  1. At idle it drops down to 0.8v and at load its at 1.399v but thats with it downclocking to 800Mhz. Is there anyway to get around this?
  2. Hi I just recently built a new machine and have been attempting an overclock and have been getting very strange results. I changed the core ration to 50 and the voltage to 1.33 first which failed (it just blue screened it would even start any stress test there didn't seem to be any thermal issues). I then increased voltage with no luck. The only thing that worked was setting voltage to auto which made the voltage go up to right around 1.39 or 1.4 volts. This didn't present any thermal issues when I ran cinebench or the intel extreme tuning stress test and furmark with temps peaking at 93 and averaging 85. However what was most frustrating was my Cinebench scores went down after overclock, from 4820 at stock to 4400 at 5Ghz. I have gone into task manager and made Cinebench high priority but still no luck. Specs: CPU: Intel Core i9 9900k Cooler: Be Quiet Dark Rock Pro 4 Motherboard: Gigabyte Z390i Aorus Pro Wifi Memory: 32Gb (2x16) Crucial 3200Mhz (XMP enabled) GPU: Radeon VII Power Supply: EVGA GM 650 Any help would be greatly appreciated!
  3. I forgot to mention that I will be going to college next year and plan to drive with it for around 4-5 hours 3 or so times a year. In this case would an aio make more sense? I was reading that air coolers are bad for transporting. I'm keeping the case box and Styrofoam for my case to transport to help with the possibility of damage, but does it make more sense for aio if I am traveling or does it make no difference. Thanks so much again for all your help.
  4. Thank you so much for your help. I think I'm going to see if I can get the NH-D15 to fit effectively in this small case, and if it isn't possible I will just return the D15 and use the NH-U12A with a smaller overclock. Again thanks so much for your help.
  5. I would prefer to go with the H80i V2 if possible, but everyone seems to think it performs significantly worse since it is a 120mm aio instead of 240mm aio. The reason I would rather a smaller cooler is just for ease of installation if I have to go with a bigger one for performance than so be it. I am located in the united states. My budget for cpu cooler is probably up to $140. If I can get basic overclocks with the h80i v2 than that would be my preferred option.
  6. I know it makes more sense to go with Ryzen, but I plan on making hackintosh and for the most stable build I decided to go with the 9900k. I'm getting 4 noctua fans to fill all the case fans. So, I'm hoping it should work. I'll check out the nh-u12a. Thanks.
  7. Hi thanks so much for your help. Do you think it would make the NHU12s comparable to Dark rock pro 4 if I install a second fan? Or will there still be a significant bonus to the dark rock. I only plan on overclocking to 5GHz or slightly higher. Thanks again for your help.
  8. Hi all, I am currently struggling to figure out what cooler would be the best option for a 9900k. I am building in a Lian Li TU150. It can fit almost any air cooler, but I am worried about the installation. I would much rather a smaller air cooler or even a 120mm aio if possible. I want to overclock, but nothing too crazy. As of now I'm thinking these are my main options (I listed them in my preference order, but I just don't know if they can perform well enough): NH-u12s (I would be running NH-u12s with two fans) H80i V2 Extreme BeQuiet Dark Rock Pro 4 NH-D15 Thanks for your help in advance. Edit: Just for clarification, I understand i9 9900k is not the best cpu right now, but I plan on making a hackintosh, so intel was most reliable option.
  9. This looks good what do you think: https://pcpartpicker.com/part/sapphire-video-card-100384nt4goc2l
  10. do I really need that? Thats a little bit over my budget and I think maybe a 960 with 2gb of ram would work. Do I need 4gb for what I'm doing?
  11. but is it really necessary? I'm already almost at max budget with a 960 This is my current build: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/sZMXgs
  12. So my main three options are to either buy a gtx 960 or wait for the new gpus or to go with an and? I don't plan on buying this build for the next couple weeks but if something goes on sale i'll buy it. @DaltonM @wcreek @Bananasplit_00
  13. Can you send me to an amazon link for which one you're thinking of, I'm really new to this. Sorry.
  14. I'm looking to create a new machine that has no intention of gaming. I have one 1440p monitor and one 1080p monitor. I plan on doing some 3D design work but not a lot. I also would like something that will be future proof but won't break the bank. I also need it to be able to run photoshop, and I do professional programming so I need it to be able to run lots of windows.
