kriptcs got a reaction from Whatisthis in Random System Crashes and Bluescreen on new CPU, MB & Ram install
So the more bizzare issue is it seems that just 1 ram seems to work. Doesn't matter which ram or which slot. I haven't got a bsod since u sent that message..I will do some more extensive testing of course and figure it out. Thank you for the insight!

kriptcs reacted to GamerMoment in Random System Crashes and Bluescreen on new CPU, MB & Ram install
One thing I would suggest is reducing memory speed and/or removing all but one DIMM module and trying to boot with just one installed. How the BCD can be corrupt even in a fresh install is beyond me but I'm sure other people will have other, better ideas lol. What's your board's maximum rated memory speed?

kriptcs reacted to GamerMoment in Random System Crashes and Bluescreen on new CPU, MB & Ram install
8-pin CPU power cables can handle like 300w so it's definitely not that. I had something similar happen to me when I was changing memory speeds and had to go back to a restore point, but obviously that isn't an option if you've just performed a fresh Windows install. What happens when Windows tries to repair itself? Does it come up with the same error code 0xc0000225? Sounds like the BCD is corrupt and needs repairing.

AFAIK AIOs should have the same if not better performance than air coolers, so there must be an issue with my system

kriptcs got a reaction from Crunchy Dragon in iMac 27" Late 2013 - Does it hold up for 2022?
For sure. I think I am going with a windows machine in the end since it's what he's used to, I can get a lot of performance for my money and also assurance that things will work as usual

kriptcs got a reaction from Darkseth in iMac 27" Late 2013 - Does it hold up for 2022?
I get you on that but the cheapest Macbook Air M1 that I can find is 730$...that is double what my initial budget is and I simply cannot afford that right now. And since I see how big a mess apple laptops and computers are I might just switch to windows laptops. I found 2020 laptops with 10th gen Intel CPUs for 300$ so there's just no point

Okay. I will look into it, thanks a lot!

I reset the bios and only messed with the ram frequency and flck. Which I set at 3200 and 1600 respectively

kriptcs got a reaction from Mark Kaine in Are these benchmark results on par with my specs?
Reinstall windows, installed CS
Default bios (2133mhz memory)
The csgo benchmark with the exact same settings is now 556fps.
So it's already somewhere around the range of where it should be. I will change the ram to 3000mhz and try again.

kriptcs got a reaction from Mark Kaine in Are these benchmark results on par with my specs?
Yeah I get that. But I also did so many changes and didn't bother to change back because they did virtually nothing. The only thing that I did that actually helped is up the ram frequency from a sad 2133 to a 3333. Everything else I did changed 0. But I will do as u say and uninstall windows and revert the bio to default (with the exception of ram frequency) and try once again and hopefully it will work fine.

Similar setups have about 10k in 3dmark.

GPU Driver: 526.98 (Latest as of Nov 16)
Windows 10 64 bit at the latest update (Can't see the exact number anywhere)
What's running at boot part 1 part 2
Idle temps on Open Hardware Monitor: part 1 part 2
Under Load (AIDA64 Extreme everything checked) Temps: part 1 part 2
And I will go to the bios now and check

most new stock b450 boards are compatible out of the box. you can ask the vendor if the has a "ryzen 3000 ready" sticker on the box.

kriptcs reacted to goldmund in How good is the RTX 2070 now?
Maybe it's a driver problem? Because that card is pretty decent I think.
In Latvia it's about 370 eur.

ultra THICC air coolers are a thing for GPUs, they are fairly priced and work very well

I Checked The NZXT Kraken G12 Which @xdeathshot20 Referenced To And It Unfortunately Does Not Natively Support The 2070, However If Your Willing To Get A Bit Creative Then I Have Found A YouTube Video Which Claims To Mod The Cooler To Make It Compatible With The 2070.
The Kraken G12 Itself Costs Around $29.99 Or £24.99 And Is Compatible With Many Aio's On The MArket.

kriptcs reacted to minibois in Any effective cooling solution other than water cooling?
NZXT has systems (brackets) so you can mount an AIO (their AIOs of course) to a videocard. Like the Kraken G12 (which doesn't seem to support the 2070, sadly).
That + the waterblocks you mentioned are kind of the only watercooling options for GPU's. In the past there were alternative air coolers too (like the Accelero III) but that has kind of fallen out of fashion.
Adding more airflow into the system is an option too, but you're kind of dependent on your ambient (room) temperatures too.
The temperature of a device is comprised from a couple factors including, but not limited to:
- Ambient temp
- Device temp (some devices just run hotter/cooler)
- Airflow (or lack there of)
With a lower ambient you will experience lower device temps too. With more airflow (or a better cooler.. Whatever) you're just removing heat more efficiently. The GPU/CPU is stll producing as much heat. You're just removing it better.

kriptcs reacted to mathijs727 in Ryzen 9 3900x with 750W PSU, is it a stretch?
Im running a 3900X + GTX1080 on a 550W PSU without issues (although I admit that 550W might be stretching it a bit), 750W is more than enough.
EDIT:
CPU package power is ~145W max (without PBO) in Cinebench R20.
GPU power maxed out at 160W in CS:GO although it might get a bit higher in more GPU intensive games (rated at 180W).
So even a 550W PSU is well within spec for such a setup.
