    No kidding,

Half the reason I avoided RGB nonsense was because to mix and match RGB junk (eg ASUS, Logitech and Corsair) involved installing these web-driven "please login to your account" to use garbage.
Like Razer was extremely annoying about it. Asus not so much.

But I would rather not have to install a dozen CEF-driven apps all because these manufactures want telemetry tracking BS

People bought GPUs in droves during the pandemic. We saw this with the sales numbers these companies were quoting - Nvidia's sales figures throughout the pandemic were really good.

These GPUs don't need replacing yet. So people aren't.

I wonder how many read the articles regarding this, vs just jumping to conclusions based on their preconceived notion about the situation.

People are spending less time at home so as a result, fewer people are buying gaming stuff.
With ever increasing inflation and many people having unsure financial futures, people are less likely to spend money on frivolous things like gaming.
This is happening across the industry, not just Nvidia and their gaming graphics cards.
A large amount of people bought computers at the start and during the pandemic. As a result, the sales are no longer as spread out.

There are several other factors at play as well, and this is not something that is exclusive to the GPU market.
It's very rare for such a big change to the market to be caused by a single thing. It's a very complex system with lots of different variables.

AM5 so far only has zen5 confirmed and zen6 speculated.
Its three full generations at most, two at minimum. if you have zen3, you can wait for zen7.
Platform changes cost a lot of money for the amount of performance gain you get.

As far as the processors cant keep up? That's Kinda bullshit. there are edge cases of a bind happening at 1440p. but there are NONE at 4k, and turn on reflex and you debind the CPU a tad anyways.
When you talk about CPU bottleneck, it just means the GPU cant run full speed ALL the time. the fact is you will still get better frame rates getting an even more powerful GPU then the 4090 at 1080, 1440, and 4k.
Especially when future games will still crank up the GPU requirements harder and faster then the CPU ones because GPUs go up 1.5-2x per gen, rather then a CPUs 10-20%.

A AAA game 5 years from now will disproportionally require MORE gpu grunt then today vs  the additional cpu grunt it will ask for.

A bottleneck is only ever as large as the proportional time a GPU has to wait for a CPU to make a draw call.

Think of it this way instead.
Your GPU keeps bottlenecking your CPU, the CPU is doing nothing and is waiting for a draw call to come from the GPU, the 4090 is the first time we see that the GPU is not ALWAYS bottlenecking the CPU.

There is no hard and fast "positive pressure is best"

Even LTT did a video on it, and the results were very inconclusive.  It mostly depends on the case what fan setup works best.

And regardless, positive, or negative, pressure you'll still end up with dust in your case.  it's gonna happen.

Then please, enlighten me, what is the use case of your PC and your phone? What about it makes them fundamentally different that the software distribution model has a tangible impact?

Their own analytics for a start: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GOG.com#Market_share
CDPR's games (which belong to the same company as GOG) make up a significant number of purchases on that platform. And they do it while being present on Steam at the same time without any undercutting in price relative to Steam. They're not giving themselves preferential treatment, even though they literally earn 30% less on Steam than on GOG. And I'm sorry, but just because you follow certain people who don't talk about GOG much doesn't mean they don't exist or don't make money. They did take a hit recently and are refocusing their business model, but they're still a major player in this space. Not knowing about them at this point says more about you and the people you follow than them.

And hey, you mentioned Epic struggling. Care to give me some numbers, or is this just you once again asking your friends how many have bought games on there and coming up with none and assuming that means nobody ever buys any games there?

This might open the door for closed tech ecosystem regulations considering they been pulling apps over money that many have had access to

I think we just suddenly jumped into a big diminishing returns.

You need RTX 4090 at 1080p/1440p to expose CPU overhead this marginal... at the same time there are very few people with 4090 that will play at 1080p and at 4k the CPU basically doesn't matter (newish one).

So there's just a kind of a hole at 1440p where all of this can make sense depending on what you play.

pas008 reacted to MageTank in Intel claims Core i9-13900K will be 11% faster on average than AMD Ryzen 9 7950X in gaming
I think we reached a point in general where the CPU isn't going to matter unless you are trying to push 1080p at 500Hz on that new ASUS panel and don't want to be bottlenecked by the CPU feeding that frame data, lol.

For most people, the compromise is going to be a nice resolution and a nice refresh rate. 1440p 165 or 4k 120 is going to be fine even on mid-range processors. I'd even go as far to say that most previous generation processors from the past 2-3 years will be fine at those resolutions. Even now, we are reaching a point where display technology is starting to bottleneck the power offered by GPU's, and these halo tier cards are going to be pointless unless new technologies (akin to raytracing) come out and magically start to tax our hardware again.

Odd to see people splitting hairs over which CPU is faster when both are beyond what 99% of people are going to need.
