  1. Depending on the device and how it is done I don't really mind it. However if it makes the performance/durability worse then I'd usually skip it/rather not have it.
  2. For me it started out with me getting old computers from people we knew which I'd smash apart (sorta wastefull ik but at the time I found it really fun). After a couple years one of my friends also had some decent IT knowledge which helped me get even more interested into IT. After that I just sorta went my own way with learning stuff myself and following a couple educations.
  3. Don't really build from scratch much. Have been upgrading here and there the last couple years however currently saving up for a upgrade that I hope will last me around 5 years excluding GPU upgrades
  4. Same. Current plans are either a AMD Ryzen 9 3900X or a AMD Ryzen 7 3700X with 32GB ram, M.2 SSD (most likely NVME) and a mid/high range mobo. But depending on how much time it's gonna take me to get the money I might only upgrade when the next platform rolls around.
  5. For me it mainly depends on: Money and goals/purposes I use the system for. Normally most of the time it's just a part by part upgrade however I am currently planning a big upgrade that I hope will last me a while
  6. My last workplace was a small IT support company. Most of our systems ranged from Core 2 duos to Core i5s. Our standard desktops (mainly used by first-line support and the administration department) had i3s 4gb ram and 500GB HDDs. But the systems used for second-line support mainly had random custom core 2 duo systems. I believe the system I used more for the second-line had: core 2 duo 4gb and some low-end GeForce card while the system I used at the repair department had Athlon x2 6GB ram onboard Nvidia chip and a dedicated 7 series Nvidia GPU and a couple TB of storage.
  7. So I had the most random issue today/yesterday. Am using Visual Studio for all my C# applications and sadly for one .Net Core project I use VS to compile it (tried using the command-line to just compile the whole thing to an executable format but I had some issues and I really need to try again at some point). Anyway, I logged into my server to see the entire UI of Visual Studio (besides the resource and debug tabs) be gone. Turns out in the end that somehow the GPU driver caused the issue (which somewhat sucks since the AMD 5350 doesn't officially support Windows server so if the workaround doesn't work it means I'm pretty much unable to run any proper drivers for it). Also had a weird issue with EJS today where it wouldn't allow me to load CSS files using the <link> tag on my EJS files (for loading in CSS files) even when the pointing it towards the directory in which the static files are located. I'll probably just have another go at it tomorrow.
  8. I used to be a mess but I've been trying to get stuff organized properly as of late. On my server, as an example, I just have a software folder on my desktop and some text files (sometimes) for stuff I still need to do. On my main PC, it's still not the best but my overall file structure is quite organized
  9. This tbh miss the good ol days where the more IO = pretty much better. Wouldn't even mind it if they become somewhat heavier. Honestly surprises me how many people I hear complaining about laptop weight at the moment.
