I feel like a lot of the immersion things you bring up can can also be said about GTA5 but no one gives a shit about that cause its a video game. Im sure that is the explanation when using those arguments against GTA5. If anything GTA5 breaks those immersion things 10 fold because of being able to carry 9999 bullets and 3 LMG's. Again, no one really argues about the immersion there. I mean sure the argument can be said that this game is targeting immersiveness, but if a game doesn't target immersion in some fashion they are doing it wrong.

Yeah hacking could be better, design wise i can see why they chose it. The only other ways i could see hacking working would be something like heavy rain where it is multiple inputs and you have to time it just right or what they currently have which is like that waterflow/pipe minigame. Heavy rain style can get annoying fast especially in segments when timing is fairly crucial and using the water pipes-ish style will definitely get old very fast. I guess the other way would be like fall out 3 style, but that is just waaaaaayyy too slow for the amount of hacking you do in this game. If they opted for that, i would immediately stop playing because that shit gets old really fast.

Enemy AI sounds off. I personally never had a problem hiding from them and they never fully found my spot. I mainly use the silenced pistol, but even when i use IED's they dont seem to find me when im hiding. I do notice that sometimes they do funnel towards a specific area or somethings to me, BUT at the same time it is almost like a hall way. In a hallway, if you see two people dead on the floor (ignoring snipers for simplicity) that is probably the direction the killer is, so logically it makes sense to go down that way to hunt the person.

Weapon stuff i agree with you, but honestly do you use every weapon? Like i said earlier i only really use the silenced pistol. I'm sure you just use best in slot, so it doesnt really matter. I get the argument though. Maybe go to a hideout to switch loadouts. My only complaint is not having enough silenced weapons, but as a design choice it makes sense. The silenced weapon mechanics are pretty legit.

Cover system is pretty good from what i played which is about 9-10 hours at this point. It isnt the best, but it isnt the worst thing in the world. It would be nice to have an auto cover system like Kane and Lynch where pressing against something puts you in auto cover. My only issue is getting out of the cover. Why do i have to press a button to get out and not just move out of cover.

Aside from the spidey sense Aiden seems to have, i have encountered random crimes on the street that were not part of the side mission things.

I don't want to offend you, but from what you said, i can't imagine that there is any game you enjoy outside of simulator-esque games. I mean, you are kind of asking for a pretty good chunk of realism. For an open world game, that level of realism just isnt fun.

My personal experience (10+ hours): This game is pretty fun. It isnt GOTY fun, but it is pretty friggin fun. I just like the hacking mechanic which is pretty unique at least their version of it.

Im really enjoying the game  its not perfect but its a lot of fun. The things that bugged me aside from the optimization issues were the driving mechanics(which have since grown on me) and many of the cars sound files seem like they were pulled out of a Sega Master System game so i stick to the same 1-2 cars or a motorbike so it doesn't annoy me lol

Hey Linus, are you using a different microphone setup for this video? I hear a buzz noise or something (not sure how to explain it) every now and then in the video. Could be that my speakers finally need to be replaced or im going crazy.

Otherwise great video on it. Maybe they were listing better than ideal conditions on their websites? Even then why is there a metric ton of inconsistencies.

Go and watch Angry Joe's review of Guild Wars 2 on YouTube (cant link the vid cause YouTube is blocked in the office). The video made me fell in love with the game and been playing for a year now (just got my character's 1st birthday gift). I'm also almost at the end of completing my legendary weapon crafting. Feeling very excited and I don't care that it took me over a year to get it done.

As for the community, it is very very big. Try to search online for guilds and get to know them before buying the game (as what I did). Then, you will enjoy even more while playing the game with people you are comfortable with.

sure, every soundcard, external dac or any device you plug headphones into, has what is called an output impedance.  It is like a resistance that is part of the amplifier that drives the headphones.  When it is high compared to the headphone impedance the amp has trouble controlling the headphones, mainly at the resonant frequency of the headphone and the top end of the frequency range.  It's effect is not as big as the sound signature of the headphones however it does contribute to an audible change in the frequency response.

The rule of thumb to avoid it is that the amps should be 1/8th the impedance of the headphones you are driving.  Which is one of the reasons your dt990 @250 ohm sound bassier than the pros @64ohm.

Here is a more detail explanation (with math) of how it works.

I did the same as you but a few years ago, the soundcard still has better audio quality than onboard imo, with the hardware I'm running.
At the end of the day, all you can truly trust is your own ears =)  No matter what anyone else says. And since you already got to try the difference  in sound qulaity before buying, then it's a no brainer

Dude i just read through that thread and i am really sorry those people just attacked you. You got a Xonar DG, its a good card for the price, and you're happy because it does what you wanted it to do. Good on you man. Hell it would've been the card i wouldve bought if i didnt get a hook up on a Creative ZxR.

To the people that said it has no difference, have you tried plugging in something like a DT 990 Pro 250/600 Ohm into an on board vs a sound Card, the difference is day and night. I plug those headphones into my phone or the Recon 3D USB sound card and i have to crank it up to get decent volume, but then the quality of the sound isnt even that great vs plugging it into my ZxR. I think most of them get a $50 headphone and pair it with a $200+ sound card. To actaully notice a difference, both ends have to be good. Pairing a $30 headphone with a $200+ soundcard is as useless as getting a $1500 headphone with 250/600 ohm impedance and plugging that into your phone.

On a side note im glad you got a Xonar DG. If you decide to get higher impedance headphones (like the AKG Q701/K701 or to some extent the same Beyerdynamics im running) you would have no issue with volume with that sound card

In your opinion whats makes the UI shitty? I think the one main thing i dislike is having the volume and brightness settings taking up space in the notifications bar. Other than that, the UI seems very quick and customizable to the point where im reconsidering getting Cyanogen right away. It actually seems much more "stock" in comparison to Samsung.

Well if you read what i put, i swapped out the Galaxy S2 Skyrocket for the Lumia 920. The Nexus 7 is a tablet haha. I swapped it out because i wanted a different OS and at the time Android wasn't really at the level where i wanted to continually use it because of how sluggish the OS acted where as WP8 was smooth out of the box and it is smooth till this day. Before you say something about getting a Nexus Device, i would have IF they allowed ATT to do contract on them, but since they didnt i couldnt because like other families, we cant just drop all that money in one go, at least for a phone.

Also the "No proper YouTube app" That is not inherently Microsofts Fault and Linus covered this in one of their WAN shows. They tried to reason to Google about the app but Google was not really responding, so Microsoft went ahead and made their own app which was actually very very nice, but it had zero ads and you could download any video you want which google didnt like. I would argue it is pretty much on par as Android/iOS in terms of experience. However, Google pretty much pulled it down saying it doesnt meet any of their standards which is understandable, but Google then requested that Microsoft make an app that was HTML5 compatible where Google's own employees said it is practically impossible. So do not blame Microsoft for doing thing, blame Google for being an ass hat about letting WP8 have a YouTube app.

I'll just answer both of your replies here. How exactly does hangout work? Do i have to connect my Phone number to my G+ account to use it or is it kind of like a seperate messaging app where i dont really have to connect/link anything together? Is there any delay in receiving messages or is it pretty much instant?

Man if i had the time i would read your review, but i dont really have that much time right now being Christmas and we're planning on going out of town for a couple of days. Would you recommend installing it right when i get my phone or would you suggest doing a 30 day thing with the current UI then swap it out if i deemed it needed. Just curious because i know some people would just say to install Cyanogen without playing with the phone that much as if it was the number one thing needed.

    General Question:
Is there an app where i can block permissions to an app? I remember my dad showing me an app like that but i dont know if it exists cause my memory is kinda iffy on it.

They may not be the best of the best in build quality, but they aren't bad either. Where did you hear that the HD 280's have worse isolation? I've been reading around and people's go to recommendation for passive isolation (at least for over ear) is the HD 280 NOT the SRH440. When you say quicker are you talking about the literal definition of quicker? As in the Shures get ~21 Years before replacement and the Senns get 20.0999999999 Years? Thats within margin of error. If you're talking like the difference between 5 and 10 years, im going to be needing sources for that. I haven't really heard of headphones from these brands and are in the same price bracket having a drastic difference in wear down UNLESS the end user is very very rough with the equipment and then at that point, it is even useless for comparison. If your headphone pads wear down considerably faster than any other ones in the same price bracket, you may want to consider treating them more carefully. \End Rant

I know that the 290 has the maximum temp of 95 and the 780 is 70. I'm curious on how much the performance would drop if you set the 290 to 70 and how much of a performance jump the 780 would get by setting the maximum temp to 95. I do like the performance numbers of the 290, but im a little skeptical as i assume its that good only because of the higher upper limit in temps.

Are there any benchmarks where they clock the 290/290X at 70 C or the 780 at 95 C? It would be interesting to see if the 290 can get the same performance as the 780 at that temp or at least very close to it, so it would still be a very good buy even if you lower temps that low. I know its not scalar (the performance vs temp), but it would be nice to know.

I've had by 990 Pro 250 Ohm version since june and i dont regret it. Sounds great for gaming and music, they're pretty damn comfortable, and they breathe fairly nicely too so you wont get too uncomfortable with them. From what i'm told all the parts are replaceable and they have a very good warranty on them. Beyerdynamic does have a 32 Ohm version, but that one is substantially more pricier than the 250 Ohm.

Linus did a video about the Fiio E10 and i've read over at Head-Fi that it is a good amp for the price and people do recommend it. Its around $75 USD right now, so its not exactly that cheap, but it is high regarded from my understanding. I personally drive them with my ZxR sound card.
