I just recently sent back a bricked card (5700xt) after building my first rig and I can say I'm not as much for team red anymore. I was thinking of going up to a 2070 super but with the new Gpu's from both Nvidia and Amd just around the corner is it worth just waiting. Sounds like it's going to be a big upgrade, thoughts?

Right, so I could get a 2+1 pin adapter cable to plug into my motherboard. What I was kinda asking is since my motherboard doens't support ARGB, will it affect what I can do on my lights. Cause I guess the regular 4-pin 12v RBG header supports static led and you can't change individual LED's in the strip?

Just a further question, there are a couple different 3-pin to 4-pin adaptors on the market. If I were to plug my argb lights into the adaptor to be able to plug into my motherboard would I still be able to customize the lights as if they had been plugged into the normal Argb header? I know that the four pin is not for addressable RGB but would a software be able to tell that they were addressable?

Oh perfect, that what I wanted to hear. If I am using phantek rgb strips do I need to have a phantek brand one I would imagine it probably doesn't matter. And ya its just USB 3 or 3.1 the big fat one, Im guessing amazon probably has adapters for that so I will check that out thanks.

I've just recently built my first system and have invested in lighting to make it look a bit better. I just bought a couple of phanteks neon RBG strips that I want to daisy chain around my case. However, The phanteks strips use a 5v 3-pin addressable connector and silly me doesn't have a motherboard that supports that. (I have a b450 tomohawk max) I would like to be able to sync up the lighting with the motherboard. Can I use a controller that will plug into the motherboard to allow me to use sync them up. Also I want to talk about my two least favourite connectors Molex, and USB 3 front headers. I have some other RBG cable combs that use a 3 pin connector but are powered via molex, is there like a molex to sata connector that I could buy so I don't have to plug in the massive wad of molex cables. I don't know who designed USB front header connectors but they deserve to be shot. It is the most awkward bulky and annoying cable period. It is the biggest pain to cable manage. I wanted to run my phanteks neon strips along the base of the motherboard however, the cable sticks out enough and is so thick that it is impossible the way its located. I don't know if you can get them in 90 degree bends (If you know like the sata cables) but I would pay to get that. If your curious i'm aiming for a Tron style computer so more neon (hense the neon rgb) and lighter colours such as whites and blues. If you know of anything that would be cool to add please let me know.

Just be careful if you went with the 5700xt, I just purchased one a couple weeks ago, one from MSI and it was a dud card. I think it might have been driver issues, but my computer would basically cycle reboot whenever I turned on my machine. It could have just been unlucky cause I know that people have been saying that the drivers got updated. If you do have any problems let me know cause I need to get a new card and don't know if I should try my luck with the 5700xt or go for a 2070 Super.

Update: Ok so because I didnt want this to go without any conclusion I wanted to address what happened. I ended up calling a technician to see if he was able to find anything I didn't. He took the computer and started by swapping the graphics cards, the problem stopped. He left it like that for a couple hours to see if it would change and no problems arouse. He put my graphics card back in to see if the problem happened again and sure enough it started rebooting again. He didn't know if it was a possible driver issue or just a dud card so he performed a DDU on the card and re-installed the drivers again, Same problem. So I am going to be returning the graphics card for another one. Almost seems like a sign to go for team green in this case, let me know what you think.

Ok so update, I have tried to do some more trouble shooting, I've tried tried unplugging the ram, and switch the channels and using just one stick to see if it was either slotted wrong, the dim slots were not working or it the ram stick was dead. I've unplugged the graphics cards as well as one ony my other hard drives that doesn't have windows installed. I've also disconnected some of the RGB components to see if that will have changed anything. Unfortunatly no luck. I've looked at my temps and they still seem find everything is running under 40C mostly hovering at 35C. I went into my event viewer and the only critical thing that pops up is, "This computer shutdown unexpectingly". However, now it seems like my computer is getting worse. When I boot it up after having not turned it on for awhile, it needs about 4 cycles of constantly rebooting before it will make it to the windows login screen. of those 4 it normally blue screens at least once taking me to what looks like windows recovery page where I can either do advanced repair or restart again. At this point I might try and take it somewhere, where they have other parts so they can figure out if its a dead piece of hardware. Is there anything I can do to run a diagostic test to see if its a software issue. I'm leaning towards more faulty hardware than software at this point. any recommendations are appricaited.

Yup ram is in two and four, and they both show up in the bios when starting up

Oh I forgot to say, I was running XMP after I got all the drivers installed, but after this started I thought that might have caused it, so I turned it off after this started. It is still currently turned off. Also just another thing I should mention because the one person said about the PSU, I have a lot of RBG, elements in my computer, (Fans, cables) is it possible that the added rbg is drawing more voltage from my power supply causing a short. I was planning on putting in a couple Phanteks RGB neon strips in my case as well.

Is there a way I could test my PSU, other than swapping it out for another. I don't have parts on hand that I can swap parts since its my first time

As the title reads I just recently built my first pc over the course of the last couple weeks. I have run into a couple problems since starting this project (Computer not posting, Windows media file not booting) But was able to work though these problems myself. I got super excited when I finally was able to boot my computer and install a clean version of windows and get the the home screen. So I did all the best practices after getting it running, did all the windows updates, updated all the drivers for the motherboard, Graphics card, and got the newest bios flashed onto the motherboard. Everything was going smoothly (which was a relief at this point) I was basically ready to start actually using my computer. However, the next day when I started up my computer after I opened up a browser (which up to this point had been no problem) my computer suddenly restarted. "Oh great!" I thought, so I booted up again and opened the browser, this time I was able to open the browser and search for something and then it died and restarted again. It is not very consistent when this actually occurs, sometimes it happens as soon as I open the browser, sometimes Im able to search for something or perform a task. Also when it boots on occasion my computer fails to boot and gives me an error screen saying windows wasn't able to run properly and asks if I would like to repair it. So I have tried downloading another browser, I was using explore so I moved to chrome (Still happens on chrome but much more stable and actually able to do some tasks) I tried re-installing windows, didn't fix it. I used my windows media drive on my usb to format my ssd and tried a fresh install again and updating all the drivers again, still didnt work. I downloaded aida64 and ran a stability test to see if it happened when my cpu was under load or if my computer was drawing to much power from the psu, but my computer ran smoothly even under a stress test. My temps look fine when im just idling on the home screen as well really only getting about 40 degree's celsius at most. I'm sorry for the long post but this has been my straw that broke the camels back, I have been having a lot of fun building my computer and the problems I did run into, while stressfull I was able to come to a solution relativly fast. I wanted to go with that because I will be doing more video editing than gaming and so I wanted the extra cores, and I might be over clocking in the future. Next for the Motherboard, I would go for the B450 Tomohawk Max. Only thing about the MoBo is it seems almost impossible for stores to keep that model in stock as everywhere sells out as soon as they restock. I have a second pick, the ROG Strix b450-f. I know it says its for second gen AMD chips but I know that some 3rd gen chips can work in older boards. But I don't want to do that until I know that its true. Then for the graphics card I went with the RX 5700 XT. I went with that because I heard that it's benchmarks are either equal or exceed the RTX 2060 super and is not much worse than the 2070 super compared to its price. Also I heard that lots of the driver problems people were experience have been getting fixed so that is not as much of an issue anymore. For the memory, g.skill Ripjaw V series (2 x 8gb) I got DDR4 3600 because it wasnt much more than the 3200, however how big of a difference will that be because I wanted to get Trident z Series (White) because it worked better for my design but its only 3200MHz. Next for the storage I went with WD Black NVMe M.2 SSD (500gb) and a Seagate Berracuda 2 TB Hard Drive (7200rpm), I think this is explainatory. For the Power supply I went for a Gigabyte 700w 80+ bronze power supply. I think the 700w is kinda a little over kill, but I wanted something modular and this was a pretty good price. Finally the case is Fractal Design Meshify C (White) I dont think there is anything super special about it, I just liked the way it looked and that it was white. It has a shroud for the power supply which is nice and has good ventalation. Lastly I wanted to get some cable extensions from cable mods however, I don't know where to get them or what all I need. This is my first build so i'm not sure how many cables I would need. Even if you could point me to to a video or something I would greatly appricated that. Any information or help you could provide on this build would be very helpful.

Should I build a pc, and help finding the parts? So in this current climate lots of uncertainy has been circling around everywhere. Businesses are closed shipping has been reduced and countries have closed borders. However, my question is whether or not it is "Worth" buying a pc? Are parts more expensive because of reduced stock? Will shipping be more expensive because of it? I was doing a little digging to see what I could find because I wanted to build a pc with the stimulus check the government is giving to people ($2000). I basically want a pc that can game and also be pretty good at video editing as well. I was hoping to spend about $1400-$1500 on parts (have the rest for Peripherals) and have some saved over. This is what the prices were for the parts (all on Newegg.ca) Ryzen 7 3700x for $438 Ryzen 5 3600 for $282 or Ryzen 5 3600x $309 MSI Geforce RTX 2070 $700 or Gigabyte Geforce RTX 2070 super $709 MSI Radeon RX 5600 XT $528 or Gigabyte Geforce RTX 2060 super $579 or Gigabyte Geforce RTX 2060 $500. My questions would be should I go with a Ryzen 7 or 5? I would have to budge the remaining parts more if I opt for the 7, is it worth? also Don't really know what the best graphics cards are in the market right now (As indicated by the more extensive list) so any suggestions for that would be good. I heard the b450 Tomohawk MoBo is highy rated at the moment, also getting a kit of 16gb of ram will cost around $100 is that enough? I suppose you can always upgrade in the future, want to also get ssd for OS and HDD because I will be needing to save videos. Anyway enough of the ramble, any part suggestions would be much appreciated (Peripherals too)
