P3 International KILL A WATT EZ almost killed my x399 easy.  O.o

Anyways, the meter had a sustained 1135w (measured at wall  xD) load running through it, but was rated for quite a bit more (15 amps @ 120v = 1800w).  No damage to the Seasonic PSU or any other components.  Dead power meter.

Hmmm, outlet panels also suffer from burn-in like OLED?

That is quite nasty though, I am glad your HW is all right.

@WereCat  Thanks man.   The power meter just acted like a fuse and popped.  :D

Reminds me of the power adapter that had melted while being plugged into your rice cooker (around 700W I think).

Usually we would have just used a BS1363/type G to kettle lead however it was misplaced so we ended up using the type B to kettle lead it came with. Worked for about a month then one day, while I was in the living room, I smelt a burnt plastic but thought nothing of it then the smoke alarm went off and there it was, melted xD.

At least the £300~ (or 45K~ JPY) rice cooker was fine...

Damn! That's unexpected, it's nice that no damage to your expensive hardware occurred.

How did you manage to draw 1150W from an X399 rig though? :P

    @Morgan MLGman

Power draw from the x399 rig might have had something to do with the 2 x 1080 Tis and 2 x 1080s running off of it, but I'm not sure.  xD

    Wow :D I've got one 1080 and it's a lot,

Was that just "for the lulz" or was there a specific purpose that you ran it all at 100% together? Mining, perhaps?

  8. done12many2

    done12many2

Yeah, I'm mining with it.  Power limits on the cards were set low to keep efficiency up hence the lower 1135w draw (CPU, GPUs, + system).   I mine Monero with the CPUs and NeoScrypt with the GPUs.

In all, I'm mining with 5x 1080 Tis, 2x 1080s, 1x 1070, and 1x 1060 spread between the x399, x299 and another rig.  Keeps the house warm during the cool months.  :D

I just sent an email to P3 International letting them know about the issue.   This is the 3rd one I've heard of doing this when a substantial and sustained load it placed on it.  The other 2 belonged to friends of mine.  It will be interesting to see if they own up to it, or begin tap dancing around liability.

Kill A Watt? More like Kill A X399

@PCGuy_5960  x399 is easier to replace than the GPUs right now.  xD

@XenosTech  I'm sure glad that wasn't the case here.

Yeah I'd imagine I'd hear you salting out from here lol
