papapoi got a reaction from Stefan1024 in Bluetooth USB adapter with A2DP support
most 4.0 dongles come with A2DP i use one to connect with all my headsets
    http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=a9_asi_1?rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Aa2dp+dongle&keywords=a2dp+dongle&ie=UTF8&qid=1462308121

i bought this cheap dongle on sale for $3USD and i works for all my wireless headsets(bludio tubine, aukey, skullcandy) as well as controllers, it doesn't say it supports A2DP but that profile has been around for ages so i doubt any manufacturer wouldn't have that in the dongle
    http://www.dx.com/p/ultra-mini-bluetooth-csr-4-0-usb-dongle-adapter-white-149425#.VykOAvmDFBc

and it was plug and play with windows 10 thankfully , because it didnt say it was even compatible with 10, but for $3 i just decided to buy it.

punch cards,  , seriously, then in college they were still teaching about vacuum tubes and other BS, when we finally got into programming, just BASIC, mind you, the professor didn't know WTF he was talking about and we got into an argument and i ended up throwing the textbook at him and got kicked out of college, haha.

way back when i was building pc's to make money, i once encountered this one guy who knew nothing about computers. i custom built a pc for him, delivered it to his house, spent over 4 hours explaining to him all the ins and outs about the pc.

8 p.m (2hours after leaving his place) - he calls asking me how to hook up all the cables because he moved it into his room(why? because he wanted to search porn in private, lol)
10 p.m. call again asking me what his password was, he setup his own password i never knew what it was but he asked me anyway . OMG, drive back to his house , hack his password  and spend time convincing him, that its not that easy to do, i just knew how to do it.

2  a.m - final straw, call asking "how do i turn off AOL(yes , Aol, it was that long ago) " , my answer i jokingly said, "pull the plug from the outlet" and he did

next day, another 2 hours explaining everything again, got $20 gas for it but not worth the $1000000 headache.

gave up building pc's for the next 10 years for anyone but myself, until i built one for a relative. but thank god for google and youtube the easy replacement tech support i didnt have to go though the same headache

papapoi got a reaction from Nathooo_ in Anybody interested in VR and want to do a survey?
i would think this could be a viable venture, not everyone can afford to buy a vr system, myself included i wouldn't mind laying down some cash to try it out, some gamestops have actually started demoing the headsets but are limiting the time you can use it.
there are a lot places that survive on just guys who play league or dota, but i think its mainly because it is like a lan party and can have a night out with your friends.
i was thinking about buying one and doing like a mobile vr rental business or even renting out a big storage locker which is cost effective and has a lot of space to run something like the vive which allows you more of an spacial type of game play.

good luck on your business if you decide to go that route, better to get on it while its hot and expensive , once the prices drop on headsets and gpus the market for this type of venture might get weak.

    1) find out what your download/upload speeds are
    2) see if your isp has a recommended list of modems
    3) think of what your budget will be
    4) do you want a modem and a router or a modem/router combo
    5) check reviews on the modems and specs that are aboove what your speeds are(leave space for future speed upgrades) and choose your top 3 http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=modems
    6) look for the best price/performance
    7) search for prices on amazon, amazon warehouse, blinq, ebay, etc, even, lots of cheap used modems because people are upgrading them and have no use for the slower ones
    8) if still unsure post another topic and put your top 3 and ask everyones opinion on it.

any z97 board should do, it all depends on what features you want, wifi, usb3.1, sli and/or crossfire, m.2 slot, extra usb 3.0 headers, easy overclocking bios. etc

i went cheap, i bought a asus z97-ar , it has what o was looking for m.2 slot, 2 usb 3.0 headers(for my case and my card reader with 3.0 slots)) , easy overclocking and only $80

with $150 you should be able get a great board, if you were in the US there is a site called Blinq were i got my board they have a asusz97-a with usb 3.1 and m.2 for $106 with 10%off, i wish mine had 3.1.

i prefer Asus, but gigabyte and msi make great boards also, i stay away from asrock boards because from what i have seen on reviews they are more miss than hit.

another board many people here have recommended to me when i was doing my build was the z97-pc mate but when i got that it was defective and i have to return it.

have you thought about buying a refurbished pc? you could probably get an i3 or i5 for about $200 then add a gpu and psu(if necessary) which could keep you near the $300 budget and get you better performance and less headache of troubleshooting in case something doesn't work.

    here are some examples:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100019096%2050010772%204016%20600014651%20600014655%20600014656%20601190702%20601190703%20601190712%204018%204017&IsNodeId=1&Manufactory=10772&bop=And&Order=PRICE&PageSize=30

though if you do decide on building from scratch, i have a gtx650 on one of my pc's and on gta V it runs well at 1080, the 650ti is close to 2x better so it should run great , just don't forget to add a cpu oooler and thermal paste for the cpu. also im not sure what off brand is but i would suggest getting and evga or corsair PSU the last thing you want is that off brand PSU frying your components and you have to start over again

if he was torrenting(taboo subject but using as an example for eucational puproses) or something like that then maybe he could work it to death but word? does he write novels like war and peace? doubt it. as long as it isnt some chinese off brand then he should be fine

500w maybe even a 430w, but better to keep some room in case you decide to upgrade to a better card and/or overclockable cpu since you have a z97 board but not a k-series chip
agree with the evga, g2 if possible, though most evga psu's are fine just dont buy an off brand just cause its cheap

my pc is supposedly capable of vr according to the test, what i want to see is maybe luke or linus run tests on different pc specs to really see what difference the gpu or cpu has on playability. now that it is out i am sure there will be videos showing the rift running on lower specs than stated.

im just waiting for the eventual price drop or the psvr to be ported to the pc. right now its too pricey for what is in the package.

if you just need a phone with a long battery life i'd say go for it, i dont really care for the mediatek chipset, though that was because of their previous generations.

one of the reviews said the charger got hot within a hour, i wonder if that was an isolated incident or the other reviewers didnt notice.

the other drawback is the non removable battery, i used to buy a lot of chinese phones and that was usually the first thing to go bad due to the low quality chips
