So I'll have to boot into windows and load Precision X1 to change the LEDs from Green to Blue
You know with all the gaming support that has been happening for Linux lately I was really hoping that manufactures would start to catch on and make it so we can have led control and other supporting software in Linux too. Especially considering on graphics cards is clearly firmware implemented since you can change it and it will stay that way across the board.
Peripherals are a completely different rant that I can go on about this too.

PSA that Jake is a proper lad and made accomodation for me having more 8-pin power plugs on my gpu than the cablemod kit came with
Congrats to all the other winners and yet another thankyou to every single one of you that took part
Agreed. Jake made it really easy for me as well even when I was having issues with outlook for a bit.

Sprints are just mini events, we had our first last year, planning to be a week or so. Been thinking about doing a 'long jump' event over a long weekend to have a bit of a laugh and see how much power you can muster for a short period of time.
3 days of fans at 100% ac on and blowing directly into the tower and clocks at that last bit before instability. I like this.

@palespartan can you please add to the OP or best answer that the period for claiming the original prizes has now passed, the draw of the remaining prizes for the factual correction ranks will take place Thursday, 14th.

Please go ahead and check out the new BOINC community board as well to get information about other distributed computing projects out there.
Thanks to @Ithanul for making this and being our BOINC team leader!
Will add this information to the OP soon but I have a major edit to do on it changing formatting and a lot of things to add to the term "soon" is being used kinda loosely.
Also information about the recent folding month prizes:

Well... Uh.... We have another casualty... My brand new RTX 2060, it's fan has clipped the retention screws on the GPU below and we'll, it's not pretty.
It was advertised as a 2-slot card but my measurements put it at 2.15-2.25 not enough to cause issues for most people...
Guess I need to email them and see what's best to do from here
If the rma doesn't work out ill trade you both my 970s for it. I'll even slap back on the modded bios I did for them a while back if you really want to heat your house. lol

Probably best not to do that. I will see about setting up a thread this weekend for BOINC.
No problem. Will definitely be following it. Goal is to win the pentathlon this year!

Is there a BOINC community board like for Folding? - I cannot seem to find it.
I have some questions that I would like to ask.
6 hours ago, Favebook said:Yo @Ithanul, it would be great if you could make one .
There isn't at the moment. But I do include BOINC events here as well. @Ithanul If you wanted we could change this to just the distributed computing board and combine forces?

Love it!
Think we can use all these GPUs for team LTT to sim it?
Ok everyone were quitting folding for a month so we can run a distributed computing calculation of what we could do to add 2 hours to the day. lol

On my way home, have a small(30 mins) soldering project to complete for a customer and then have some PMs to answer if I have the time. Then I need to sort mine and my partners meds for tomorrow... Hmm... why arent there more hours in the day?
Ive got it. Next project is to slow earths rotation to make it a 27 hour days so you can get a couple hours of sleep.

Thanks so much man, I'm working on a few things behind the scenes but hopefully will have a new faq post to replace whalers mature one. Also have some other things planned for the new year. Right now I'm working so have limited ability to reply.
No worries. Maybe you should add to your next projects sleeping. lol

Well, some of the prizes, like the memory, were originally posted without the top 100 only qualifier (actually, none of them had draw ranks listed when I looked prior to that). I'd actually been hoping to win it so I'd have a better reason to have to build a new system, until I saw the new top 100 qualifier on it the other night. #FeelsGuttedMan
You are right there. I didn't even know that was on the list for things that were being given away. Yes it looks like unfortunately that is a top 100 prize though. Sorry about that.

I'd have to agree with you. Problem is the prizes are donated and I think the donors decide how they're given out. Luckily the big LTT prizes don't have those restrictions.
Actually we are awarding the prizes not the donors. The details are in the op for who is eligible for what.

Please consider an event using BOINC if for no other reason than their software is so much more user friendly! (Also, if you do SETI then LTT could be credited with finding ET...)
You might want to consider checking out the BOINC Pentathlon that comes around every early spring. But when it comes to user friendliness I think folding is much more user friendly than BOINC simply because you can install it and ignore it and it will work. Most of our gripes are with optimization to pull that extra last bit out of what we do.

Botnet Folding you say....
I've always wondered this. Like someone out there who was just trying to make an exploit to show people that it existed and needed to be fixed but then have them run F@H or Boinc. Would be pretty cool. But if it does happen.... errr... I didn't do it. lol
5 hours ago, LAR_Systems said:Is there a reason why this is only once a year / in October?
Could a dead of winter session be a thing so we could leverage cooler temps outside to balance out our rigs cooking our homes? Also got to take into consideration our friend in the southern hemisphere they were actually able to fold for the beginning of the event pretty well before temps kicked up in the last couple of weeks. But it might change back to November next year. Just need to figure out what the perfect balance is.

Sounds like a daylight savings time issue.

I never thought we would actually see the day where there are more folders out there than possible work to do. I know its frustrating for us who pride ourselves on the personal accomplishments we have in folding but lets take a second and realize that we are giving F@H more power than they can fully utilize even!
