  1. I'm planning on using the cougar QBX case, and Polaris sounds like a good idea, because then I can afford the i5 4690k now and by the time Polaris comes out I'll probably be able to afford at least the 480 and in the mean time I'll just use my old 750ti. Thank you!
  2. The goal is mini itx gaming, yes, and I already own the PSU from a previous build, and it is the only 140mm PSU I have atm(the QBX can only house 140mm Max) but will try to look for another one. Any thing else you would change?
  3. Okay so this is my (kind of) first/second build and second post sorry if I do anything wrong. I originally bought a prebuilt and upgraded it but I decided to just ditch the whole thing and salvage two parts from it and do a whole new build. This is the list I put together on PC Part Picker, with what knowledge I have of building a PC (which is some). [PCPartPicker part list](http://pcpartpicker.com/p/z2RCm8) / [Price breakdown by merchant](http://pcpartpicker.com/p/z2RCm8/by_merchant/) Type|Item|Price :----|:----|:---- **CPU** | [Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor](http://pcpartpicker.com/part/intel-cpu-bx80646i54690k) | $223.81 @ B&H **CPU Cooler** | [Cooler Master Hyper TX3 54.8 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler](http://pcpartpicker.com/part/cooler-master-cpu-cooler-rr910htx3g1) | $17.89 @ OutletPC **Motherboard** | [MSI MSI Z97I AC Mini ITX LGA1150 Motherboard](http://pcpartpicker.com/part/msi-motherboard-z97iac) |- **Memory** | [Corsair Dominator 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1866 Memory](http://pcpartpicker.com/part/corsair-memory-cmp16gx3m2x1866c9) | $125.05 @ Amazon **Storage** | [Patriot Pyro 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive](http://pcpartpicker.com/part/patriot-internal-hard-drive-pp120gs25ssdr) | $58.78 @ Amazon **Power Supply** | [Thermaltake TR2 430W ATX Power Supply](http://pcpartpicker.com/part/thermaltake-power-supply-w0070) | $19.99 @ Newegg **Other**| Gtx 1070| $375.00 **Other**| Cougar QBX| $55 | *Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts* | | Total (before mail-in rebates) | $915.52 | Mail-in rebates | -$20.00 | **Total** | **$895.52** | Generated by [PCPartPicker](http://pcpartpicker.com) 2016-05-29 08:46 EDT-0400 | I already own the RAM, SSD, HDD [WD Blue 1 TB just realised its not in the list but I'm too lazy to fix that lol] and PSU (I only paid $30 for the ram I don't know why it's so expensive on PCPP). I ordered the motherboard off Amazon for $109, but can return it if you guys recommend something better. My main questions are about my choice of CPU cooler because I intend to do some over clocking. Will this be enough in an mITX case? Or do I need a liquid cooler? Also, I may have to choose between a GTX 1070 and the i5 4690k for a little while, would you guys recommend getting the 4690k and sucking it up with my 750ti for now and then saving for the 1070, or buying the 1070 and getting like a Pentium g3258 for now and upgrading later? Also, I have Windows 10 on my old prebuilt, do you think it would be possible to move it over? Thanks in advance for the help everyone
  4. Thats crazy for the current bid price! Unfortunately now we're going to bid each other to death for the board lol.
  5. Im looking at getting the Ecs Black X79R-AX DDR3 Intel Motherboard for $130 (USD) at http://www.ascendtech.us/ecs-black-x79r-ax-ddr3-intel-motherboard_i_mbecslga2011382.aspx?agent=froogle# if this board is good enough for you
  6. I still can't find any for less than $200, and while most of those have dual sockets is that really necessary? Also they don't seem to have PCI-E express slots at all
  7. Hey guys so I watched linus's video on build computers using old server parts and really liked the idea. I watched some other videos and heard about the great deals on the intel Xeon e5-2670. I found the processor for around $60 on ebay however I am having a lot of trouble finding an affordable motherboard with the LGA2011 socket (not lga 2011-3 of which there are plenty). The only few I have found are -the MSI X79A-GD45 for $200 from https://www.sierracomponent.com which seems kind of sketchy -the asrock x79 extreme4 looks good but I can only find it for around $1000 -the biostar Tpower looks really good and cheaper than everything else but I cant find it for sale anywhere -the Ecs Black X79R-AX DDR3 Intel Motherboard for $130 from http://www.ascendtech.us/ which seems very promising -and the Intel BOXDX79TO Core-I7 Chipset-X79 Express Socket-LGA 2011 64Gb DDR3 Motherboard for $240 from Ebay which also looks nice. If you guys can find or recommend any x79 2011 socket motherboards compatible with the xeon e5-2670 it would be much appreciated.
  8. So is there a motherboard you would suggest, or could I do something like reusing the board that came with the PC? or is that just me being cheap lol
  9. yeah I'd like to reuse the processor and I'd like to keep it cheap around $400
  10. Hey so I am building my own PC for the first time. I have previously bought a pc from best buy around two years ago, terrible I know, and upgraded it with some parts so I have some experience and knowledge around the subject. I currently have; a Nvidia 750ti, a 600 watt power supply, an AMD Quad-Core A10-6700 processor, and 4 GB of corsair vengeance RAM, and a 1 TB hard drive; that I plan to take out of the old PC and use for the new one. I also have a patriot PYRO 120GB SSD just sitting around that I never actually bought the correct mounting brackets for somehow. I already have a nice keyboard and mouse both using USB, a USB mic, and two monitors, one connected with DVI and one with HDMI. I plan on buying Corsair Carbide Series SPEC-02 Mid Tower Gaming Case (CC-9011051-WW) for $60 on amazon Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB Kit (4GBx2) DDR3 1600 (PC3-12800) 240-Pin UDIMM Memory BLS2KIT4G3D1609DS1S00/BLS2CP4G3D1609DS1S00 for $38 on amazon TP-LINK TL-WDN4800 Dual Band Wireless N900 PCI Express Adapter,2.4GHz 450Mbps/5Ghz 450Mbps, Include Low-profile Bracket, Support Windows XP/Vista/7/8/8.1/10 for $37 on amazon Either an ASUS ATX DDR3 2600 LGA 1150 Motherboards Z97-A/USB 3.1 for $140 amazon or an Asus - M5A99FX PRO R2.0 ATX Motherboard 2133MHz (Socket AM3+/AM3) - Multi for $145 from best buy (I might be stuck with a $180 gift card to best buy depending on whether or not I can find my receipt from these really uncomfortable headphones I bought last week so if there is a better motherboard from best buy let me know) The computer I already have is an Asus M11BB-B07 Desktop A10 X4 3.7GHz 8GB 1TB DVDRW WiFi. I'd just like you guys' inputs on whether these are good choices, make sure they are compatible, if there is anything else I can scrap from my old PC, or anything else you can think of. -Thanks in advance, Aiden
