Yes. just make sure you are on an updated bios and you enable the relevant settings in the bios and radeon settings.

Thankyou! Finally.. I have been asking this on so many forums and not a single person that could tell me if this was normal or not. Sorry, just a bit of a vent.
Anywas, yes, the clocks are fine. Thanks for the explenation!

Lemtea got a reaction from ErykYT3 in Will my GTX 1070 work with free sync and HDR10?
it should work as a 'G-sync compatible' monitor but you will need to enable the toggle in the control panel if it's not Nvidia certified. Also that monitor really shouldn't be used for HDR as it doesn't get bright enough for a decent experience.

Lemtea got a reaction from tealflip in BIOS Flashing on the TOMAHAWK MAX II B450 board.
Bios flashing is generally quite a safe procedure as long as the flash progress isn't interrupted (power outage etc.). Here is a link to the MSI guide for bios flashing.

While you can use the bios flashback feature I would suggest a standard flash as you already have a cpu installed. Make sure before you update that the new bios still supports your current cpu properly (it is common for some of the amd boards to drop support for older cpus on newer bios versions).

Also if you have a smaller capacity usb drive (8 or 16gb), I would suggest using that (formatted as FAT32) . In some circumstances larger capacity drives can have detection issues (won't hurt anything, just fails to show up in bios flash or read).

Im on my phone, i decided to go a slower approach with M-FLASH, so i selected the file instead of it doing so on its own. I can only trust computers to a certain extent. Thank you so much again, both of you for clearing a lot of my fear.

edit: Back on the pc, bios flashback went by fine, again thank you guys for your help.

Lemtea got a reaction from Leaffy in B460M Will 1st PCIE x16 operate at x8 ?
Usually slots that share bandwidth are listed in the specs. So I would say that both slots should run at full bandwidth considering that the x4 slot is connected via the chipset.

PCIE lane assignment comes down to the motherboard manufacturer, thus it varies across models (even within the same chipset) so the best place to look is the user manual.

Sounds like the power button itself could be faulty.

Try turning the PC on by shorting the power button pins on the motherboard with a screwdriver. If this works properly you have a faulty power button.

Ok, thanks @Lemtea. I'll make sure that at the very least Windows is installed on the ssd and then I'll worry about what else I should pack in it.

it doesn't sound like OCP is kicking in, as that would usually cut power straight away. Try running stress tests on both the gpu and cpu simultaneously (e.g. prime 95 & furmark) to see if it occurs outside of cyberpunk.

Bottleneck calculator, just no. Single thread performance is king for gaming as titles slowly begin to use more than four threads. Keep in mind cpu bottlenecks only really happen in high fps scenarios so in most cases it isn't noticable.

In benchmarks yes, in the real world it will be so marginal you'll barely notice the difference, if at all.

There is nothing wrong with your cpu. The 65W TDP (thermal design power) does not indicate how much power the cpu will actually use, rather its a rating used to determine cooling requirements. The actual cpu power usage is dependent on many factors such as silicon quality, workload, boost state etc. Also note that AMD and Intel rate TDP differently so they really cant be compared.

Lemtea reacted to ReganCACS in Are UPS worth the risk?
To be honest its not just the reviews, I have worked as a developer for 14 years, and info sec for the past 2 year. I can't count the number of times I have heard UPS units blamed for everything from a single corrupt file (literally just happened today), to bad hard drives, to total system failure.

That being said, every PC I have had die, that was not a laptop, I have traced the failure back to the PSU/Power in some way so maybe AC power is just the culprit and our PSU and UPS units are just trying to keep everything stable as best their engineering allows🤔. I think I will probably get the APC UPS BR1500MS next pay day its only 100 more and will give me a lot more breathing room watt wise.

    Thanks for your input folks.

I will be doing that as well, but in a few months. Hopefully with no more A/C in a few weeks, and the UPS I will be fine until I can get the electrician in. I think that will be a lot more then $300 though...

Lemtea got a reaction from Dutch_Master in Are UPS worth the risk?
Honestly I would spend the extra to get a quality unit with good support and warranty considering that valuable electronics would be running off it, I would be more concerned why the lights dim when the AC turns on.

Lemtea got a reaction from Metallus97 in Question about how PCIE lanes work
You will need to consult your motherboard manual to find out how pcie lanes are assigned, keep in mind the chipset also can provide additional lanes. But realistically adding another m.2 drive will have negligible impact on you 2080ti as gpus rarely saturate a x8 pcie gen 3 connection yet alone a x16 connection.

Not really, as long as your case hides the cables exiting the power supply there is no real need for a full cable set unless you really care about how the backside of the PC looks or want custom length cables.

from my understanding people who use autodesk, especially on bigger projects as this can be devistating on a pc (someone inside ltt {i forgot who it was} apparently has a excel file that wont open on any pc with less than 64gb ram, so then you change that to a 3d modeled item that could include 1000+ seperate parts, all with their individual extrusions and sketches)
I know the computers we had at school all had i7 processors and would start chugging when you hit about 7 or 8 parts inside an assembly (this was a few years ago)
    for example
