Ninjanometry got a reaction from An0maly_76 in How do I get this display to run at 1920x720 (native resolution)?
I doubt that aspect ratio is a deciding factor for compatibility. The EDID just tells the OS what to do and it does it. There seems to be support for the resolution in the Raspberry Pi world.

Ninjanometry reacted to TurtleTrain in What to blur out in videos
Hey,
One reason which may be less likely however possible is for someone to look up the part in order to get it from the same place, it may be that someone has censored this in order to not promote a store. If you are removing the labels such as those with your personal information on, you may as well remove these as it gives a better aesthetic, will prevent problems if there are any, and could help with recording as if they are removed I would assume it will help the camera as it will not zoom in and focus on them if you have it auto focusing.
Hope this helps,
TT

You'll probably need to register with Microsoft as an OEM manufacturer and get custom OEM keys for your brand so the system information knows to display your brand/company/logo by default.

Ninjanometry reacted to asand1 in AMD only DDR2???
"AMD only" is high density RAM that only works with some AMD Chips. I bought some DDR3 "AMD only" RAM hoping It would work with my FX 4300, and only two sticks of it will work at a time. None of them will run with my Xeon or an i7-2600.

nobody wants ram just for amd, mostly for 775 socket mobos.
I think there is something with the memory controller? probably wrong on that

get ready for a gloriously bottlenecked ride. (as GHG would say). I'd at least try for a core 2 quard, if not early i7s

Ninjanometry reacted to SLAYR in Which CPU for older gaming rig
You would better off selling the 690, and getting a better cpu, and slightly worse gpu, with SLI disabled it is slightly better then a gtx 960.
http://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GTX-680-vs-Nvidia-GTX-960/3148vs3165
You would get the same performance if you paired one of those cpus with a gt 730, the bottleneck is that big.

I would go with the core 2 duo, has a slightly higher single thread and overall rates about 2x as good.

i personally would say the pentium. because of higher speeds overall

Ninjanometry reacted to typographie in Asus GTX 1070 STRIX OC Edition SUCKS at surround!?
I didn't say anything about multiple 1070's. One GTX 1070 is still faster than a GTX 690, even if the 690 had miraculously perfect SLI scaling. By a long shot.

Ninjanometry reacted to fairbaisa in Asus GTX 1070 STRIX OC Edition SUCKS at surround!?
I had the same problem with my Strix 1070, I only got 25-40 fps with rise of tomb raider 1080p
the problem was the newest driver 368.81, after i downgrade to 368.39 i got 100+
hope this helps

Ninjanometry got a reaction from mrchow19910319 in ASUS GTX 1080 Strix
The Amazon link in the description on YouTube even shows both products, but the fact that there are 2 versions of this card is mentioned nowhere in the video review.
-
Ninjanometry reacted to DrTaru in ASUS GTX 1080 Strix
Luke, you clearly got the STRIX OC card which is more expensive, the default STRIX has an OC mode of 1772 listed in GPU tweak and I was able to crank that way up +200
Memory also hums along nicely with a +1300 boost at 120% power target.

Ninjanometry reacted to petem in PS3 to PC account move?
Just as an homage to the PS3 crowd ... (from the stanford FAH pages):
Folding on the Sony Playstation 3 (PS3)
The PS3 is a powerful system for scientific calculation. In 2007, it was more powerful than CPUs, but less powerful than GPUs, and took a middle path between scientific flexibility and speed. Other benefits are the uniformity of PS3s (all have the same processor, GPU, RAM, etc) and the ability to stream data quickly to the GPU, allowing for real time visualization of the protein. Since it’s induction, over 15 million PS3 users have participated in FAH, in total donating more than 100 million computational hours.
The PS3 system was a game changer for Folding@home, as it opened the door for new methods and new processors, eventually also leading to the use of GPUs. We have had numerous successes in recent years. Specifically, in a paper just published in the Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, we report on tests of predictions from earlier Folding@home simulations, and how these predictions have led to a new strategy to fight Alzheimer’s disease. The next steps, now underway at Stanford, are to take this lead compound and help push it towards a viable drug. It’s too early to report on our preliminary results there, but we’re very excited that the directions set out in this paper do appear to be bearing fruit in terms of a viable drug (not just a drug candidate).
Following discussions with Sony, we retired the PS3 client on November 6, 2012. Please see the PS3 FAQ for more information about the PS3 client.

Way to go PS3 peeps!

Ninjanometry reacted to tobben in PS3 to PC account move?
Well, if you setup a passkey (not sure if they
were even a thing in the ps3 days)
You can retrieve it by going here, granted you
remember the name and email you used.
http://fah-web.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/getpasskey.py
If you have forgotten the name and everything,
the client isn't on the ps3 anymore, then i am
honestly not quite sure as to how you would
find it.. if you have no idea what it could have
been.
If you have a passkey, and remember the email
you used. You should be able to dig it up with
the right keywords, the email with the passkey
will also contain your username.
Chances are this is where it was sent from
server@fah-web2.stanford.edu

As for finding the credentials on the ps3 which
apparently doesn't have the client anymore,
sorry but i have no clue . Never used a ps3
and definitely didn't fold on one.
You might have some luck by asking over here
though: https://foldingforum.org/
They have some experienced people over
there.

BTW, I'll also be getting a Titan.

Ninjanometry reacted to xentropa in Dual GPU cards, PCIe lanes, and SLI configs
Mobo doesnt have to have the exact number of lanes. Just equal or more. Two titans using 32 lanes on a cpu plus board that supports 40 will just leave 8 unused.

How kind of you. Probably found a nice warm component to cozy up next to. Maybe it fell in love with an SOIC on the controller PCB.
