Not sure what those guides are talking about but it's been perfectly safe for me for years.  I do not use pure vinegar, but a mix with mostly water.  I flush my acrylic reservoirs and GPU blocks with a vinegar/water mix all the time.  Once I'm done cycling the vinegar / water mix through the loop, I flush the loop thoroughly with water.

As mentioned by @PCGuy_5960, you're generally better off with a manually configured OC.  The auto OCs are getting better, but they are still a long ways off from dialing in an OC as good as you can if you take the time to do it yourself.  In some examples, auto OCs are down right excessive in the amount of voltage they set.

AFAIK you can usually get the same clock speeds with much lower voltage, so most of the time you're better off OCing it yourself.

There are quite a few 1600 and 1600X CPUs outscoring yours at MUCH lower clocks so I'm led to believe that your higher clock is a result of weak memory.  This is also in the CPUz screenshot that you provided.   If you run weak timings/clocks on your memory, you can run higher clocks on your core.  At the end of the day, higher CPU clocks won't matter if you can't keep the CPU cycles fed.

It really doesn't matter if you run a CPU at 4.2 GHz or at 3.9 GHz if they output the same amount of work.

Yeah. I ended up switching because the particular games I played didn't like Ryzen all that much, and because a BIOS update actually caused a reduction in my stable memory speed. I have 3200 MHz memory, but the best I could do on my 1600X was 3066 (any more aggressive timings than the XMP ones were unstable, also), and that aforementioned BIOS update forced me to 2933.

So I figured screw it, and got the 8700K.

It's pretty good, even though I'm still on the Hyper 212 Evo I used on the 1600X.

Yup, memory pretty much determines your performance. I tried running tighter timings, lower clocks with tighter timings, but no luck, better RAM is needed. And I am not getting new RAM just for benchmarking

Hey so I'm a bit confused on what increasing the ram timings will do for me. Would it make a significant difference, also I'm still trying to figure this out but lower is better correct?

okay so i changed the timings to 14,16,16,16,34 which was a pretty big difference from what it was before i also set the frequency to 4.225 Ghz noticeable differences.

Illustrator is single-core heavy and very few operations use multiple cores (tops at 8 cores), so I prefer the 8700k. If that's too expensive, get the 8600k. Locked 8700 and unlocked 2700x comes behind.
