Pacioli got a reaction from Tairetsu in If Steam didn't exist, would you still be a PC gamer?
I was a PC gamer before Steam.  Used to have a lovely shelf of boxes back in the 90s.  Almost miss them in a way.

Only damn problem was it was hard for the little man to get established.  Also hard as hell to know what was on the market.  Steam has made it easier, but Steam is not what made PC gaming.

Intel Pentium MMX and if I recall correctly it was 200 MHz.  Man it was such a beast at the time.

Want to thank the people that tossed advice.

The Mayflower O2+ODAC is a pretty great amp.  I really love the build quality and it really puts out some good juice.  I ended up going for the DT990's 250ohm.  I have to say the mids are freaking amazing in those things.

The guys I am going to work for are going to get me some professional headphones for doing the work.  So when I get with them I will figure out the budget there and then might be asking some more questions.

    Thanks again!

I know a guy that bought either an AMD processor or an Intel processor (cannot remember which) and tried to use it in his older apposing type board.  He thought removing a few pins to make it fit was acceptable.  I fake helped him trouble shoot for 20 or so minutes knowing that shit was doomed but didn't have the guts to tell him.  He was a real hot head and was already in a fit of rage trying to figure it out.

I went with the 4770k when it was the flagship.  Pretty much the first one I was able to get my hands on when they first came out.

Apple and Mac have their place.  Photo editting, video edittings, and working on sound editting feels amazingly crisp on Apple products.  Hell you wouldn't find me editting stuff at work with anything else unless I don't have the choice.  Don't get me wrong some of this is bias because one, it is what I learned on and two, it is kind of part of the studio culture I am surrounded in.

Is it in high level enthusist gaming?  No.  Would I ever have one in my house?  Not likely.  Unless of course I went indepentant with my work which isn't going to happen because well.. I like just being the man behind the man sort of deal and not the man.  Plus half of what I love about PC's is getting to build them from the ground up. Modding them up hardcore.  Upgrading and playing around.  Always will be my personal choice.  Not to mention bang for the buck is hard to argue.

I should also add that I have a little bit of a problem with things that are very 'cult' feel in the following.  I have heard people talking about Steve as a Jesus.  Not to mention a major hipster culture that surronds it now a days.  But to be far that not their problem.

Man I loved that computer.  It was the first time my dad helped me build a personal system instead of getting his hand me down system when he went new.  The price was sitting with him and learning how to do it.  Great lesson for the future and great freaking computer at the time back in 1997.
