Money got a reaction from BiG StroOnZ in Stealth Build w. Controversial Parts
Hey guys,
I put together my new build the other day and I took some pictures. Here's the story:
I started out with a VERY dusty build (Yeah I neglected it, temps were still super low though so whatever).
After cleaning out the case I was left with this, a bone stock Corsair 550D that I had purchased from an NCIX Warehouse sale many years ago.
Here's the new parts I'd be putting in
I know that the 9900KS and 2080 Super are both controversial since they're mediocre entries into their respective segments, but, objectively they are outstanding for 1440p 144hz gaming and that's basically all I do besides the other everyday computing stuff.
I had decided to reuse my NH-D14 from 2012 and updated the fans on it so that they were both 4-pin. Reattaching the clips to the new fans was super difficult and took a ton of force to work, but it ended up working out.
I'm certainly no cable management wizard, but here's what I managed to do with all the parts in. I ended up having to plug another PCI power cable in since just having the one split into an 8-pin and 6-pin was not supplying my card with enough power and was diminishing performance.
Here's how it look with the case all closed up and how my setup looks. Temps are pretty good. The CPU runs at about 70-80 degrees during gaming and the 2080S runs at about 65 degrees. I've never owned a computer that runs as silent as this one does at idle, it's astonishing.
Here's the full list of parts in this build.
Thanks for reading!

I really have no idea what BCLK means... Hahah, base clock? If that's what it means then Im not sure.

Money got a reaction from Kuzma in 5GHz Overclock Club
Im using a Noctua NH-D14. I was able to upvolt to 1.4v and I still couldn't go higher than 4.2GHz. It was VERY unstable. Im currently just using OC Genie on my GD45

Money got a reaction from NewKID in Is Factory OC Worth It?
If it $5 more then go for it. No harm in upping performance.

Money got a reaction from TechFan@ic in Who Won This Year: NVIDIA or AMD?
What do you guys think? I think AMD won because of how well the 7970 out performs the NVIDIA counterpart.

Money got a reaction from Dragon_Cannon in New build, questions about motherboard and CPU. AMD or Intel?
If it's going to be a workstation, go with 2011 or an 8 core AMD processor.
-
Money got a reaction from Dragon_Cannon in What would you like to have in the GTX7** Series?
I want to see a 790 that beats a 690 by a good margin. I always enjoy extreme cards.
-
Money got a reaction from Dragon_Cannon in How to get a large ssd raid 0 going without a raid card
Firstly, RAID 0 with SSD's isn't always the best idea.
-
Money got a reaction from Dragon_Cannon in 80 PLUS Gold vs 80 PLUS Platinum
We're back to the problem of efficiency not always reflecting good quality.
