  1. I had a rather similar issue with the same monitor and and a 970. It wouldn't happen all the time and occasionally messing with the DP cable on the monitor side fixed it. Or turning it on and off repeatedly. The computer would be on but nothing shown on screen and would turn off as soon as I pressed the on/off switch (rather than taking a couple seconds), it wouldn't power my mouse and keyboard too. The 970 works fine on HDMI though (different monitor) and the new card I got works fine on the Acer monitor with a different DP cable. I know that seems a bit hap hazard but I only just realised that I had only fixed it upon installing new GPU. I read somewhere that the 9xx series had issues with display port, can't remember where I read it though. So in short, with me, it was either 2 cheap display port cables DODNT work and the third slightly pricier one worked or it was the 970 which works fine of HDMI.
  2. 3mbps upload bandwidth isn't going to be the issue, don't worry about it. Does single player play the same as multiplayer? Is it every single server you play or just that particular one?
  3. CPU fan power plugged in? Sounds silly but happens more than you'd think lol.
  4. Headset, mouse, keyboard and mousemat are razer, it started off with the deathadder and ended up with the black widow tournament mechanical keyboard which then led to the Kraken chroma... then the mousemat. I don't even have any other reason for getting them besides their colour scheme being the same! (I didnt buy the keyboard it was a gift) I found some cheap megalodons but had to get rid because it was a blue light. I'd say its maybe more OCD than fanboyism though.
  5. 3570k is fine for bf1, you won't see a huge difference by upgrading it. 7870 won't stop you playing, but definitely worth upgrading at some point in near future if you're wanting to play mostly ultra. I would say the biggest issue you'll have is RAM, a lot of people are complaining of issues with 8gb. Ram is reasonably cheap at the moment so I personally would make that my priority. I wouldn't worry about upgrading your current CPU platform, my other pc handles pretty much every game at 1080p max (most of the time)
  6. If you're work laptop allows you to do pretty much everything except gaming, then a PS4 isn't a bad choice (seeing as it's mainly casual gaming). However, you could mash up a half decent pc for not too much more considering you have the GPU already, I would go PC, but mostly due to the HTPC side of stuff. Plus losing the 'backwards compatability' by switching to console would be an annoyance for me as I do occasionally still play older titles. I think overall you'd save more money in the mid to long term with a pc.
  7. @eLucid what would be your suggestion for a better FPS at £25? I would have to say that I enjoy BF1, just as I have enjoyed BF4, BF3, BF:BC2 etc. Just as you have enjoyed fifa 04 to 17, is there really much of a difference? At £25 I would definitely suggest this game to anyone remotely interested in shooters.
  8. As previously stated, I realise you're not really interested in origin access, but... You'll get access to; Starwars battlefront, bf4+premium, bf3+premium, bf hardline+premium, crysis 1, 2, and 3 Dragon age games, need for speed games, fifa 16, mass effect games, mirrors edge, Titanfall + more For the price of £3.99 per month, I feel as though it is certainly good value (as long as you dont own most of these games already) and you can cancel whenever you want. It also give you 10% off all origin purchases which can save a few quid. (Man I sound like a sales rep ?) Although, if It's still not your cup of tea, even though you're mainly in it for single player I believe you'd get the most out of bf3 or bf4. Single player is Ok, but hours and hours worth of multiplayer IMO. For single player I do prefer crysis 1, or bad company 2 (which the latter is only £3.49, and still has a fairly active online community I believe) Crysis 3 does look amazing though! Hope this helps!
  9. Ahh, I'll still probably get one, but I had a feeling that'd be the case. As you said, a pretty good variety but slightly over priced at £8.99? Origin access at £3.99 Is a much better model IMO... Although it's a shame I already own the more expensive games lol. I forgot to cancel grid/geforce now and ended up paying for it for around a year afterward (stupid I know lol) so make sure you cancel it haha. They refunded me 2 or 3 months which was nice of them I guess. I wonder if I'd get another 3 month trial... probably not. Not that I care much as I'm not interested in playing batman... again lol.
  10. My only real problem I had was that all my friends played then was CSGO.. So I hardly ever used it (even p90 rushes were a bit difficult haha) Think I'll get it again. Is GeForce now a bit better... now? It mainly consisted of Lego games, and some older titles I really wasnt interested in replaying, which kinda sucked lol. As I said, try to make sure you have a good connection, both to the shield and your PC. (I work in telecoms and the last thing I wanted to do was faff around at home making an extension lol) Obviously, some issues with games running through DRM like GTA, but work arounds exist.
  11. In fact... I may buy a shield next month lol (was considering a console, but steam link or shield is probably a better idea for me)
  12. I had the first type of Nvidia shield and streaming from grid worked very well, however, streaming from my PC didn't work as well as I had imagined, although that was likely an issue of my own since my PC at the time was connected via wireless or PLA's (finally just got around to making an external data extension) So my overall experience was probably a 7/10, very responsive and was able to play some FPS games and still win firefights. But occasional stuttering was a problem (very likely due to my set-up as mentioned earlier) I have since sold my device, and now wish i hadnt haha. Frame rate was generally consistent and when in console mode 1080p 60 fps I believe. I would recommend the device wholeheartedly.
  13. I'll be monitoring CPU and GPU utilisation and see if I run into similar results. It does seem off. I am wondering why people are recommending an i7 as a solution, vast majority of games will see the two as very very similar right? If it plays relatively well on a console it should be able to play on a PC ok.
  14. What are your mic level settings at? Mic properties, levels. Might see boost underneath? Turn on listen to mic if it isnt already. (In the listen tab)
  15. Mic set as default device/comms device in sounds/recordings? (Sorry if a bit obvious lol)
