  1. This would be a great upgrade from my unbranded $5 wireless mouse and second hand keyboard. I don't have a mousemat and use a $20 pair of headphones for audio
  2. I'd love to win that mouse, I am so tired of using the shitty $10 wireless mouse I have been using for the past 3 years, I want something better for my new PC
  3. In my country the 4590 is almost just as expensive as the 4460, so I am going for the 4590 then! Now just looking for a motherboard with an LGA1150 socket and usb 3 headers. I don't need crossfire / sli support EDIT: This looks good https://pcpartpicker.com/part/gigabyte-motherboard-gab85mds3ha
  4. Totally did not realise the 4200U only has 2 physical cores. Also, when I tested the performance I used one program, which of course does not use all threads (silly me...)
  5. It may be not very CPU intensive, but my 4200U already struggles when trying to watch 1080p video on secondary screen while programming. I have a lot of programs open all the time (and no, it is not a memory problem, most of the time I use only 7/12 gigs). GitHub, Eclipse, A lot of tabs in Chrome, Fraps, TeamViewer, Skype, and Minecraft (I am a Minecraft mods/plugin developer)
  6. I don't play a lot of games, and when I do I play CPU intensive ones. I mostly run very CPU intensive programs and multitasking
  7. Oh.. My parent's PC has an i5, but I don't feel like it's much faster. I am looking for a real upgrade over my 4200 right now, and preferrably while not spending too much money
  8. I don't really want to go for a 4460. It is not that much faster than a 4200, is it?
  9. Oh.. Just read that, and I really don't want to damage my CPU. Is there a non-skylake processor with similar speeds?
  10. Is this required? I already have some 2x4GB of DDR3 memory laying around, so I'd prefer using that.
  11. My Dell Inspiron 15 3537 with an i5-4200U processor and no graphics card was becoming way too slow for my needs. So, I decided get a new PC, and build it myself. I am on a pretty tight budget: €550, which is approximately $600 (USD). What I use a computer for: Web browsing (obviously) Programming Running very CPU intensive programs Casual gaming Parts: PCPartPicker part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/pbW4K8 Price breakdown by merchant: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/pbW4K8/by_merchant/ CPU: Intel Core i5-4590 3.3GHz Quad-Core Processor ($189.99 @ SuperBiiz) Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-B85M-DS3H-A Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($48.98 @ OutletPC) Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($86.99 @ Amazon) Case: NZXT S340 (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case ($63.99 @ SuperBiiz) Power Supply: EVGA 500W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply ($35.98 @ Newegg) Monitor: Acer H236HLbid 60Hz 23.0" Monitor ($129.99 @ Best Buy) Other: Some Kingston 2x4GB DDR3 1600 memory I have laying around (Purchased For $40.00) Other: Windows 10, getting this from Kinguin ($20.00) Total: $615.92 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2016-02-28 03:13 EST-0500 I went for a 500W PSU, even though the build only uses about 150W. This is because I plan to buy a graphics card later on, when I have enough money. Not really sure what I'll buy yet, I was thinking of a GTX 950. (somewhere in a $100-150 price range). For now the iGPU on the i5 is just fine; according to benchmarks twice as fast as the iGPU on the i5-4200U Full part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/RobinMC/saved/#view=L7Wkcf Note: Yes, I don't have any drives other than the 256GB SSD. I don't need lots of storage; that is what I use my NAS for.
