For me both my mom and grandmother (same side of family) are breast cancer survivors.
 
Also my grandfather had Alzheimer's and my grandmother on my dads side had dementia (both passed)
 
Just love to see how we can help fight these diseases in ways that are a little more hands on and help bring out the nerd in me.
 
 

Yeah we just had a couple of hot days in a row too and I'm considering turning my overclock down to see if it helps but not sure yet.

Admittedly not the best for the team but we are still producing over 29 million PPD. This is huge for us. And I'm noticing more 1m+ producers than I have ever seen before. Beyond all of that instead of just showing us that we will be overtaken by teams it looks like we can overtake one! Admittedly it wont be until 2020 but still didn't even see that when we were doing our folding week! I am definitely proud of what our team is able to do even with the temperatures rising and it being less and less bearable to fold. Also on a side note I have decided that October will be our Folding month was wondering if you think its too early to post that up on the main post?

I think I have a little wile before I hit 500m. lol. And that's awesome what do you have to sell to get it though? And just so you know if you were going to buy new a lot of brands are back down to msrp on newegg. (of course the brand I buy isn't yet, damn asus.)

Ok that makes sense. I was thinking with your hardware that you should be up there with us in ppd but yeah with electricity and heat right now its definitely time for a break for a lot of us. I'm just waiting to see how long I can really hold out, I already had to stop my cpu all together and turned off the oc on my gpu during the day.
Yeah. I also need to focus on my platform upgrade first. But after that maybe ill pick one up if I can find it cheap still. Rumor is that mining is making a comeback so all the good gpus will probably disappear soon.

makes sense I might consider doing a cpu loop when I do my upgrade in that case.

yeah I would have bought water cooling stuff too if it was that cheap. I keep wanting to then look at how much it would cost me to get the setup going and think that its just too much considering I like upgrading my gpu every 2 years or so...

According to EOC your at 95m right now and I would guess its reporting your ppd wrong since its doing the same for so maybe not the end of this week but I think next week for sure.

Lol. not yet so long as there aren't enough people producing on that level to kill my dreams of top ten then I'm still in it. Just too much effort for something that I'm for sure fixing in a month anyways.

The price difference comes down to about $200 and the 7820x gives me a nice boost in single threaded performance where the 2700x would basically give me the same single threaded performance. Both are 8 core 16 thread so its actually kinda tough to decide. But probably wouldn't have the budget for either for another month anyways.
Didn't think about that idea but even if i do have an m.2 slot open its too much effort to buy the adapter. That is the amount of lazy I am about this now. lol.

More like excellent pun alert. and that is nice. I don't think I'll be near that until I either upgrade my gaming rig platform or I get a motherboard for my "test bench" that isn't a mining board so that I can run my 670 through a 16x slot. Just not sure which direction I want to go with if I upgrade my gaming rig though. Still deciding between 2700x and 7820x... Also does anyone know who this Random_Australian is that is destroying everyone in PPD? He is at 2.3m!!! its insane.

Definitely a cool database but I was wondering if you could add additional fields to submit to as at least a lot of the hardcore ones of us are running multiple mixed GPUs in each rig and some of us running multiple rigs. I was wondering if there was a way of accounting for that or if we submit for each rig that we do. Also if there is a way to go back and edit a previous rig later as we upgrade and stuff or is this just to show what specific hardware is capable of?

I think that was only for x series chips and I think most monitoring software have changed it by now by having the adjusted temp shown on a separate line from the real temp.

Stock cooler should be fine but really its just a matter of keeping an eye on temps, Definitely able to tune performance (stay away form the slider with light, medium and full though) and you can tell F@H to only use a certain number of threads to fold (I don't know if its still the norm or not but I still try to leave at least one open thread for every GPU I have folding) I am sure that there are more complicated settings like when is use only using x number of threads as opposed to when not in use using all threads but I haven't messed with more complicated settings like that before personally, and as you have already learned any questions you have feel free to post them here (this thread is going to change to LTT folding team hangout soon) And most importantly WELCOME TO THE TEAM!! keep on folding.
Yeah I would check what voltage its pulling under load I remember when Ryzen is left stock hearing that it would pull extra voltage on its own even more than some overclocked systems so it might actually benefit you to overclock and apply a static voltage. But I personally don't run Ryzen so I haven't tried myself. And I will admit most of the time I just fold on gpu as well but when I do my platform upgrade this summer (either Ryzen 2700x or 7820x) I will get back into CPU folding full time.

Totally forgot about your water cooling project. Damn your cpu would have been awesome for the marathon too. But next time for sure.

totally unrelated but for any of you who missed the original announcement for this we will definitely need some help with this one. And thank you to @Ithanul for doing this since I know nothing about BOINC and didn't even know this was a thing until he posted it. But definitely everyone who can I will switching over to BOINC for this event and would love if the rest of you joined in since this will be more of a real competition with other teams.

Oh I didn't think about that. So it might be more of an AMD thing where it uses gpu memory instead of system memory for other work units. And this might be a dumb question but what api does it use for amd cards? (I honestly don't even remember if it uses cuda on my nvidia cards or not)

I do remember seeing something from gamer's nexus on overclocking hbm improving performance when the frontier edition came out but I just assumed that was because the benchmarks they were using actually used the gpu ram as opposed to system. Definitely interesting. I don't think Ive touched the ram on my 1080ti yet so I might play with that tonight and let you know if its just a vega thing or not.
