You should use a switch with gigabit network ports, the price difference shouldn't be that great.

I see you linked to eBay malaysia, which kind of limits choices. if you had time to buy from ebay global you could score a good switch for cheap.

You should also think about going to some of the local stores (especially used hardware stores around you) to ask them if they'd be willing to let you "rent" one or if they'd be willing to let you borrow one for the duration of the event.
In worst case scenario, offer to give a deposit (some amount of money) as a guarantee that you'll take care off the hardware and come back with it,  and the money they'll return to you when you come back with the switch

I thought it was something like 3 day event, something over the weekend.
i was considering buying something cheap locally and mailing it to you, but the cheapest shipping to Malaysia is around 30$ so in this case you wouldn't get a better deal compared to buying from some countries closer to you, or from local stores.

There's a company here which buys hardware from companies that every few years sell their old hardware and lease new stuff, and often they get new unboxed hardware from such companies and sell it cheaply, only dowside is that it's maybe a few years old.
For example, they have now a 24 x 100mbps ports network switch branded Repotec 1724DR for 19$ or 24 x 100mbps ports with management Avaya P333T switch for 20$.

you could try removing the driver then letting windows install it. I had to do this when msi and even ccc wouldn't apply any settings I changed.

use DDU (display driver uninstaller) and reinstall the nvidia driver, that'll at least eliminate driver issues.

If it didn't have enough juice then the PC just wouldn't power on or would shut down under heavy load, it wouldn't underperform.
Plus, the PSU is a 650W unit, more then enough juice.

there's no power negotiation with the psu.

it either has enough power, it shuts off to keep itself from dying, or it catches fire.

joshua_lotion got a reaction from vorticalbox in Upgrade or new?
If the prebuilt pc has a standard cpu socket, i recommend getting a more powerful one as you mentioned that you need it for editing. I haven't checked out that model but if the socket is lga1151 i recommend a i5 6500 quad core skylake. It's about $200USD. However if the cpu is not the only bottleneck, you should just save up for a new one. Check out my post i have a budget pc list. If you think its too expensive you can swap out the 960 for sth cheaper like a 760 or 750ti.

So, as usual, reference model of Pascal is more expensive and we want the custom models, so, here we go!

    Zotac GTX 1060 AMP!

Even tho it's not the Mini variant (which we will look in a second) it's a bit shorter. It still has 2 fans none the less.
    It looks cool IMO.

    GTX 1060 Mini

It's shorter than it's bigger brother and it has a single but big fan, which is OK. It has approximately the same dimensions as the GTX 1070 Mini, just cheaper and less powerful.

Both of these cards are powered by a single 6-pin connector and both will ship with up to 6G of video buffer.

They look great IMO, keep on the good work Zotac!
