its amplifier circuit is a clone of the Topping L30, currently the highest SINAD amplifier on Audiosciencereview, and manufacturer measurements appear to confirm a comparable performance level. I believe a unit is waiting for review at ASR at some point if you want to wait for that. Cheaper than the Liquid Spark on Amazon.com.mx. Edit: The a10h appears to have a poor grounding layout or power supply coupling to mains power, giving it high mains noise. Even though the amplifier circuit itself performs on-par with the L30 and the problem could probably be fixed cheaply with a lower leakage wall power supply, I can't recommend it as highly given these issues.
The Liquid Spark DAC, Modi, and JDS Atom aren't available on Amazon.com.mx. If Aliexpress is an option and you resample to 48kHz, the Meizu hifi dongle performs on par with the above for about $25USD. The Tempotec Sonata HD Pro is a dongle at about the price you're looking for with comparable performance, but you might feel that the dongle setup with 3.5mm out instead of RCA is a bit janky. The SMSL Sanskrit 10th Mk II is about $150USD and performs slightly better than the above in most measures but has low frequency IMD issues that make me reluctant to recommend it. Khadas Tone Board and Topping D10 are also good candidates around that price.

that still uses google services. if you want to get away from google, you have to give up Play Services, and therefore the Play Store.

Energycore got a reaction from sub68 in [HTML/JS/PHP] Wordpress contact form sending emails to spam
Hey everyone!
Today I'm tapping into the wisdom of you web developers out there.
Basically, I installed a plugin for easy contact forms and personalized it.
I know the style looks terrible, don't worry about it xD
The problem I have is when I submit, I can set the email to send to in the configuration page, but it's sending to spam. Here's the configuration and an example.
The plugin I'm using is this one
https://contactform7.com/
Any ideas why this might be the case?
