  1. Hi, Can I find out from a mac address if the device is a laptop or a pc? , just from the mac address.
  2. I`m interested in buy a tv that can do the following at best as possible -Connect over LAN to my NAS and play movies from there -Plex -Support for HDR, DoVi, Atmos , HEVC , DTS, big remux files , (wall mount if possible) -65` My options in my country are: LG OLED65C31LA C3 evo at 1510$ SONY BRAVIA XR 65A80L at 1940$ SONY BRAVIA XR 65A80K at 1724$
  3. I`ve build a computer for my brother about a week a go. After 5-6 days of working perfectly while he was playing league of legends the computer turned off and it doesn`t post since then. I also stress tested his pc for 10mins after i`ve build it Specs: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X GIGABYTE B550 AORUS ELITE AX V2 Corsair Vengeance LPX Black 16GB DDR4 3200MHz CL16 Dual Channel Kit Palit GeForce RTX 3060 Ti Dual LHR 8GB GDDR6 256-bit SSD Kingston KC3000 1TB PCI Express 4.0 be quiet! Pure Power 12 M, 80+ Gold, 650W Symptoms: Now when I turn the computer ON all fans are spinning (gpu lights don`t turn on) and nothing shows on the screen. What i`ve tried so far: -Moved the gpu to another computer and it works perfectly -Disconnected all fans, peripherals, and everything that was not needed to post the computer and still nothing. -Reseated all the component 2 times -Tried running with 1 or 2 ram sticks in every combination possible -I took my cpu ( ryzen 3600 ) and put it in to his mobo and it works fine. ( i can`t put his cpu in to my mobo , it`s an older model) From my knowledge cpu`s are quite resilient and outlive most components but this one seems that it died. Any opinions?
  4. For the price of i5 12400 i can get a Ryzen 5 3600 and a mobo but I was reading that amd processors have a hard time transcoding. I`m not sure if the 3600 will be enough for 1 stream 4k transcoding and some extra room for torrenting
  5. Can i run torrent without a VPN on my NAS? In my country torrenting isn`t a problem
  6. I want unraid for the ease of adding more HDD and not having to be all of them the same size
  7. I`m new to this but after some days of research i`ve come up with this: I want to run unraid and start with only 1HDD due to a lack of money right now ( i can easily add more in 2 months) Processor: Intel i5 12400 Cooler: stock Motherboard: ASUS PRIME B760M-A Ram: Corsair Vengeance LPX Black 16GB DDR4 3200MHz CL16 Dual Channel Kit PSU: be quiet! Pure Power 11, 80+ Gold, 600W (or the 400W) Storage: Samsung 980 PRO 500GB PCI Express 4.0 (for cache) Seagate IronWolf 8TB SATA-III 7200RPM 256MB Case: Corsair 4000D Tempered Glass Black (i`m trying to find a better one with more mounting if not i`m going to 3d print them) i`m going to start only with 1 HDD without parity data and then add more as time goes I want my NAS to do 2 things well and if there`s room for more that`s even better -I want to download torrents directly on the NAS -I want to be able to access my NAS over LAN with my TV and watch 1080p and 4k movies from my NAS Extras: -If i can run plex (1 4k or 1080p stream is nice) -If there`s a plugin or something that can grab my photos from my phone and back up to my NAS automatically that`s awesome Am i on the right path?
  8. I guess I`m going to make some copies just in case. It`s easy to record internal audio on a pc and the sound seems the same.
  9. Yesterday I was playing to get 2 more books from Audible( I already have a few) but a thought hit me. If audible goes broke for some reason or Amazon pulls the plug on them I will most likely lose all my audiobook. In my country audiobooks from Audible are x2, x3 times more expensive than a normal book so they are a somewhat of a "big" investment. Are there any good alternatives to Audible where I can actually own the audiobook even if the company goes broke ?
  10. Indeed, there was a typo from the website from where i was going to buy it. I`m changing it to a ASRock Z790 STEEL LEGEND WIFI and going for faster ram Kingston FURY Beast 32GB DDR5 6000MHz CL40 Dual Channel Kit
  11. Budget (including currency): up to 4000$ ( 20000 RON ) Country: Romania Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: multiple instances of exocad and 10-20 chrome tabs Other details Processor: Intel i9 13900k Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 Motherboard: ASUS ROG STRIX Z690-A GAMING WIFI Ram: Kingston FURY Beast 32GB DDR5 5200MHz CL40 Dual Channel Kit GPU: GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 3070 Ti PSU: Seasonic Focus GX, 80+ Gold, 750W Storage: Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1TB PCI Express 3.0 x4 M.2 2280 + 2TB HDD Case: Corsair 4000D Tempered Glass Black 3 Noctua fans for intake and 3 for out + peripherals The pc is for the business i work in, they want the pc to run with 0 hiccups for the next 2-5 years that why the budged is so high. I`m not 100% sure if the 750W psu will be enough and if the ram chosen are a good match. I don`t have many DDR5 ram options anyway.
  12. The diference between this one and other even the cheapest x570 is less that 60$ in price in my country from where i`m buying it. For storage i like to go for well known models , they have to last , nobody is going to upgrade this pc for many many years. Yes, after doing some more research seems like the CL of the ram really matters in this case, i will go for CL16 And yes, the pc is overkill, is has to run perfect for many many years and the exocad software is kinda crappy. It can run on a potato but it lags like hell from my experience and as soon as you more modules you are wasting time and time is money. 2000$ PC or 4000$ PC makes little diference in this bussines when it comes to price. Thanks a lot!
  13. This is a PC that I made for work ( not my first time ) and I just need a quick confirmation that all is ok. Just in case i`m missing something. Processor: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 Motherboard: ASUS TUF GAMING X570-PLUS Ram: Corsair Vengeance LPX Black 32GB DDR4 4000MHz CL19 Quad Channel Kit GPU: GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 3060 Ti GAMING OC LHR 8GB GDDR6 256-bit PSU: Seasonic Focus GX, 80+ Gold, 750W Storage: Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1TB PCI Express 3.0 x4 M.2 2280 + 2TB HDD Case: Corsair Carbide Series 275R Airflow Black + peripherals The pc will run most of the time Exocad ( dental software ) 1. Is the 750W psu too much? or can i go with a 650W 2. I went for a 4x8 memory configuration based on this Gamer Nexus video and because the modules are small compared to the ones with RGB and i want to be sure that the cooler fits well with the modules. As far as i can tell all mobo with x570 chipset run in dual channel mode so there shouldn't be a problem.
  14. A friend of mine has a Asus Predator with a windows 10 license. Since the last update the laptop went in to suicide mode and the main programs that he uses for work just don`t work. I want to make a clean install of windows except i don`t want to lose his license. Is there a tutorial that can help me do that? i`ve only done full clean install of windows where everything is lost. Will the method of Settings > Updates > Recovery > Reset PC work > Remove everything work? and keep the license? Thankyou.
  15. Speed test from my XPS 15 over wi fi
