  1. Good point, didn't fully realize that the MBA is only 13"... Still going to head to a store and see how a 13" screen compares to a 15/16" screen. What do you think about the Lenovo IdeaPad 5 Gen 7? Found a 15.6" version with a Ryzen 7 5825U for 710€ (thanks to student discounts). Seems to be a bit more powerful than the 5600H, although I wonder how that would affect the battery life (again, not aiming to push the device to its performance limits^^).
  2. That's great to hear. The only thing that worries me about the vivobook is the fact that it only has 8 GB RAM and while it appears to be upgradable to 16GB, it is kinda annoying to start off with only 8. Neat idea, though I am unsure about buying 2nd hand (given how some people treat their devices) and the OS. So far, I've been a Windows-only kid, do you reckon switching to MacOS (will continue to use Windows on main PC) is going to take a lot of getting used to? Thanks for your help so far!
  3. Hi there, I'm looking for a somewhat decent laptop that I will mainly use for very basic stuff (surfing, writing, the occasional Photoshop edit). Thinking of 15-16" displays. Good battery life and durability are important to me, I've had too many devices giving up far too soon. Hoping to find something around 800€. I've compiled a list of intersting devices. However, I can't decide and, of course, I've probably missed tons of other alternatives. My favorite at the moment is the Huawei Matebook 16 (Ryzen 5 5600H), which is currently available for 699€ (normal price would be around 899€ afaik). My sister has a similar laptop from Huawei and their build quality was great, although I've heard mixed things about the current gen's battery life. The Asus Vivobook S15 AMD (Ryzen 7 5700U) or Vivobook S15 OLED (i5 1135G7) don't seem to bad either, but I've no experience with Asus and the S15 AMD has quite a low display resolution. Anyway, what do you think of these devices or have I missed some major alternatives? Thanks in advance!
  4. Thanks! I guess I was just a bit thrown off by the fact that it only explicitly mentioned Intel. I'll definitely have a look at the B550 boards once they come out.
  5. Aight, thanks! Would the RAM throttle automatically to 2400Mhz or will I need to adjust that manually? If I actually get the 3700X I'd probably go for a B450 board - don't feel like going for the pricey X570 ones and I've been told that the B450s should do a decent job (not planning on OC or anything)
  6. Hey there! I was looking for some fresh RAM for my system but I'm a bit unsure about compatbility. My current system is a Ryzen 5 1600 on a Gigabyte GA-A320M-S2H. The store in town is offering following RAM. I know that it's overkill for the current system but I'm planning on upgrading in the next months anyway (looking at Ryzen 7 3700x) so I'd hope that I could just carry that over. This is what I know about the RAM: 32 GB DDR4 Dual Channel (16 each) UDIMM, unbuffered, JEDEC: PC4-25600 3200 Mhz; 1,35 V latency: 16 - 19 - 19 ttRCD: 19 tRP: 19 tRAS: 39 XMP 2.0 It also appear to be some kind of no-name brand, dunno if that would play a role or not. So far so good, I assume that the older gen ryzen just wouldn't be able to use that ram to its fullest potential, right? However, there's also a little info text concerning compatibility saying: intel 100, 200, 300 series & most common mainboards (Asus, AsRock, Gigabyte etc). Will this be an issue (both for the older Ryzen and the one I'm planning to get)?
  7. Is there any possible way to determine whether this is a hardware or software issue? Would like to get things back up to speed somehow but I can't even figure out what's causing this to happen.
  8. "Unfortunately", all drivers are up to date, so that's not it either.
  9. No, I don't. Though, I used to have hamachi installed but I removed that a couple of hours ago and that did not change anything.
  10. Hey there, we recently got our internet speed upgraded from 200 to 400 Mbps though my pc has problems reaching the full potential and seems to be limited to 190 Mbps (according to speedtest.net) or 220 Mbps (according to fast.com). Another pc, that I connected with the same ethernet cable, has no such issues and easily reaches the 400 mbps. The upload, however, is unaffected by this; both computers manage to reach the 50 mbps. I just don't know why. The "pc in trouble" uses the rather old i5 4570 with a Gigabyte B85M-D3H motherboard. No VPN active. Already tried updating the network drivers but that didn't change anything. There is also no Windows update. Does anyone have any idea what to do. Starts to be extremely frustrating since everything works fine on the other computer. Best!
  11. Hey guys^^ I'm having some problems with the RGB + PWM control board of my new case. The way I understand this sheet, I have to plug number 6 into the CPU FAN header on the mainboard. But where would the actual CPU Fan go? My first guess was one of the two remaining 3-pin-headers on the PCB but I'm not sure at all... Any ideas? Thanks in advance
  12. I'd love the new Razer Blade 14 for studying and travelling. Can't afford buying one and committing bank robbery seems to be a crime. Strange, huh?
  13. I was able to install windows from my usb stick and could use the old product key I already had. Everything was working fine until I got the message that Windows was not genuine (couple of months later) and then my friend used a patcher to get rid of this.
  14. I got the windows ISO directly from the official microsoft page, so i can assure you that there's nothing wrong with that.
  15. Thanks, going to try the malware removal tool. Will do this too, hopefully this wil do the trick.^^
