Oh no, a developer adds cosmetic items to a game which you can either get from playing the game or pay for the ones you want! and not just that, if you go with the latter, 50% of the money goes towards esport teams instead of the developers!

What a terrible thing to do!

    /sarcasm

    Edit:
Actually, I think these are really good news. I think this is a great example of how to do lootboxes properly.
    1) Release the game at full price.
    2) Constantly release patches which adds new characters, tweak things, new maps etc, for free.
    3) Have cosmetic things which you can either get from lootboxes (which you earn by simply playing the game), or by buying specific skins with money.
    4) Give some of the money you earn from lootboxes (50% is a big chunk) to the esport teams to support them.

On top of that, you can get one free skin of your choice for free.

    I see this as a win-win-win situation.
Players gets a great game with gets additional content for free. On top of that you never feel like you lost because someone had spent more money than you. Blizzard wins by having a reliable stream of revenue to fund future content with. eSports wins by getting funded by the developers themselves. Good job Blizzard!

You should follow the Machete order:

    4, 5, (1), 2, 3, 6, 7, 8.

Why this? A great explanation comes from the guy who invented it.

singleplayer is great, and it gets better if you have the patience to collect all guns and parts around the map and try to play it "seriously" with camo and stealth.
multiplayer is even better as it will get more stuff in the future

I'd copy the stuff she needs to the external drive, wipe the laptop, boot something like BitDefender rescue (live usb), plug in the drive and scan it (this is just for extra safety). if files are safe, proceed to install windows on laptop and copy back files

the sad truth is, lootcrates and chopped up games are here to stay. Modern games are super expensive to make and produce, and since these shady tactics are generating lots and lots of money in addition to the retail.
If they where to ditch those tactics the prices for the retails would have to go up significantly probably close to 200 bucks for a game like battlefront with all the branding and stuff.
I dont like how it is, but it is probably not changing anytime soon.

Mass Effect: Andromeda was a bad decision on my part, I'll give you that.  In that case it was someone else talking me into it.  He had already ordered it for his first PC game, and wanted someone to play with.  It's usually when I absolutely KNOW I want something that I'll order it.  For example, if it's a series I collect like Metroid or Zelda.  I'm also not talking about bullshit skins when I say bonuses.  I mean like when it includes an extra game or something.  I pre-ordered A Link Between Worlds and got Oracle of Ages with it.

Cryosec got a reaction from Ruffleduffle in Should I refund COD: WW2?
I don't want to go off topic hear, but even if I agree on the 10% saving, preordering still means you'll buy something you don't know if it's even finished (ME:A wasn't). bonuses are just stuff you can unlock in game or completely useless (special skins and other stuff)

my way is just to never support EA with preorders

The Raspberry Pi 3's ethernet and USB hub share the same controller -- on top of that, the Pi 3's built-in Ethernet is 100Mbit.... So even if you had 10Gbit networking the Raspberry Pi wouldn't be able to reach speeds faster than 100Mbit (12.5 megabytes) per second.
