  1. so you have already gone into the rmodem/router via 192.168.2.1 in a browser? i have been looking through the website and you the info(or lack of) is bad. typically a wired connection would have priority, and if you change the channel bandwidth in the wifi settings is should limit the amount given to your wireless devices, hence prioritizing the wired connection. unfortunately other than that there is nothing you can do, QOS optimizes your network for gaming, video, etc, it doesnt set a rule to allocate bandwidth between PC's , but you can still try as long as there is an option in your modem, once you have logged into the modem it should be in the advanced setup section
  2. http://support.bell.ca/internet/connection-help/managing-wi-fi-networks-on-your-home-hub-2000-modem?step=3#displayStep in addition to what i posted eariler for the steps on this page and see if you can limit the bandwidth to the wifi connections and see if that helps
  3. have you tried and gone into the modem? the model is supposed to be a modem/router are you connected , QOS primarily is for optimizing the whole connection rather than what you are looking for which i think is distributing or limiting bandwidth to each pc. if there isnt something in the router to do that there are software programs that do it a a cost, i would recommend going to the bell website and doing an online chat with tech support to see if this function is available. http://support.bell.ca/Internet/Products/Home-Hub-2000-modem
  4. that's what windows will show after you format the drive, usable space. this is from the western digital website it will give you info on the drive installed, search for your drive and submit and download Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for Windows File Size: 975 KB Version: v1.29 Release Date: 10/2015 | Release Notes http://support.wdc.com/downloads.aspx?DL&lang=en
  5. you might have got lucky and the seller accidentally gave you a 6tb drive , 5.45tb is the raw capacity for that drive. why dont i get that lucky ,
  6. best to try recuva first , it is free, if that doesnt work then maybe download hirens boot cd is also has some freeware recovery programs http://www.hiren.info/pages/bootcd http://www.hirensbootcd.org/ wondershare data recovery or easeus also work but are both paid software, wondershare worked when recuva didnt, on my 5tb drive.

  8. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1242293-REG/intel_core_i7_6700k_4_0_ghz.html i posted this yesterday in case you didnt see it, $420 after rebate, might be an option. the cpu itself for the i7-6700 non-k is $320, not sure what mb you were looking at but this should make it close to what you were looking at.
  9. have you thought about buying a refurbished pc? you could probably get an i3 or i5 for about $200 then add a gpu and psu(if necessary) which could keep you near the $300 budget and get you better performance and less headache of troubleshooting in case something doesn't work. here are some examples: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100019096%2050010772%204016%20600014651%20600014655%20600014656%20601190702%20601190703%20601190712%204018%204017&IsNodeId=1&Manufactory=10772&bop=And&Order=PRICE&PageSize=30 though if you do decide on building from scratch, i have a gtx650 on one of my pc's and on gta V it runs well at 1080, the 650ti is close to 2x better so it should run great , just don't forget to add a cpu oooler and thermal paste for the cpu. also im not sure what off brand is but i would suggest getting and evga or corsair PSU the last thing you want is that off brand PSU frying your components and you have to start over again http://pcpartpicker.com/part/evga-power-supply-100b10500kr http://pcpartpicker.com/part/corsair-power-supply-cx430m
  10. did you try clicking on the search icon and typing in the name of the folder or mod you looking for?
  11. any z97 board should do, it all depends on what features you want, wifi, usb3.1, sli and/or crossfire, m.2 slot, extra usb 3.0 headers, easy overclocking bios. etc i went cheap, i bought a asus z97-ar , it has what o was looking for m.2 slot, 2 usb 3.0 headers(for my case and my card reader with 3.0 slots)) , easy overclocking and only $80 with $150 you should be able get a great board, if you were in the US there is a site called Blinq were i got my board they have a asusz97-a with usb 3.1 and m.2 for $106 with 10%off, i wish mine had 3.1. i prefer Asus, but gigabyte and msi make great boards also, i stay away from asrock boards because from what i have seen on reviews they are more miss than hit. another board many people here have recommended to me when i was doing my build was the z97-pc mate but when i got that it was defective and i have to return it.

  13. i had the same problem. it was also a 5tb seagate hard drive, i was so pissed off because i thought it was the software that came with a external drive cloner. luckily you did the smart thing and tried another pc, i just formatted it and had to wait at least 12 hours for all the files to be recovered, then a few more to move them to two other 2 tbs . The worst part was i had over 100k of music files and after recovery all the songs were scrambled and needed to be organized again. i searched on the web but couldnt find anything about the problem , now i wonder if its the drive itself that is inferior?

  15. yes if you have two identical sticks in slots 1 & 3 it will run that way, another thing that i don't really see as much as a difference but in some cases it does. this might help. http://www.computerhope.com/jargon/d/dual-channel-memory.htm
  16. lol, then for that its pretty good, my thought is, as long as you make use of it then buy it, i bought , used i for a while and now i dont use it much , but i sure as hell got my $15 worth though if you could wait for shipping i would check sites like aliexpress or dx.com , i think they ship to most countries you probably could get an upgraded one for about the same price.
  17. to be honest i cant tell the difference, if you are doing cpu intensive stuff life movie editing, rendering cad, etc, it might, gaming not so much. idk about there but here the price of ddr4 is about the same as ddr3, though if you decide to go with option 2 there isnt any mb that supports it, ddr4 is for skylake cpus and motherboards
  18. http://www.tinydeal.com/buy/google+cardboard.html $14 is kinda pricey for cardboard, a few magnets and some lenses i bought one though for about $2 and an upgraded one with nfc for $14(plastic with adjustable straps) games are meh, youtube vr is kinda cool, vr movies are nice, converted a few reg movies like big hero 6. porn on vr(no comment :P)
  19. where are you at? amazon still has 1155 boards under $50.one as low as $40. what to upgrade to will be determined by you budget and what you will do with the PC option 1 - costly, also u need to add a cpu cooler if your going to overclock, if you are not going to overclock, don't get a k series cpu option 2 - same deal, but a little cheaper, a little lower in performance for gaming, easy to find at used at 70% of the new price, non k's go for about $160 sometimes lower, my 4670k was $150 vs new $220 option 3 - quick fix , cheap, if your just gaming it's a good option since most titles are gpu heavy, in some 3dmark tests my i5-2500 beat out my overclocked 4670k.
  20. idk is this is still available but i thought i read that intel had a way to disable this http://www.tomshardware.com/news/overclocking-with-non-z170-chipsets,30962.html http://www.tomshardware.com/news/asrock-non-z170-overclocking-hyper-threading,31000.html http://www.tomshardware.com/news/asrock-non-z170-chipset-overclock,30915.html
  21. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/Kx3yD3 estimated wattage upper right corner http://outervision.com/b/VG72oE another site 500w maybe even a 430w, but better to keep some room in case you decide to upgrade to a better card and/or overclockable cpu since you have a z97 board but not a k-series chip agree with the evga, g2 if possible, though most evga psu's are fine just dont buy an off brand just cause its cheap
  22. i'll stick with the el cheapo android tv box, it can also stream 4k on some boxes, play android games, able to hook up controllers , ext hard drives, keyboards, etc. some even dual boot windows 10, throw kodi and the other streaming apps on it and its good to go edit : it also runs arcade/console emulators
  23. 24. go into your router settings and make sure no one is hopping on to your wifi, neighbor, phone, etc., even if auto updates are off the xbox will continue to contact the microsoft server to check for updates for the xbox itself , if the xbox is set to energy saving instead of instant on it should not be doing that https://www.reddit.com/r/xboxone/comments/2midcy/whyhow_does_xbox_one_use_so_much_bandwidth/ many people have this problem, the only thing you could do to guarantee the xbox cant use your bandwidth is to put it on its own surge protector or power switch so you can cut off power to the xbox or just unplug it. just remember if you using the cloud feature to wait awhile for it to upload the saves or you might corrupt it. https://www.reddit.com/r/xboxone/comments/1vth78/xbox_one_data_usage/ https://www.reddit.com/r/xboxone/comments/2midcy/whyhow_does_xbox_one_use_so_much_bandwidth/
