I would expect the LTT tech news forum to have more sensibility and respect, as well as an understanding of both sides than general youtube comments. Please check your emotions before posting.

I'm surprised this topic wasn't created by...someone else.

I don't really find the results surprising because these are worldwide numbers, not necessarily what people in the US are buying. The other BIG factor to consider here is these numbers are conveniently taken from the month prior to the Samsung Galaxy S9/+ launch which would undoubtedly result in a slump in sales for Samsung whose customers would be holding out for the new device.

It was only the easily lead on forums like this that thought the security flaws would effect stock prices etc.   Of course it didn't help that every tech media identity on the planet seized the opportunity to write an article that would generate more clicks than a clicker beetle in click beetle clicking competition.

Your CPU cooler has much more surface area and will dissipate heat more efficiently than you GPU cooler.  Just because it's not hot, doesn't mean that it's not doing it's job.

The way your GPU cooler behaves has no correlation with how your CPU cooler behaves.

I just like to point out that if the products were as good as they claim then they would never know how good apple support was.

Do these people know they need to have issues with their products before they call on support?

In all my years (30 as an enthusiast including 3 working tech support in a shop), I have had to send back one acer laptop (hdd failure) and one watch.  That's it for needing tech support, so I guess apple must have a lot of dodgy products if tech support has a well known reputation (good or bad).

Look. The point of the issue isn't actually that Apple can or can't do what they are doing. The point is that Apple's business practices are shit, and their supposed commitment to consumers is merely a facade, while they do their best to monopolize via vertical integration. It is "embrace, expand, extinguish" without the expanding and barely with the embracing.

Which don't get me wrong. It isn't surprising or "amoral" for an entity with the explicit purpose of profit maximization to do these things. But it is "anti-consumer" and the only reign on it, outside of legislation is to vote with one's wallet

Unless you know how much he's paying for electricity, the assumption that he's going to pay more electricity than he can earn is completely false. Especially when you follow this with a link to a profitability calculator that basically says that he would need to pay roughly $0.4 / KWh for that to be true ...

There's almost no point in talking about this.  Every time a story rises (even when there is undeniable evidence) people just dismiss it and start rambling on about fake news, false flags, false news, exploits, they do it too, NSA backdoors etc etc etc etc...   Forget the fact innocent people die everyday in gas attacks, I want to argue a moot point I have no actual knowledge of and rely on media reports that I only just claimed were fake news in the last thread.

done12many2 reacted to Cookybiscuit in Ryzen 2700X OCed to 4.3Ghz (1.4v) across all cores, performance numbers included.
People have been saying "effective multi-core utilization in games is just around the corner" since Bulldozer came out and it still hasn't happened, CPUs with fewer, stronger cores still win handily. Buying components in the hope that they'll be better in the future doesn't seem like too bright an idea, a 2500K is still a perfectly good CPU in 2018, a 8150 belongs in the bin.

That said, it isn't all about gaming of course.

The long game is for those who invest in different things.  My retirement check is a result of a previous career combined with investments, which allowed me to retire much earlier than my peers.  Guess what I do with most of that?  I reinvest it.    I've also bought homes along the way which are now rental investments that not only pay for themselves, but pay me while they are at it.  Only fools sit back and cry about this and that.   The rest of us just make shit happen.

Crypto is supplemental income that I use for PC parts money.   I have a very expensive habit of buying most new tech and crypto makes it possible for me to maintain that hobby without cutting into other areas of my finances.  My kids love it because when dad upgrades, so do they (with my not so old parts ).

I think you've just made a poor attempt at validating the topic of this thread (crypto's death) by highlighting a very well-know bubble in BTC history bursting.  A bubble bursting does not mean that something is dead or even on its way to death.  Keep pushing that agenda if you must (it's popular, so I get it), but this time next year guess what people will still be talking about?  "is this the end?" for the 1000th time by then.

Take out the bubble and you'll notice that BTC is on a continued upward trend.  Even the chart you provided show this (best part if you ask me.  )

The debates and hopes for the death of anything will just go circles in this community.  Probably best for us to just wait till 2019 and check back in on how well the LTT financial experts are doing in the area of market predictions?

Meanwhile, I'll continue to make money as those around me capitulate based on FUD.
