  1. Here is my original post. I get errors when trying to flash the firmware for my hard drive onto this PCB. Its the same revision of PCB so to me I don't see a problem. Maybe it just isn't possible but I need clarification. How can I flash CC29 onto this PCB with CC44? Is it possible or not? Its whats stopping me from accessing my files.
  2. Well it turns out grandparents PCs PSU doesn't have any GPU connectors so it will be going in my 2nd PC. Getting a 560ti for $50 so i'm happy.
  3. I don't plan on buying new. I know its not much money, but it doesn't have to be very beefy either.
  4. Like I said if anyone has a wild suggestion i'm open to it. I can spend a little more but the goal is to just make it playable.
  5. Yes but its only used for very light gaming and browsing the web. Not only that but I just upgraded the cpu to the core 2 duo from a freaking celeron a few months ago. The computer was and is a potato, but for what my grandparents use it for its enough. I was just looking for a cheap or old card that will give it a bit of a graphics boost. It doesn't need to run Battlefield 1 on medium, just a few random games here and there that probably won't have that great graphics to begin with. Alot of the games he plays are as old as the parts in the PC, but for some newer ones it struggles.
  6. I probably won't use it myself as I have a 980ti in my main pc, but my Pop plays a few games like some EA golf game (don't know the name) and a few random indie games and the computer can barley run it. This PC doesn't have dedicated graphics, only its core 2 duo. My Pop wants to play a few other more modern games but the pc cant even get close to running it. Even with a cheap card at his resolution he should be able to atleast run low on a low end card.
  7. I plan on it being 2nd hand, not new. But it doesn't need to be beefy. At this point I don't even know what wattage the psu is, or if it even has the power cables for a graphics card, i plan to go over and check tomorrow. right now i'm just looking at whats available
  8. Im looking at buying a cheap GPU for my 2nd PC or my grandparents PC. Its only going to be for very light gaming and running at low settings. Their monitor is 1366 x 768. I want to spend about $50 AUD (NOT USD, Please note this) The only card I really know is the GT 640, i don't know low end cards so that's why I need help. Both my 2nd PC and grandparents have the last get Core 2 Duo (E8xxx). It will go in either pc depending on other things. Any recommendations are much appreciated.
  9. Also quick question. I have never done this before. I plan to backup my important files obviously, but is it safe to continue using both my drives normally or should I buy new ones.?
  10. Thanks! They even had firmware request as a option. Thank you .
  11. Do you know if there is a email I can contact them at? I can't seem to find anything just phone numbers
  12. PSU was a eVGA SuperNova 650G. Maybe it was my fault, as i tried to be lazy and used my old PSUs cables (which to me i thought it would be fine, i don't see otherwise, HDDs still use the same power no matter the PSU) or because I plugged them into the PATA power ports instead of SATA, this was my first modular PSU so i didn't know this, old PSU PATA and SATA were on the same ports.
  13. So my new PSU killed 3 drives, 2 seagate (One 2TB and one 3TB) and a toshiba 2.5". Both the seagate drives havet he same revision of PCB which I thought that it would be the PCBs that are dead because its impossible to have 3 drives have a mechanical failure at the same exact time, and they weren't powering at all. So I bought a new PCB and put it in and finally the drive comes back to life. You can read about what originally happened on my old post here: http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-3057068/detect-hdds-ssd-optical-drive-msi-z77a-g45.html Anyway now the drive is running and detected in windows but the firmware that is on it is for the 1tb model (Model: ST1000DM003, Serial: S1DBG83N, Firmware: CC44) Now my understanding is that the firmware can just be updated for the 2tb model (image here: note the different serial and FW etc.) The stock firmware for my drives dead PCB was CC27 and upon looking up the serial on Seagates download search tool it comes up with CC29 which is my guess to be a newer version of CC27. I download the file and inside the .zip is some linux related folder, a firmware folder that is EMPTY, and a bootable iso folder, which has a ISO and a .exe to install said iso onto a usb. I did this and it boots into the USB fine, but comes up with FAIL when i try to flash it? I have never done this before so maybe i'm wrong and I can only use a 2TB PCB (I didn't know this PCB was for a 1TB hdd, i just bought one that had the same revision.) So am I doing something wrong or is it not possible to install the 2TB FW over the 1TB FW. Sorry if my explaining is confusing. Thanks in advance. Photo of the iso failing to install or what ever.
  14. People always say how good mechanical keyboards are, yet i've never used one. Maybe this will be my chance!
