  1. Hi Chaps, I've been off this forum for years, focusing on music, but I've hit a limit for how long I can go without missing skyrim. It's time to build a PC again. I'd welcome suggestions on anything in this build (especially to lower the price) since I've been out of touch with the PC hardware scene for so long. It'll need to be small and I will need a 5.25" bay (hence case choice). I already have a GTX 760 I borrowed from a friend ages ago, so I'll start there with a view to upgrade later. It'll be for gaming and 4K video editing. I'm sorted for peripherals for now and thankfully that's something I can actually find myself! Hitting the £500 mark would be great! 2. It really annoys me that there's an epic synth AT THE DAMN LIBRARY! I'M SO ENVIOUS
  3. Who wouldn't get on with deadmau5 tbf I'd try and take his whole Doepfer wall home with me
  4. Yeah, modular is definitely not a space or cost efficient/effective way of making music. Fun though!
  5. Hi Chaps, Been an age since I've been on this forum. Interests change, ya'know? Was wondering if there are any other modular synthesis nerds hiding? Show off your gear!
  6. https://www.amazon.co.uk/CablesOnline-Powered-Microphone-Adapter-IP-MIC6/dp/B00EOYWXD0 This is all I've found, and it's unavailable
  7. Hi Guys, Simple one for you today. I need one of these: Basically like like a NAS without any of the electronic parts for archive sorting purposes. The one pictured is an iDSonix 5 Bay 'Hard Drive Protective Case', which isn't available in the UK and a load of googling hasn't come up with any alternatives. Any ideas? Thanks, bchampion96
  8. Seems like a pretty rad projector! More versatile than a trad, ceiling mounted one seeing as you can move it around way easier. I'd love one!
  9. I would heartily disagree on KRK being the best of the bunch, because of the bigger models having awfully inaccurate low end, however with a 5 inch driver, they'll probably do okay. If you haven't treated your room, there's not a lot of point making serious mixing decisions no matter how much you spend. Personally, I'd pick up the Presonus Eris E5s, and check your low end on headphones.
  10. It's probably a veneer too, that'd cut cost!
  11. I see where you're coming from, but I disagree. If you're learning and your guitar doesn't inspire you to pick it up off the stand, it doesn't matter how good it sounds. It's only a narrow thing, mind. To me, the most inspiring thing is playing your favourite songs and sounding as good as or better than the original. A bad sounding guitar can never deliver such pleasures
  12. That top is glorious! Poplar burl? Cheers! I did the burnt chrome effect on my trem arm over the stove to match
  13. Of course! If you don't have a great guitar that you love to play, what's the point? I have not tried a TS9 before, but as far as overdrives go, it's definitely one of the most popular
  14. I haven't played a Helix, but if youtube is anything to go by, they sound pretty great! The AxeFx II mark II and XL+ were released in 2014, and while it is 2 years ago, the software updates and support are unlike anything I've ever seen. As far as I'm aware, they're still releasing new software for the Ultra which is from 2008! In that way, I don't this its age makes it remotely less relevant. I'm sure you'd have a great time with a Helix! There's also the Fractal AX8 to consider as well.
  15. It's an amp and effects modeller. So basically every tone I could ever need! It's great for someone like me who doesn't really play live, but records a lot and hasn't really found what 'their sound' is. I can also use it as studio outboard gear for processing other signals from synths or anything from a DAW through. It's incredibly expensive, so I wouldn't recommend it unless you know exactly what it does and if you 'need' one
  16. I've been playing for something like 10-12 years, but only wanted to take it seriously for the past couple. I've had exams and health problems holding me back for ages, but hopefully I'll be able to attack with gusto this summer! Here's my pride and joy: Suhr Modern Satin with a bareknuckle juggernaut in the bridge. Got some more wiring stuff to do this summer to change the switching. Tis a thing of beauty. Here's m'AxeFxII. Glorious
  17. I've been on this forum since waaaay back near the very beginning, and over time the friendly-ness of the community dropped, I started seeing way less familiar faces in threads, more trolling and lots of repetitive threads that could be solved with a quick google so I kinda left for ages. It's good to see this little nugget of positive vibes is thriving here Also, I'm bi!
  18. That's pretty much it! Thanks for your help!
  19. Thanks for the deets on the formats! It'll only be read by two macs, so I believe ExFat is the way forwards? Any recommendations on models of enclosures?
  20. I'm well aware that such a thing is possible, however it's not something I want to do. After spending most of a day on tonymacx86, I decided it wasn't worth my time being and unsupported, potentially glitchy hassle that I don't want to deal with.
  21. Hi Guys, I know this will hurt your poor hearts to hear, but over the coming summer, I'm making the switch from PC to mac for my main rig. This is entirely music related because, while I can use other DAWs, Logic stole my heart long ago. Anyway I had previously purchased 2 WD 2TB drives and this piece of shit: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Icy-Box-IB-3620U3-External-System/dp/B00I4E2FYI/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1462992776&sr=8-3&keywords=icy+box to use my 4TB for music project backups, video storage and that kind of thing. It was absolutely awful and worked once with my Windows PC, so I returned it for a refund. I now have those 2 drives and, when I switch over, another 1TB to use. When I'm in 15 inch macbook pro mode, I'd like to have an external bank of (3.5 inch) hard drives in some form, so at my desk I can plug in and access the entire of my music library, all my Logic and Reaper projects, and just store current projects and things to keep the SSD on the macbook pro nice and empty. I'd like this to work in a similar way to when you just attach a single USB storage drive, kinda like those portable backup drives you can get, but ideally with access to all drives separately. TLDR: I need a mac compatible enclosure for 4x 3.5inch hard drives that'll work as a JBOD system. I hope all that makes sense, I'm tired right now. Please ask questions if not Thanks bchampion96
