  1. Get some sleep man! but thank you for the posts! other news I got one of my servers fixed before i go out of town for the week.
  2. More bad news I work up to all my folders stopping... I have no clue why but my best guess is the power went out and my UPS's can only support a full load for 3 min. Probably not top 10 now but it all go's to a great cause so who cares. Time to grind my way back up!
  3. Well I got to top 10 sweet but.... 1 of my servers turned off on its own and dell Idrac says "System BIOS has halted"... I'm to tired to fix it tonight...
  4. Climbing up!!! I am going to dig up some old 10 series GPUs to throw them in a server and see what I can do for day 4 I have been waiting all day for this! just please pray for my power bill and happy folding!
  5. I am eager to see day 3 I've put in some work for what I have!
  6. Ayyy I got a mention cool, also I folded before but started again just because the event and I kinda forgot about it! Good luck every one and happy folding!
  7. Hello I just had this idea and the Wan show where they talked about 10 gig to your home being unneeded because the upload bandwidth needed I had the idea of using cloud storage but to be able to mount and run programs directly from the cloud such as when you buy a new steam game instead of downloading it you play directly from in online storage. For example if steam was to up their infrastructure have high bandwidth and somewhat fast storage and a user had 10 gig home Internet they could in theory not have to download a game and play it directly from the cloud storage location depending on latency of their fiber connection but since fiber typically has very low latency it would be something I'm curious about as well as that that would up protection from hacking and injection since technically it would only be running in your memory and the game files could be kept secure. Along with that windows could boot via PXE and you could probably run the whole operating system not just the installer without any hard drive. Meaning people could have hardware with no storage in the future. Real world examples of this today would be an experiment I ran with 10 gig LAN and my unraid server on my cash SSD which is 2 terabytes and I'm able to install games to it with it mapped as a network drive and run the game off that when I add firewall rules of course or else Microsoft defender tries to scan everything which brings up the issue of making sure those files aren't tampered with and verified to be safe to prevent viruses and malware infecting people's computers. Especially in the case where you would boot your whole operating system over the network which I did find a YouTube video of someone who did this but I have not tested it. Another thought along with having your whole entire OS boot from a cloud storage provider would be the ability to download files from the file provider game provider AKA steam directly to your cloud storage with a lot bigger pipeline to that storage since more than likely steam would be hosting one of their servers and the data center as well with all the game files already on it meaning it would be a local connection to everything else in the data center and that connection could be upwards of like 100 Gigabit or much faster with current technologies. What are is your guys's thoughts, ideas or arguments?
  8. Hello I'm in the military's and currently getting some really good pay 1 already own a home and I'm getting out and don't plan on moving. I currently have 2 servers in a rack in my garage with a lot of extra space. so my goal is to move all the gaming computers (2) and workstation (1) to the rack that is in its own climate controlled zone for my house and buy rack mounted cases for them. all systems currently have 10 G fiber over the LAN and I have drops to the house in the places the systems are currently and a switch with plenty of open ports. i have seen fiber docks for 10G fiber but they don't have enough display outputs the 2 gaming systems have 3 screens each 1 is 1080 at 185hz and the second is 1440p by 144hz for gaming I only really need 1 monitor to run at the high refresh rate so a dock that supports 1440p at 144hz over a 10g fiber line or over any fiber line that is relatively cheep for 50M I was looking at docks, really long display port cables and fiber usb3.0, secondly I would like to have a KVM that i can control remotely that would allow me the switch but then like a reverse KVM so i can have multiple outputs at the same time as in I can go from my gaming pc to my workstation to my server with out getting out of my chair while my kids do there homework on a (vm) from the server and my wife works from here gaming/ everything else computer all at different desks at the same time. I don't know it the tech exists and by cheep I mean less the 2000 for a full solution or less then 500 just for all pcs in a different room and only 1 work station.
  9. what cpu cooler are you going to use if it is stock wraith cooler you should be fine but keep in mind ram hight and your cpu cooler as the ram u are getting is tall. also buy the wd blue 500 i did both drives and i ended up replacing my Lexar NM610 because it dose not have that many reads or writes. so it died early.
  10. its been running for days now and has done nothing the whole time!

  12. Hey so i took what is normally my cpu rendering server added all the gpus i had laying around in the 2 empty pcie slots and started folding for the ltt team, problem is my 3800x and gtx 1080ti hybrid are cooking and crushing them proteins but my R9-390 is sitting at idle ive tried a couple things and looked for guides but got no results anyone else find a solu tion.
  13. Easy thanks for the help @Windows7ge I'll give it a try when the nics get in.
  14. Just win 10 pro, so if I leave my regular network with my isp how I have it with 192.168.x.x and made a new sub net like 10.10.10.xx and statically made each ip like 10.10.10.01 for sys A and 10.10.10.02 for sys b and the then change there default gateway to the others static ip? @Windows7ge thanks for the help!.
