  1. Could probably save some money on your case choice unless theres something specfic you like about that case.

Just spend some time on newegg to find a case that's probably cheaper and might even offer the same stuff.

Another thing I just thought about. since your not using the overclockable version of the CPU, you can look at the B or H boards in the LGA 1151 socket.

The Z170 boards are mainly for overclocking. The B and H boards typically lock out overclocking. There's a few more bucks saved.

  2. It'll help you save some money.

If you don't need the hyperthreading that the 6700 offers, can even pick up a 6600. That's really the biggest difference between the 2. The 6700 is for more video editing, cpu heavy programs, and such.

I'd explain hyperthreading, but I'm bad at explaning things. I know what it does, but can't explain it.

You could always cut down your SSD to a 500gb and put lesser used programs on a cheaper 7200rpm hard drive.

If you go that route, Western Digital Black or Blue drives are pretty good.

For $199 it is a great card, and apparently you can do some BIOS tweaking in enable the other 4gb for 8gb in total

Yea my HTPC just has a EVGA 670 in it. So even a 4gb card would be a big upgrade for it. It's just a 2500k ITX. My 2nd pc, just bought the itx board and swapped it all into a smaller case for the living room.

No what they showed off was a 480x, a dual GPU card beating a 1080. Not a single

I'm not a real AMD fan boy. Just only knew about the RX480. Not any other cards.

The RX480 was something I started looking at to update my HTPC's older card.

  5. Is there a specific budget, color you had in mind, and what size do you want your pc?

Mini ITX and Micro ATX are smaller PC's. ATX is a slightly bigger pc. EATX is a VERY large PC.

Any plans you have with the pc? Like gaming, netflix, video editing. It all helps so someone can help you find the best parts for you.

You're the best! I actually Already have the other half of the PC. It's going in a Define S And I'm going to use my Corsair... 870A? Something like that... Got the full custom water loop planned out too.. But I'll definitely run through your suggestions.

    I didn't know man.

AX860 or AX860i, unless it's an older psu.

It's just stuff I know that's white and black. I almost went that route too with my 6700k build. I went red/gray/black.

Hope you enjoy and find more white and black stuff.

  7. The RX480 got hyped to be a Pascal competitive card.

It wasn't. What did you expect from a 200 dollar card? I figured it was a value minded card. AMD killed it there.

I personally don't have any hate towards it. I plan on picking one up for my HTPC.

I think it's perfect for budget minded builds, or just someone looking to get alot for their money.

  8. 6600k - 250

    Asus Z170 Deluxe - 320

    Dominator Platinum 4x8gb at 3000mhz - 215

    950 Pro 256gb - 200

    NZXT 340 - 70

    EVGA 850 P2 - 130

There's a basic computer with room left for a gpu in your choice. It's all in a white/black color.

That's 1,185 bucks. 500 bucks left for a gpu and or custom white/black sleeved psu cables.

Add 100 bucks for going with a 6700k over the 6600k.

  9. Im running an overclocked 6700k, h100 with push/pull, 4 other case fans, 2 Asus Strix 1080's and case lighting all off a AX860i currently.

Normally I run a AX1200i, but my 24 pin plug on it broke and Corsair is RMA'ing it right now. So I broke out my back up PSU.

No issues, Corsair link says at idle I'm pulling 260ish out of the wall. I do not have a separate power meter to see my actual wattage, but Link is good enough for what I need.

    Nice xD

My friends 6700k can't even get to 4.8. His didn't come with a low 1.20 voltage like mine. His was at 1.3 out of the box.

He's thinking about sending it back and getting another to see if he can get a better OC'er. I just got lucky.

I wasn't going to OC it until I saw I had the right CPU for it. My low voltage stock helped.

This exites me xD as I plan to get a 6700k towards the end of this year for my new pc...

I just kept going up on the OC. Until voltage didn't work. Then up on it.

I started at 4.5 on stock. Just bumped voltages up in .250 amounts until I got to 5. I could do 5.1 or 5.2 if I had better cooling. My H100 doesn't like 87C. It managed 5.2 at 1.39 but the temps were too high for my liking.

I've been thinking about just going custom water cooling. Although if I did I'd have to build another PC to not carry around a custom water loop pc.

  12. I tried..

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233527&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-PC&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-PC-_-pla-_-Memory+(Desktop+Memory)-_-N82E16820233527&gclid=Cj0KEQjwwMi7BRDGptbvwOCDj8oBEiQAIALyDMh-hI4EyoFXFKJPVG8ZTjZWGoz8i4Qo4L9R2gWHgIQaAktW8P8HAQ&gclsrc=aw.ds

Always that.. It's a little off from the Trident Z but it's still red/black..

Could always do gray and black also. If your board has some of those colors. I bought the GSkill then saw the Axevir and was like, man I want that now..

Take into consideration that Corsair link is terribly inaccurate.

    I have a 3930k + 2x R9 280X, at idle Corsair Link showed around 240W, with a dedicated power meter It was around 160W. :P

    Just never bought one.

I've bought some weird things for PC's. Magnifying glass, latex gloves, dye, distilled water. Just never bought a power meter. I might pick up one to see how it's doing. Corsair Link is all I have atm. It gives you more of an idea than an actual number.

I know what my electric bill looks like and with 5 pc's, 3 tv, 2 tablets, 4 phones and I'm sure I'm missing something. My house's electric bill has probably paid for upgrades that I'm never going to see.

To be fair, all 5 of the Pc's are mine, and my GF just uses one. The tablets were a christmas gift, I just use mine for reading books, We both have a job that gives us a phone. Well when I took over my grandpa's business I took his phone so everyone could remember our number. He just got a new one. My GF is a new reporter, so she has a work phone that she gives out that number, and keeps her personal phone away from there. Living room tv, bedroom tv, Garage TV.. Gotta have something to listen to when working on a car.

My meter at home just spins at a good pace. My mom's by comparison barely moves. I think mine is trying to set a record.

I've been doing a lot of research to see how many watts is really needed for EVGA GTX 1080 FTW 2 - SLI. I'm running skylake (i7 6700k) AIO 240mm radiator. I have about 6 120/140mm fans. I do have some LEDS as well. I do plan to overclock everything to. Would I need 1000w? Forums I've been reading have different answers. Some say you should get 1000w, others say 850w is more than enough. I am reaaallllyyyy confused as to how many watts I'll need. I trust these forums the most, so you guys are the tiebreakers :)

    I've got a 1200w but it's possible with a 850.

I've got the same computer you do. H100, with push pull, 3 front fans 1 rear fan and sli 1080's.

There's an AX860i in my pc right now. Whenever my AX1200i gets back it's going back in. Broken connector on my 1200.

The Z170-P Is not at all even remotely the same as the Z170-Premium. Please do some research before dropping a bombshell like that so far off course lol.

It's not my fault it's not listed on Asus's site.  Amazingly newegg sells it. Asus doesn't have it listed.

I saw Z170-P and was like well there it is.
